I don't know if anybody knew this already or not, but on Windows 10, you can record any game that you play.

Pretty easy for those who don't want to install another program to do so.

Also, I don't know if it's better than other software recording programs. I'm hoping it is.

Windows 10 can record more than just your games.

Just throwing "screen capture open source" into the non-google search engine of your choice should give some good results for alternatives, e.g. wiki has a comparison of programs: https://en.wikipedia...asting_software

Tin foil hat optional.

Doesn't appear to work. I know I get the "Press Windows key + G" message when I play on my laptop, but not on my stationary. Both run Windows 10.

Oh well.

It works in other games, it seems. Just tried it on World of Guns: Gun Disassembly.

Oh well.

It also won't record sound if your playback is at better than 16-bit stereo. At least, that's what I read while trying to troubleshoot the lack of audio in my MWO recordings.

Its only a free upgrade and only for a few more months. After that it goes back to normal pricing, and new installs are not free. It was free to get the install base numbers up, and it worked - the install numbers blew away the adoption rate of Windows 8.

Windows 10 can also without your permission, and in many cases despite your attempts to thwart it, upload any to all of your data to servers around the world.

Spyware you install yourself!

Enjoy MS forcing Win10 down your throat even if you refuse the update.

Unfortunate, because 10 is far and away worse than 8 ever was.

Less stable, slower, glitchy UI, uglier UI, removed OneDrive functionality...

There is nothing redeeming about 10.

No it can't - the only data it sends to Microsoft is the tracking information from search/cortana,web browsing information, and windows update data. And it can mostly be shut off. Your actual data - as in data you create or files you create - it doesn't do anything with - unless you are putting it on Onedrive. And then you are subject to the same sort of rules that apply to any online file serving service like dropbox.

I like to use nvidias shadowplay.

lol

Nice tinfoil hat. Nobody cares that much about what a bunch of neckbeards and geeks are doing, nobody wants to spend all that money to store all that data.

It doesn't record everything you do. That's just absurd. It DOES track searches/cortana(if you use it)/IE*cough*Edge web usage, etc, in the same manner that others do, though.

But whatever. It doesn't matter. You can refuse to use it now, but you're eventually going to have to. It's just how things are going, and it's unlikely to change.

Tinfoil hats abound, as usual. Not going to convince them otherwise.
