Don't say that! We've already starting to see the ground elements of CW implemented. For example; forum faction displayed in game. That's probably a precursor to opening up that tab in the launcher.

Exactly this... It starts to group players into factions, corps and lone wolves. Early days yet but cw features are creeping. Elo matchmaking is the next step I reckon.

Greetings all,

At this time period in the "Canon", ComStar is currently running the MRB (Mercenary Review Board) and will until year 3052. (refer to Operation Scorpion)

Some background:

Mercenary Review Board allowed ComStar agents to serve as brokers for all mercenaries and their employers in the Inner Sphere. The planet Galatea with its numerous Hiring Halls became the "Mercenary's Star", the greatest center of the mercenary trade in the Inner Sphere where mercenaries could train, rest, repair and negotiate their contracts.
While publicly accepted as a means to ensure neutral dealings for all parties, ComStar in truth created and maintained the MRB as a clandestine means to monitor and control mercenary forces.

The first real change in the mercenary business in centuries occurred over several years, and did not affect the Mercenary Review Board as such. Wolf's Dragoons, one of the premier and most influential mercenary units, were granted the world of Outreach in 3030 and began to establish it as a new Hiring Hall. The center of the Inner Sphere's mercenary business began to gradually shift from Galatea to Outreach.

While operated by ComStar as the MRB, it was at the same time also a criminal extradition service, a prisoner exchange and ransoming service, and a banking house. Arbitration of contracts by ComStar's Mercenary Review Board provided a valuable safeguard on both sides, as any unit failing to perform contracted services after taking an advance found itself unable to evade ComStar's almost universal reach. ComStar informed other potential employers of a rogue unit's actions, and had the power to threaten an Interdiction against any House employing such a unit. To ensure fair dealings on the part of employers as well as those they hired, the MRB provided for a panel of ComStar administrators to hear claims concerning breaches of faith and to judge the veracity of complaints. Upon reaching a verdict, the panel broadcasted its findings throughout the Inner Sphere. As the reputations of mercenary units and their employers have a bearing on subsequent negotiations involving other units or Houses, violating contractual terms offered little profit to any concerned

--- End of Background ---

So my question is, -- Who will be running the MRB? --- [ I would assume the Dev's, as the ComStar rep's?]

And do the numerious Merc Corp"s have to register through them and if so where would this location be?
How will the contracts be negotiated and what are the "standard" terms of a "normal" contract. (advance pay, jump and drop ship fees, salvage rights, final pay and planetary faction intel?)

The Merc Corp's will need this information well before we get to the "Meta game" state. As Corp development, assets, and training will have to start now. (And we are running out of time. ie: Periphery blackout)

Thank you,
9erRed

It's my dream that we actually had to fight over these planets...

But I get the feeling what will happen is a merc company or whatever goes for a planet, and you just fight a battle like we already are.

I just... words cannot express how awesome it would be if we actually had to fight over a planet, we land, take objectives, hold them, strategically plan out our next moves, sending out light mechs to scout the terrain, etc... setting up defences at base maybe, then once you gather up any intel, you plan your attacks on the planet, hit various objectives, defeat defending mechs, etc... Kinda like if it was the old planetside (not new, not planetside 2)

Just... stuff like this.

I would be so happy.

one can still hope - and throw money at this project until it is disclosed that there will be nothing of what we hope for... I SINCERELY hope that is not the reason why we don't get any updates on this. ;)

Not quite an exact implimentation of a living Inner Sphere, but it's a very positive step toward it. If your dedicated to the associated mechanics, so be it, but it should really be fleshed out. I assume more information on that is pending.

It would indeed be nice to have an update.

I really, really cross my fingers that this isn't dropped during development. That would be huge and really groundbreaking to have the BT universe in a persistant sandbox, making it worthwhile to invest in your pilot as much as in your mechs!

I don't want WoT but with Mechs. I want WWIIOnline with Mechs stomping around, in battles that mean something in the long term.

Thumbs up!

They are still working on it, although I think they are currently more concerned with the Clan Invasion than anything else at the moment. If you go through the pak files you will find a xml file with 2000+ planets and their location on the IS map, along with which faction owns which planet.

CW is coming, you just have to know where to look.

I've made a new version of the whole community warfare in order to give the Devs some ideas while as well giving them a solid base to work on in terms of balance. The actual system may have some flaws, so I created an altered one. Feel free to drop your own comments and ideas.

Anyone else notice the copyright date of 3067 on the map? (Bottom portion of the Legend if you didn't)

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

CW hasn't been mentioned other than in passing since start of open beta, it's vaporware until we hear otherwise.

No, it's just something that takes a long time to develop. Consider that it has only been just over 1 year since the first line of code was written.

For me,this feature is really what I need to stay excited about MWO. The near silence towards it for months now has drained me of interest to the point where I haven't logged in in over a month, and frankly haven't really had any desire to. I Hope this starts to take a higher priority soon. :\

This, this so so much. I haven't played in probably two or three months. Mechwarrior was -so fun- when I first started playing it, but without any sense of persistence, I really haven't cared to play. They had said something a while back about watching out for Dec/Jan, but that came and went. They've been so great about their transparency, and I'm hoping I just missed the memo.
