Two, as of now. Posted Image
I think that is legitimately 'too close to call' and it is a very strong statement for the Nightstar. Given that it cannot rely on the bonus of having been featured in a previous MW-game, it is downright amazing how it holds its own against the Sunder, and clearly surpassed Templar and Hauptmann.

I mean there is no way around the Fafnir, and that should make the MW:4-fans happy enough, however if the poll is any indication, PGI would be well advised releasing the Nightstar this year.

Epic!

Yeah it is truly amazing how one year later and it's almost as popular as the Sunder. So many generous people taking the time and effort to draw, make builds and support it in general is really just special to me.

Also I see you fixed your Sig. ;)

Why any of these artists who drew concept for the night star isn't already hired, I'm stumped. Though I certainly wouldn't be as I'm assuming they already are.

Well they're either hobbyists or they also take commission so there is that.

Well yeah... I cannot bring myself to support Victor, but I always had a soft spot for Peter. He has such a tragic story, but also moments of greatness. And his scenes in the final novel Endgame are the best.

Well, actually the bigger problem is that the Nightstar simply does not have missiles in their 'DNA'. Take a look at the Marauder-family, it does not like missiles. Nightstar, Dragon Fire, Maelstrom, and Marauder II don't use them at all; Marauder IIC and Marauder make very limited use them in a few variants.
I am thus not a fan of missile boating Nightstars.

From Sarna: MAD-4H The 4H Marauder II is a modification of the Marauder II that removes the LB-X Autocannon/10 and replaces it with four Rocket Launcher 20s, six Rocket Launcher 15s, and a Rocket Launcher 10 which gives the 4H incredible close range damage capabilities. BV (1.0) = 1,849, BV (2.0) = 2,180[5 That's 11 Missile Hardpoints. Posted Image

You're right, all is not lost. Maybe you can get Critical Rocket's support for the Nightstar cause. He does do an entire Lorewarrior series on his Youtube channel.
He also streams for 2 hours on Fridays, his timezone is GMT+1, and the stream starts at 11 PM, his time. For me, that's 4 PM. 1st hour is an exclusive group drop, but the second hour is an all-inclusive private lobby. In the past, he streamed on Twitch, but he may be switching to youtube from now on. Best to check both I guess. Just friend-request him and ask to join.

I know I asked him once, in a stream, if he'd support having the Nightstar in MWO and he did say yes. Granted, it was using the text chat and there was a battle right after, but he did say yes.

Currently trying to cook up a list of strong mechs and what makes a strong mech strong to then be presented by a youtuber to drum up more support for the good stuff.

I was looking at bothering BlackhawkSC or Kanajashi as they seem to care more about performance.

How many units are you looking for "strong" and are you looking for IS or Clan?

IS strong Assaults:

Strong IS Heavies:

I'm looking at getting 3 per weight class for each faction just to keep it fair.

Current list:

IS Lights
Osiris
Razorback
Mongoose

IS Mediums
Lynx
Men Shen
Starslayer

IS Heavies
Dragon Fire
Toyama
Falconer

IS Assaults
Nightstar
Sagitaire
Fafnir

Clan Light
Piranha (12 cmgs would be crazy)
Locust IIc (Almost too good to add tbh)
Incubus (BM ACheatah with ballistics)

Clan Medium
Arctic Wolf
Mongrel/Grendel
Vapor Eagle

Clan Heavy
Black Python
Thresher
Nova Cat

Clan Assault
Stone Rhino (Again, maybe too good...)
Bane (yet again maybe too good)
Phoenix Hawk IIc (Obsoletes the Gargles but /shrug)

Rather than the Grendel I'd offer up both the Lobo and Coyotl as strong mediums.

I think the Coyotl would be the only real contender here thanks to it having the same speed as the Grendel but the Grendel has plenty of variants and the Coyotl has just two. They'd probably be of similar quality so for me the Grendel's build variety, shield arms and harder to isolate torsos help it stay ahead.

After going thru a few Youtubers it was Critical Rocket that agreed to do a video. Currently we're putting the finishing touches and it should be ready soonish. It works out because now we get the British accent which makes everything sound better hahaha.

Good. A YouTube video seems to have some notable impact - though I find that rather disturbing. A Mech is not good just because someone advertises it with a video.

Anyway, since it is what it is, the Nightstar needs to be advertised too. Just a tip: do not forget to mention the Mech has some lore; the Marauder-family, the ComStar-link, the rediscovery and use by the Lyrans and FedSuns especially during the FCCW. Appealing to the meta-crowd is right and good, but don't forget those who are BattleTech-fans.

It's a Norse Storm Mech, you should get a speaker with a German accent. Everyone sounds more militaristic with a German accent. Posted Image
No, seriously, a British accent does help a lot.

He plans to talk about the lore of each mech on the IS list as well as what makes the mechs good. After all, it's about appealing to as many as possible.
