In terms of Wobbie stuff, look at the Buccaneer it was introduced in 3055.

And this is one of the reasons I like the Blakists.

I don't see any of their 'mechs as being nothing but a pile of suck that sucks so much that suck couldn't suck anymore suck than it could.

Jeepers, gee golly willerickers! none of the 'honorable' Successor States don't have a few mass murders on their hands either...oh wait...[LINK!] and let us not forget the nuke fest that was the first and second succession wars.

None of this is new.

Eventually, the Wobbies wouldn't be a bad idea.

Seeing as how the event that spawned them is still a few years off in cannon(Anastasius Focht's secularizing of Comstar after killing Myndo Waterly because she betrayed the Inner Sphere, The Clans, and her own people all in one dippy move), I think this conversation is a little premature.

Yes, the Wobbies did great things. I especially like the idea behind thier religion(recognizing the greatness of the spirit of mankind as a whole through the things that mankind has created). The way they do things/what they do with the things they make is not so great.

The Wobbies didn't rise above the other Successor Lords. They matched them in every conceivable way.

First thing I learned in BT was, never, never, trust the phone company. Given that WoB is a sub of the phone company, srry, no. Even though one of their low ranking execs made a better Captain-General then the real crazy dude who went nuke happy, that is totally negated when they screw him and destroy the FWL. So in my BT Universe Janos Marik marries the Melissa Steiner thus uniting the more logical two most powerful economies in the inner sphere while Thomas Marik (the real crazy dude) is torn apart by a bunch of wild dogs at one of the Comstar monasteries. ISN reported that 3 months later the people of the inner sphere were still glad it happened.

Psh, Wobbies. The toaster worshiping faction? I dunno man, I don't feel quite inclined to be wearing dem funny math symbol robes and being made fun of cause I worship the blenders.

...on the other hand, if i don't join em, i might get nuked. Tough decisions.

The Word of Blake formed officially on 6 June, 3052, in the aftermath of the Battle of Tukayyid and then Primus Myndo Waterly's ill-fated decision to launch Operation Scorpion. Sickened by the loss of the flower of the ComGuard, and stunned that Myndo Waterly would take such a shockingly ill-advised throw of the dice when ComStar was literally at the mercy of the rest of the Inner Sphere, with no fully intact military formations able to defend its vast holdings outside of the Sol System itself, Anastasius Focht confronted the Primus and shot her dead.

Focht (Who was in fact Frederick Steiner, of the Lyran Commonwealth), arranged to have Precentor Dieron, Sharliar Mori (who was in fact a spy for the Draconis Combine's Orders of the Five Pillars), elected Primus. At this point, Demona Aziz, Precentor Atreus, left the First Circuit (The governing body of ComStar), for the Free Worlds League, taking the few hardcore believers who knew that Focht had murdered the Primus.

In the following months and years, the Word of Blake continued to attract ComStar acoyltes, ROM agents, and ComGuard soldiers who felt that Focht and Mori's liberalization and secularization program was essentially making ComStar the ***** of the Inner Sphere, selling it's technology to the highest bidders. This flow remained steady, but relatively slow, until two things happened. The first was when Klaus Hettig, Focht's right hand man, turned Traitor, and turned the naval yards in the Sol System over to the World of Blake, and the Word of Blake managed to conquer Terra itself in 3058. The blow to Focht's prestige at having his Right Hand Man betray him and his social programs was one he never recovered from.

The second major blow was when Victor Ian Steiner-Davion was named the new Precentor Martial after managing to lose his throne to his sister. When this happened, ComStar began to hemmorhage personnel and material to the Word. It was pretty obvious to many people that ComStar could hardly be neutral with one of the Successor Lords in the second most powerful position in the organization.

What kicked off the JIhad, however, and what most people seem to forget, is that the Word was about to join the Second Star League in 3067. The Successor Lords once again chose to destroy the Star League. The Word of Blake then turned the inconceivably massive arsenal it had built up at that point, and which it was planning to share with the Star League Defence Force, on the Successor Lords. The forces that attacked New Avalon and Tharkad were equipped with Military Equipment that had been slated to be turned over to the Alliance and the Suns as gifts.

Long story short, the Successor States cut their own throats. They turned a group of loonies that was prepared to go balls to the wall to crush the Clans onto dust... and managed to get them pointed at themselves, instead.

Thus came Jihad. And the Dark Ages.

Why did I post all this spew? To show that the Word of Blake is just like every other Faction in Battletech. It has it's own agenda, it's own unique flavour, and is as full of backstabbity and insanity as every other faction. Sure, they worship toasters and wear math symbol robes. So what? That makes them awesome. Certainly more awesome in my book than having a culture blatantly ripped off from Feudal Japan, or a society so rich that it can somehow survive six centuries of total military ineptness in total contradiction of every single logical law of military Darwinism, until it marries its 16 year old heir off to the Space French successor Lord and suddenly becomes amazing in the space of half a generation.

Blessed Be the Word of Blake.

Phone company bad, M'kay. Wobbies are like the phone company and tax service combined. Your argruement would work better if there was any logical reason to the "lets blow up the entire inner sphere (even though we have no chance of winning) because we got sad" actions of the Word of Blake. They committed faction suicide. Their actions were a spoil sport and had no hope of achieving anything like their goals. Thats why people hate the them. Lots of people liked Comstar. And WoB had fans too, but the way they were written at the end its like thinking somehow Hitler had actually done a real good job of leading Germany in 1945. Its not the robes with math symbols, its that f**ktarded monkeys wore those robes.

Reading your post, it seems that you don't have a problem with nutters in math robes in and of themselves, it's more the fact that the Word of Blake imploded for stupid reasons that served no real purpose except to be a big Reset Button for Dark Age.

And of course, if you read any of the Dark Age series, the Republic of the Sphere essentially commits faction suicide. As do a few other factions.

What this says to me, is that WizKids has a nasty sort of instituional laziness as of 2004 or so that makes them enjoy ruining various factions by having them commit suicide by running themselves into the ground for no particular reason (Steel Wolves, Jade Falcons, the Republic itself, etc.).

The only thing i'll be converting is anything with a word of blake insignia. And they'll be converted to either red mist or burning wreckage.

Ya, I know its just the dumb storyline they got stuck with. Kinda like what happened with the FWL. But thats what we get. And we are also stuck with it. So you got judge them by their actions in the books however stupid they were to be made that way. And in them they are nut jobs ruled by an inexplicable cyborg Thomas Marik who happily destroys his own house, faction, and anything else he can touch. Its a bad bad storylinem but its the canon and that makes them crazy phone company cast offs. Yes the wobbies are just written badly, but unlike Jessica Rabbit, who was just drawn that way, that really does make the Word of Blake BAD.

Its like how do we know for sure Sherlock Holms was an englishman? Because thats how he was written.

Well, in the interim, you and I had better hope we can avoid the curse of Katherine Steiner-Davion first. Talking about nutjobs and insane people who are poorly written!

It's better not to be in any faction....

They are insane and should be either killed on sight or locked up for good.

But . . . but little Katy Steiner-Davion was just misunderstood. I blame Scientology for that.

Well the WoB is going to split from Comstar after Tukayyid, so they'll be a potential faction after 3052.

At any rate, I love fighting the WoB, especially the Manei Domini since I can totally ignore honor when fighting them.
The WoB is exactly the enemy the Wardens are ment to fight, too bad we never got a Warden intervention during the Jihad. Hell, even the Crusaders would have tagged along for a piece of the action.

They could be excellent post-clan PVE.
Just imagine a "kill the 150 ton colossal mech" mode...
