There are flaws, and it comes down to what we are willing to settle for. That's what I wanted to explore; we put money into the game, and we expect quality in return. If I try to get to the bottom of it, you consider it, "venomous rumormongering." You refuse to see it my way, and perhaps I wont see it yours.

We can jab back and fourth all day, but in my eyes you'll always be throwing away happiness with both hands, and reaching out for something that will never make you happy, a flawed matchmaker.

I wish I saw these aforementioned drops that you speak of. Typically, (NA, Euro, Oceanic all selected) I will see enormous wait times. I could discount it to a low player population during late night hours, but it's actually not an uncommon occurrence and I am pleasantly surprised when I get drops outside of group.

Tough to account for low peak times. I never did have a problem with the match maker but the way it was done is a surprise to me how well it was made and that they managed to fit so many variables in. Starting in closed beta I knew that as a newbie I wouldn't face the challenges that newbies have today though. Other than that its all good for me as a player. That it was done surpassing any other game and maybe as good as is even possible is just icing on the cake.

I honestly preferred the lack of matchmaking in closed beta (and outside of closed beta).

Yep. I wasn't for split queues either. I knew the groups were pushing for split queues though, that was obvious.

A player has to know that not everything is obvious and that some things make sense on a larger scale to those that have all the stats. So maybe splitting the queues was a good idea and in hind sight any player can see that its possible maybe. Even knowing that I am still not sure it was a good idea or not though. :) Its a real tough one that's for sure.

Match making for an instanced game like this is required to make matches at all. That newbies are protected and the various players have good matches are the two main issues for a match maker. How to achieve that is the trick and some games have totally failed at it that's for sure. Like I already said this game is a 10/10 for match maker straight up.

It's extremely hard to support an argument against matchmaking, honestly. I believe that you have to cater to a group of players calling for splitting queues, otherwise you'll alienate and lose anyone that has requested for such.

It's extremely biased for me to say that I would prefer the lack of a matchmaking system, even if for the legitimate reason of insuring responsive drop / game times.

Group queue / solo queue? Yes.

Matchmaking? Meh.

I still love the game, regardless.

Much talk of new players. The idea is to offer a viable path for them to develop. The entire reason I started the conversation is because I worry (maybe warranted, maybe not) that they are not given that opportunity. I want this game to succeed, and I have every intention of building upon this game in any way possible.

You speak of being satisfied with the matchmaker. I must admit that I am satisfied with it as well. I did not want to state that because It would add an arrogant overtone to my words. I feel I do well in matches, and often times I feel that I have easy prey.

This is where I have a problem. My argument does not stem from my own experience, but from I can witness from the experiences of other players. Because I try to listen to what they have to say. If there is a chance to improve upon the tier experience, then I want to explore it.

I dont want the population to be so low that we have matchmaking issues, and I dont want new players to be shot down by the experienced players who are "satisfied with how its going for them."

It doesn't matter what you experienced when you were learning, we are in the now. And you have take a look at what the matchmaker is at this current moment.

They start talking about teirs and MM.

(I think the following only pertains to solo que)
Tier 1s are hard capped into matching up against 1-3. They cannot be matched up against teir 4-5.

Honestly, i think solo que currently works pretty well. Not every match is perfect, but most are pretty enjoyable matches considering what psr is ment to reflect.

Russ tries to explain the psr rating system at around 2:58:xx

And continues to talk about psr/mm until about 3:10:xx (at this point he changes topic).
