XL255, to be precise.

This gives it the same engine cap as the Stalker (310). Thus, the optimal engine will undoubtedly be the STD300.

I just meant that the Blood Asp is more of a clan counterpart to the Gunslinger than the Marauder IIC. Its energy and ballistic mounts are swapped from those on the Gunslinger, though.

Hmm, that means we'd have to sacrifice a good chunk of tonnage to get the 300STD, if it's not XL friendly.

I think the Nightstar is better with ALL of it's weapons cockpit height, large engine variant (380xl), spread DMG, etc, but this is easily my #2 choice.

Everyone knows metamechs only have guns on one side.

I think you thought I was saying the Blood Asp would be a more appropriate meta-mech than the Gunslinger, but I was replying to another guy saying it's more similar to the Gunslinger than the Marauder IIC is.

By my calculations, STD300 with Endo and nearly max armor gives you 39.5 tons to work with. For reference, twin Goose is 36 tons, assuming 3 tons of ammo per Goose. That gives 3.5 tons left over for lasers and JJs...meh.

The XL300, on the other hand, gives 49 tons with Endo...

In terms of XL friendliness, one of the primary benefits of the XL is to mount a big engine for high speed and agility, which can counteract the supposed "fragility" of the XL. A small XL engine is slow and clumsy, and therefore doesn't really unlock the full potential of the mighty XL.

It seems like a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of situation for the Funslinger.

Man... That's a tough one. You won't have a big enough engine to protect your XL & a Std doesn't leave you the tonnage to work with.
