Its a light hunter. Perfect for countering scouting missions.

Bring a Hunchie 4G or an AC20 Centurion. StreakCrows melt when facing those.

to be true, scout mode is about firepower in the end, you shouldn't show up with mechs lighter than 45 tons anyway. At least that's what I've seen so far.

Not true, piloting both of them.
Clan is hunting as pack -> you get off two alphas then you are dead.
This mode is just severly unbalanced.

If you're on your own and facing a clan hunting pack, the mech you selected isn't the critical mistake made.

I'd suggest 40 Ton limit.

Hunt as a pack as well?

4 x AC/20s can wreck some shop in good pilot hands

I am not on my own, but having the ac20 you are THE threat. Meaning you die first. unless everybody goes with hunchie or cent and then they just outrun you.
Polite/impolite: thx for being nice

I was hoping the scouting mission would be a light lance vs light lance type of deal mainly, too bad that's not the case.

The problem I see though, is your suggestions for fighting back these Streak Crows is to pack 4x AC/20's or whatever - I feel like its just kind of going to turn into a 4v4 Skirmish...

Not that a bunch of lights wouldn't either but, I just feel like that a 40 Ton limit wouldn't cater to that so much... I guess Im not sure.

Which doesn't do much, Cuts out the STREAK crows but STREAK Adders will still be a thing. Granted its not nearly as good of a robutts as the Doom Crow but all it does is drop your SSRM6's from 6 to 4.

There are 20 intel data points to find and each one takes 3 seconds to cap. A hunting pack is going to lose, and lose very quickly, if the other team spreads out to cap intel data points and then beats a hasty retreat to their extraction point.

Remember, not everyone has to make it back to the extraction point.

But the defenders just have to find the extraction point. Your lights die faster than the dropship kills the crows. At least thats what happened...

Edit: And as the attackers, you win with one datapoint already. No real incentive to go with anything less than crows there also....

Im not saying the 40 ton limit would cut streaks out, by any means. But an adder is a far cry from a Crow. And 40 Tons would limit the mech selection to those much more suited to a Scout mode. Maybe they wanted the 55 Ton limit to give the Clan side more options considering their much smaller lineup of mechs. I will say at 40 Tons, it would be a Cheetah fest.

I'll be honest, I haven't played it yet. So Im just theorizing all of this.

It's newly-released. Let the meta settle down a bit. Strategies will emerge. You don't have to have everything figured out on day one. Just keep experimenting with different mechs.

That is right. But for that you have to go as group. In solo queue EVERY clanner drives a crow, but not every IS pilots a hunchie...

At 40 Tons, the clan lineup is a little light on selection (Not counting the upcoming Viper)

Lynx, Cheetah, Kitfox, Jenner IIC, Adder

That is kind of my point.
For clans, the strategy is already set: Pilot a crow. Everything else is inferior.
For IS the game is now how to best kill crows.
I wanted a new game mode, not a "how to kiill crows" skirmish mode.

You can be absolutely sure this 55 ton limit was to allow the clans another advantage. ACH and stormcrow vs what?
