It's ok to XL a Centurion (if not just a good idea all around). It's ok, really.

I have yet to remotely see a benefit to running a standard. It' tanks liek a Boss with an XL. It can either pack more firepower, go faster (or both). I see a lot of folks deluding themselves into believing pewpewing while being largely ignored for a few minutes is some huge contribution, but reality is, that a good Centy jock could have been blasting away for most of that time with PewPews, Whoosh Whoosh and BFG Dakka. The more damage one can frontload in the match, the better the chances you and your team have of winning and surviving. Period.

I do see people pewpewing away at the bitter end with their Zombie Cents. Pretty much always on the losing team. It's been a bad myth, and has been so since the Centy first arrived.

If you know how to pilot a Cent AH you can easily take a 1:1 with a Timberwolf and win.

All the dead TW pilots I challenged in CW will agree Posted Image

(Just make sure its a close range fight)

yeah..challenging on standing in the open 1000 meters away on Boreal might not be a grand idea.

I run my -AL with a 260 STD. It still has the 3x LL on it and runs so cool I didn't need to pack in the extra heat sinks. It can fire all day, and once it does get to zombie mode, I find one LL better than 2 ML since I can still contribute at range. I have seen people running 3x LPL now that the quirks were made more generic.

I run a STD on my -YLW, and it's never let me down. I almost always lost the LA and LT before my RA goes. I've thought about trying out a larger XL in it, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'd have to pay the cost to strip off Ferro as well. Granted, that's more of a psychologically limiting factor than monetary at this point.

Re: the -D builds with AC10. That's exactly what I want to run! I'm not sure if I'd keep the 300 it comes with or try out some of the other engines I have lying around (280,320). I might pick up this variant next (before they nerf it ;) ).

Good Cent-AH thread: http://mwomercs.com/...nt-cn-ah-build/
XL225 is a must
ac20 with SRMs 2's

I prefer the ac10 however. With the amount of long range builds going on in PUG, the ac20 has too many limitations.

BS! Any smart TBR will just wait for you to twist back around and alpha your RT. Two alphas and its gone.

My CN9-YLW is my preferred Timber Wolf hunter in quick play, so many maps are congested, it makes murdering them easy....

haha, try me.
Alpha me with what? Anything a Timber has to offer takes too long to dish out full damage to nail it all on my STs, especially with the brutal fast torso twist speed the Cent AH has to offer.

I need 6 seconds to destroy one leg. The rest is easy pie. If he cant kill me in the first 6 seconds, he is toast.

I'd agree with you if my STD Cent A wasn't a consistent winner for me. I don't shy from XLs in my Centurions, but if I can comfortably run a STD I will. Most scrubs expect the Cent to be an XL, so when I turn around after losing my gun torso, its a nasty wake up call.

I need to free up some time to try Jazzbandits Cent D loadout, it looks stupid fun.

lol 6 seconds....As soon as you twist to fire your AC+SRMs, Im alpha'ing RT with 50 pp FLD..Its gone in two alphas and then you're left with SRMS or you're dead....Stop facing newb TBR pilots!

Someone who mainly pilots Cents, I know exactly how to take them out. Twisting does nothing other than makes you not fire back.

Sorry my sticky feet from all the Timberwolf blood say otherwise.

PS: I can't choose which kind of pilots I face. I haven't come across anyone who has won against me in a fresh Cent AH to date. Neither in CW nor in QP.

It's a case of DoT vs Burst... In places like River City, Crimson, Frozen City... well any city type setting, I'd give the edge to the Centurion, open map like Canyon or Forest, Timby.

Works very well. The minimum range of both weapons can be a real pain in some matches when playing soloQ, but the thing is a beast and does well getting in and out of combat with the Xl.

Try a 325 or 350 in the D if you are newer. It is good to learn where the sweet spots is for mechs with speed VS firepower. With the D I would run lbx and 2mplas and a 325xl, I was racking up damage with the sandpaper, but honestly stuff was not going down. The AL with 3 big lasers works best at med to long(ish) ranges.

I use a XL385 in mine. Because you can swap that engine into an AWS-9M for giggles too.

In Closed Beta one of my favorite builds was XL350 and just an AC/20. Of course back then if you lost your arms you could still tackle enemies at 118+kph.

I run the CN9-AH with a 255XL, double sinks, AC20 (3 tons ammo), and 3xSRM4 (2 tons ammo); 40 armor per leg, 16 armor on the head, rest is maxed. The ammo is really tight, ideally it would have another ton for each, but tonnage is at a bit of a premium. Still, this build wrecks faces and moves at a respectable speed for something so heavily armed. Played well, it can and will put the fear of medium mechs into assault and heavy jocks.

Wheres my popcorn gif...

This is getting pretty fun thread people claiming they can defeat timbers with centurions easily.. always, ALWAYS!
Just have to wonder why these awesome machines of invincibility don't get any playtime in competitive scene, not even when it's brawling deck.

Mechspecs will help you a lot. Has lots of good build ideas for all mechs, but that links to the ones for CN9-AH builds specifically

Comp scene too stuck in the unimaginative laser vomit meta maybe?

My AH:

CN9-AH

My YLW

YEN-LO-WANG

My CN9-D

CN9-D

My CN9-A

CN9-A

Out of all of them, only the CN9-YLW will I have go after Timby's in an environment that is to my favor, anything else is use them as targets of opportunity, but never sought out.
