XLs make you pop so easily. Its really too tasty. If you take an XL engine, use that to get even more long range material or ammo and hit from far off where that XL engine is not a liability.

Damn someone beat me to the don't tell people how to build there mech thing.. so I'll just add some of the Archers come with XL engines so blame PGI if it pisses you off :P

wow...op has been here for less then one year yet he knows more about mech building then any of us it seems. So much so that he felt the need to post here about it.


Keep telling people WHAT TO DO in a Free to play, Play your own way game....that's smart. Almost as intelligent as you seem to be coming off right now. Not to mention he wears a Liao banner......eww.

You can run an XL in an Archer if you want, but you just need to practice your moves...


Besides, new incoming structure buffs should help anyway.

XL Engines = When you need to move fast and need to load up on more fire power. Blowing up fast is just the drawback lol.

And buff STD engines so they are a quality alternative.

Then wipe defensive quirks and start again.

What's broken about IS XLs? You lose aST, you lose the 3 crits located there, you die, because 3x critical hits to the engine = Death in Battletech.

Not in MWO.

In MWO, it's assigned to STs lost...so a PGI decision based on Lore, with nothing to compensate (no better agility or whatnot to the completely superior Clam XL)

McGral. You lose that ST, you lose all 3 Crits in it. Period. Thus, dead. In TT you got no compensation, either.

You also couldn't pinpoint 50 damage onto a pixel.

TBH, in TT you can't focus fire the ST (not so easy as here at least)...

And now you're forgetting the tripled+ damage, shifting the target yourself.
