Valkyrie
Crusader
Longbow
Any of those would be fine, I'm partial to the Stinger/Wasp/Crusader myself.

Russ talked about "scraping the barrel" before moving to the next era, so my bet would be some Unseen 'Mech: Crusader, Marauder II or Longbow. Or perhaps some kind of "combined package" of Stinger, Wasp with bonus Valkyrie.

It's certainly not just a worse KC. One variant comes with a 380XL and another has JJ. Let's also not forget it has all of it's weapons are high mounted and help shield the torsos, unlike the KC. Also, none of the variants have missiles.
I'd say the Nightstar would actually be better than the KC because of mobility & weapon placement.

I'd be fine with the Vulcan, though

It's mainly because the location of those E hardpoints:
Also, the JJ variant uses FutureTech (UAC/20) so it's a no go.

My guess is that they'll bring in the Crusader. A heavy mech will simply sell better in this game.
I'd love the Stinger/Wasp, mainly to get the models for HBS's game. They kind of have no place in MWO, as in MWO we have effectively unlimited resources to run whatever mech we want, so everyone wants to run the heavy hitters. But for a 3025-era single-player campaign they'd be crucial starter mechs and lore elements.

Pgi has replaced weapons before to make a variant in timeline, just give it AC20s and it's good. And all of those E hardpoints are at cockpit height, which is ideal. I don't see how cockpit lvl weapons are a detriment.

The Kodiak is mere weeks away.
Russ said that they had one IS Mech that had the preliminary artwork completed back in January that they wanted to get into the game before they go back to a major run of Clan Mechs. The Cicada already has the 40 ton slot well covered for IS.
I am going to guess Wasp.

It's not the physical location of the energy hardpoints on the Mech model.... Look at the pic I posted above. What build you can create based on that info? KGC's 2Gauss+3LL is out of the question. Dual Boom is not possible. If you want to carry 2 slot energy weapons more than one, you can only bring LB 10-X or smaller sized autocannons.... and only two of them.
