A week later, I still could not find a video where the warhorn is played.
Someone recorded it here:

why the hell do we have to support it anyways?
I thought all the money in it was raised by sponsors etc?
You dont HAVE to, nobody is forcing you, its there for you if you want cool cockpit items and HALF A YEAR of +10% C-bills and EXP for just 10 bucks, and to SUPPORT, NOT FUND, the tournament

I enjoyed CW more than any other mode and with this split queue ********, Russ just practically says, "If you aren't already in a unit, I hate you and just want to take your money and I'll only let you play half of the game you had last month."

The fact that they rushed this 'tournament' out the door, with poorly thought out rules, and locking the patch with a HUGE number of mechs being nonviable, and still haven't implemented the rescaling when they locked the tournament patch? WTF?
This tournament is purely a vanity project. If PGI were interested in a good tournament, they would have delayed locking the version until AFTER they had implemented some of their multi year delayed balance fixes.

Throw a special "loyalty" mech in the deal with a unique camo pattern, or make the XP/C-Bill boost to 20% then you've got me reaching for my credit card.

I'll drop 10 bucks for that and a 10% c-bill/xp bonus for the rest of the year.
That said, a special "Tournament" loyalty mech would have been pretty classy. But whatever.

If you want to stay in the unit queue you can just make a one man unit?

I don't think some players realize that a personal unit is fun and may actually add something to the game. A player can make their own message of the day for fun, set their own rank title for fun. There may even be personal unit content some time, or not, but its interesting a bit anyway.
Anyway I have seen some complain in game about the fact and also some players like the Freelancer avenue as described in the player choices and having to form a unit may conflict with that.
Maybe if this game spends a few million on a media blitz

Maybe they should make another $10 pack with the same stuff, just call it the tournament hater pack (or tournament discouragement pack to be fairer) or something. Would love to see the results of player purchases in favor of and against a tourney. They are already locked into this one, but it could prevent more in the future if more people pay PGI to not run tourneys than to run them.
PGI also couldn't misinterpret why people spent the $10... even add a $10 "I don't care either way about the tourney, just give me my stuff" pack to cover all the bases. I'm guessing that option would outperform the other two.
EDIT: Just saying this is a great opportunity to literally let players vote with their wallets... and earn revenue from every angle.

I wont support it. It wont go anywhere. BUT, the silver lining is, I can't wait to see the matches filled with all but a handfull of mechs with mirror load-outs, in HOPES that PGI fires Paul, balance the game, and never do a "world Tournament" again.
3607 people..... thats .... small. My neighborhood has more people living in it (I live in the middle of nowhere btw)
5 years is the golden year for most businesses... PGI is almost at that mark with this game.... this will either be it's last hurrah, or live one more year! we shall see.
