but they're not doing a 1-1-1-1 mech pack or Clan Wave 4, because they couldn't find a selection of 4 different mechs from each weight class that Russ believed were solid choices.

Seriously, i can find enough clan omnimechs to do a 1-1-1-1 that are in timeline, and each would bring something to the table.

Light: Fire Falcon, a 25t 8/12 mover (same speed as a cheeter), and can carry about the same amount of guns as the ACH.
Medium: Viper (since it's already confirmed)
Heavy: Night Gyr, a 75t 4/6/4 mover (300XL with 4 JJs), along with endo, ferro, and Laser Heat Sinks (LHS aren't really effected by ambient heat/cooling. So cold environments don't effect LHS' cooling, however neither do hot environments.)
Assault: Turkina, pretty much a 95t whale with fixed JJs, it has 46 tons of effective pod space though. Or if you're boring and want a really bad mech, there's the Kingfisher, a 90t omni using a std 360 engine with endo and ferro, with only 27t of effective pod space (maybe 28-30t after striping some armor).

All of that is in the 3052 limit imposed by Russ (even though 3 of the standard variant Kodiaks are 3060s variants), and are all solid choices. Seriously it's not that hard to find solid choices to bring to the game.

Like the news.

But 1 vs 1 and 8 vs 8 Solaris???

Why not 24 players free for all???
Oh, do I get it? It would be to fun and draw people away from Puglandia nad FW?

Also the "pink" we have no are not pure pink, its magenta. Kinda 50/ 50 mix of purple and pink.

But again chaotic 24 player versus on Solaris with a great spectator mode for those who gets grinded or have 20 players and 4 players lots for spectator only.

Given that he works on the game 40+ hours per week, I don't hold it against him if he's not playing 10 hours per week on top of that. I mean, the dude is a president of a gaming company with 50-60 employees.

But this is just one of those things where PGI makes an arbitrary snap decision and then that decision stays in the game for 3+ years, because he doesn't think it's a big deal and doesn't understand why people care about it. I've lost count of all the times during Town Hall when Russ has gone "Oh, people actually care about that stuff? Huh."

I don't know what they have their Community Manager doing, but it doesn't seem like she's getting paid to spend a lot of time getting a sense of what the community wants. Because there's been a lot of issues that regular forum posters will be aware of, yet Russ & Co have been totally oblivious to them.

I think the problem is they don't listen to Tina enough. We can be pretty clear about stuff during our drops with her but Russ probably doesn't pay attention to her. He seems that type.

So the cheating will never be dealt with. Which is why I will avoid Solaris like the plague. I can instantly tell Russ is lieing about mech packs. They won't do mech packs because they make more money just doing 1 mech at a time. 80 bucks would buy you most of a 1-1-1-1 mech pack. Now it just buys you 1 mech with variants. Very clever Russ...horribly dishonest even. Once again quirks are going to be redone. We buy mechs that constantly change in usefulness. The X-5 isn't worth piloting anymore. Clan lasers ARE JUST FINE! Sheesh. People just ***** because they don't hit mechs at 2 kilometers and do 20 points of damage. I'd take a Clan pulse boat over a IS pulse boat any day.

Lots of talk about pink camo, the PPC sort-of "buff", of course the Viper; but nada in re the promised
emphasis about CW phase 3. I feel like something is missing here...like any noticable changes to 12x12 play. I haven't gone back and watched the whole thing but in skimming it, I thought I would run across some mentions of new/improved play/features; but no. Please tell me I just missed it. Or is the only real change the intro of 4x4 play?

I'm pretty sure they're not touching normal Invasion mode or Counter-Invasion in 2016. So yeah, there will probably be no changes to the maps or game modes you are familiar with in 12v12 Faction Play. Zerg rushing o-gens through the Alpha gate meatgrinder... forever and ever.

I think "1v1" will be 24 free for all. But I believe he referred it to 1v1 just to illustrate that there are no teams. Or maybe he called it "one player Solaris". The server costs for having only 1v1 matches would probably be astronomical, so I'm fairly sure they'll want at least 8 players in the free-for-all deathmatches.

It's possible.

That's a valid point. I won't avoid it, but it's certainly going to be a problem for the leaderboard unless they deal with it.

COMMAND WHEEL! YAAY!

Now, is it regionalized so that people who speak different languages can have more effective communication?

That seems to be the idea. NGNG did bring up the language barrier, and Russ acknowledged it.

Now the question is: will there be a male and female voice? Clanner and Inner Sphere voice?

I know everybody was expecting more, try to keep in mind though that these are monthly things. Hopefully mwo will grow enough to catch up to where it legitimately should be. I personally miss many of the aspects of mw4 mercs

I can instantly tell you provided zero evidence for your accusation. If you could study Russ's facial expressions and are Cal Lightman or Paul Ekman then I *might* believe you...but ur not.

$20 buys the mech and variants.

Copied this little snippet from Paul Inouye in chat during the Town Hall:

"I don't do quirks but I do know they are constantly being updated as we monitor incoming performance data."

So the question is who DOES decide on the Quirks?

Another designer who's name I forget, probably because Paul gets the blame for pretty much everything that us players dislike. He was in one of the dev logs a long while back. I think it was around the time of Clan release. I can't be bothered to go through them and find out who was though.

Maybe it's David Bradley.

PVE being standalone, just as long as our accounts and the mechs we get to pick from are the ones we own in game, then cool...haha. I also hope it includes being coop.

PPC/ERPPC heat lowered? Amusing, maybe they will be useful.

The name rings a bell. Whether he is still with PGI or is responsible for the quirks is beyond me though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone else, but... isn't he still Lead Game Designer? With a title like that, it feels like he'd be the guy to review and approve whatever the number crunchers come up with.

Eh, I hated the 1/1/1/1 mech packs. They had a huge price premium because of mechs I didn't want to buy, just to get the ones I did.

I'd WAY rather buy individual packs, with the preorder bonus for each mech, rather than a single huge pack where I'm garaunteed to have zero interest in at least one of the mechs.

The 4-mech packs suck.

Probably not. Paul works on CW, particularly design elements. They'd have a developer tasked for quirks (David? Alex? I forget who) and he'd be fully responsible for that. Showing the numbers to Paul would be useless, because Paul isn't working on mech vs mech balance at all. The guy doing the work would have (theoretically) been testing and researching. It's on him.

No wave, just the Viper/Dragonfly. Didn't mention which variants (there are more than three in timeline right now). No more mech packs.

all I heard was no wave 4 and that packs is time consuming.
I can easily imagine PGI re-grouping all the packs (say, viper and the other 3 mechs) into a "clan wave IV" after the single packs are done that way you can buy all the mechs for better value.
