Starting To Get Queasy About Tournament

What is stopping every team from having duplicate mechs, with duplicate loadouts, across every team, with copy/paste meta loudouts because everyone will want the tryhard mechs with the tryhard loadouts?
This will drop spectator interest after the first round of games after they realize every team has the same mechs, with the same loadouts.
People will say, "Look, to be good at this you need THIS mech with THOSE weapons to win. What a pay2win game."

As long as we can get random maps we should be good. If they give us some junk sniping maps it might be a very boring tournament.

If there is no tonnage limit and no light mechs in the tournament, they'll be handicapping MWO's public appeal.

That still isn't pay to win, pay to win implies that you can ONLY get it with real world money.
That said, they won't see that many Timbers in the tournament, they are more likely to see BKs which are half that cost (though with none of the required upgrades).

Every winning team having same mechs=boring to watch more than one match.

The Timby really doesn't have more, there are two main variants you are likely to see (brawl or PPC/Gauss), same with the BK (LPL/ML or ERLL).
I wouldn't mind a no dupes rule though.

Same thing, people will get really bored of seeing the same mechs with the same loadouts win every time.

Go watch some MRBC DIV A and you will see many differing approaches to the same maps, and how that influences mech selections.
While I too would prefer a limit to duplicates, I believe there are still valid reasons to take different mechs with very different loadouts on any given map which will create many mech options.
In the heavy category alone, you can see "meta" use of a bunch of different chassis due to mobility differences, mount heights, quirks, engine caps, hardpoint maxes etc.
I would not commit seppuku over a cookie cutter spectator e perience just yet.

Doubtful anyone will bracket build their drop dec like that, though there are some maps/strats that call for it.

I wouldn't expect mirrored drop decs, teams have different play styles and tastes for mechs (many teams prefer the Grasshopper over the BK for some reason for example). Sure you won't see that crazy of differences between drop decs, but restricting dupes won't change things that much either, it is just a product of how you play this game, you aren't going to see people just have this hodge podge of ranges and roles in a drop dec, because it is generally dumb to do. The more interesting things is often how people play the map to their advantage.

Seriously, go watch some MRBC games, and you'll see that most teams plan their dropdecks differently based on playstyles, and even which side of the map they spawn on. A good dropdeck for Team A, may not work for Team B spawn location, especially on conquest maps (has PGI mentioned game modes yet?)
I do think they should put a duplicate rule in, maybe 1 duplicate allowed.

Why?
The tournament should be as reflective of an actual regular match as possible.
Does that mean dupe loadouts and lots of try hard meta builds?
Damn right it does.
Why?
Because it is what works and it is what already happens in the highest skill levels of play.

But i think thats why they are making us play on a TOURNAMENT BUILD, unlimited cbills, MC, whatever.
It wont even be played on the same client, thus i think p2w will be non existent if they allow everyone a million MC to buy whatever mechs they need. Then everyone can have an oxide and it doesnt really matter at that point.

Oh I'm aware, though being able to play it doesn't matter as much if you can't practice it well.

Well id say it was your own fault if you decided to take a mech you have never once played before, not PGI's at all.
