I swear the past few nights I have nearly wanted to pull my hair out dropping solo queue. I give commands to the team, try to rally the team, and nothing seems to work. All these pugs just scatter to the wind. Is there a reason for this? Should I just stay in group queue to level my Mechs?

Because solo queue is where casual players are. Some just want to shoot mechs. Try CW or group queue i guess.

It's just a rule of nature. Pugs will do what pugs want to do. If that involves trying to find the remains of the Spanish Treasure Fleet at the bottom of the ocean, there's nothing you can do to convince them otherwise. Just have to find a fun build that doesn't require allies, and the ability to ignore wins/losses.

PUG life.
Hang in there, there are many PUGs that will follow orders.

Remember that the other team likely has the same problem. Just bring something with a punishing long range alpha and watch their pugs hide about as well as your pugs.

At the end of the day, non-team players are just meatshields for team players. If you get a group following you, then make sure you work around the non-listening pugs. Using them as meat shields, of course.

Did you use VOIP or just chat? From my experience VOIP works much better. Also, pugs tend to listen better during NA prime time since higher percentage of the pug population has fluent English.

I've used both. No noticeable effect either way.

Dont know, majority seem to react pretty well to me...

Sure, a group of PUGs will never be an oiled team, but you realistically just cannot expect that

edit: voice, yes, text chat is ignored 90% of the time, for good reasons

My timezone is about 15 hours ahead of server, which put my playtime around 9am server time, way out of prime time.

Short simply command seem to work best in my experience.
"Alpha atlas, red CT, kill him"
"C4, raven at our butt."
"Regroup with direwolf, B3"

Why should I listen to you mr. RavenKnight 86.
Although questionable, I might listen to you if your name was hotchick69.

Also don't forget to thank the PUG if some of them decide to follow your command.
"Goodjob on the atlas"
"Thanks for the save"

Embrace your inner pug, mg's and flamers, shoot walls and teammates, lurm hillsides, let an atlas sneak up behind you.

Write on the walls with your own feces and you'll find the fun in pug life.

Maybe this just needed to be a rant for me. Cause I know I ain't got no room to complain if I'm just sitting there and not giving no advice. However I try to rally and lead the tem with no success. Honestly I usually have better luck leveling Mechs in group over solo.

Use VOIP, give clear short pointers and call targets/UAVs. 80% of the time at least some PUGs will follow suit.

What you should NOT do is start to shout commands or worse. It is in our nature to specifically ignore people barking at us telling us what to do. Specifically if they haven't been proven to be worthy of doing so. Not saying that is what is happening in your case, but it is a possibility.

Depends on if you sound like you know what your doing, how you say it, soon as you start complaining people will ignore you.

Have you taken into consideration what your teams weapons are, no lrm boat is going to push so if you bring brawl, and not enough of the others do don't expect people to come with you.

All things to consider.

People that yell about Uav's I will shoot one if I can see it and bare weapons on it, many don't bother because they can't shoot that well.

All things to consider, it might not just be because well PUG's.

You're often going to find that, unless you have unquestionably sound advice, ordering pugs around isn't helpful and will get you ignored.

You can usually call out enemy locations, enemy numbers, check on teammates, etc and it will probably be productive if people are listening and bother to respond, but that's different from ordering people around.

Several reasons, some of them aren't as bad as one might think:

1.)
A player does not recognize the authority of the (mostly completely foreign) player giving commands or the commands seem nonsensical. Following orders requires trust.

2.)
A player might only want to test a certain build or some crazy *** (maybe even suicidal) tactic. It quick play, after all. Not even the will to win can be assumed here. It's just click&play.

3.)
The commands might come via ingame voice chat and some players don't have it activated (there are good reasons for that. Search the forum for my posts concerning the topic if you like)

4.)
A player is rather new and is tasked to capacity with steering the Mech. Noobs have to start somewhere and where better than in the quick play?

5.)
The reason that some players are just stupid / ignorant / unsocial applies as well, of course. But I guess that's a rather small percentage (40%? 10%? not sure how high)

Funny example for 1):
There is a certain player I encounted twice so far who has not the SLIGHTEST clue how domination works.
Yet he gives uber-serious commands like "we will NOT go into the center but stay at the side".
We tried to explain it to him, but at least for me, it ended in getting insulted for no reason and with me reporting and blocking him.

No one follows orders if they appear to be nonsensical (justified or not).
