UrbanMech (-R60, -R60L)
Light - 30 Tons, http://www.sarna.net/wiki/UrbanMech
The UrbanMech packs a powerful punch for its size. One argument to include this mech is few light mechs carry ACs. It would benefit MWO to allow for ballistic capabilities of light mechs, which is all about offering various roles per weight class. One thing critics may be overlooking here is Matchmaking is probably going to be balanced in some fashion, either by tonnage or c-bills. The UrbanMech is extremely cheap in both regards. Plus, adding this mech in the game would satisfy many fans.

Hatchetman (-3NH, -3F, -5S)
Medium - 45 Tons, http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hatchetman
Hatchetman is a very distinctive mech because, as its name suggests, carries a hatchet. Mechwarrior games have always lacked one thing, physical attacks. Introducing the Hatchetman would offer a mech unlike anything else in MWO and would be fun as hell to whack away at your enemies with a mech-sized hatchet. Obviously this would have to be delicately balanced, but would offer an epic experience to players. The developers could make this work if they wanted too.

Orion (-K, -V, -VA, -DC, -M)
Heavy - 75 Tons, http://www.sarna.net/wiki/orion
As far as I know, there are very few mechs with humanoid arms that have an arm-mounted missile launcher. Having this mech in MWO would make it unique. Plus, the Orion is a true workhouse and a jack of all trades at a solid 75 tons.

Cyclops (-10-Z, -10-HQ, -10-Q, -11-A, -11-A-DC, -11-C)
Assault - 90 Tons, http://www.sarna.net/wiki/cyclops
This mech has many variations and fills the tonnage gap. The Cyclops carries an arsenal built to handle any situation. The Cyclops was designed as a heavy command mech, which may be the preferred mech for commanders on the battlefield.

I'm not sure how they would in any way make it more unique. But sure I'd like to see them.

Looks like you had some brutal UBB code issues there.

The Hatchetman is pretty much out, at least for now. We won't have the ability to make physical attacks in MWO, and I think at one point one of the devs specifically stated that mechs with melee weapons won't be included.

I agree with the Hatchetman, a melee weapon on a mech would make for interesting games.

All of these choices are great.

Even if they couldn't implement the Hatchetmans hatchet, it could still be cool. The Cry Engine can handle physical attacks though, so it doesn't seem impossible to implement someday. Just have a little targeting light that comes on when the enemy is within range of your hatchet, so you know when you can land a hit.

Orion doesn't have a missile launcher in its arm though. That's a line-art / tech readout snafu :P .

But what about the Grasshopper? Heh. Plus the Orion is really just a 10 ton bigger T-bolt. I would like to see the Cyclops but only if there was some way to make its 'command abilities' work in-game.

Sadly my beloved Grasshoper's niche is already mostly filled by the Cataphract.

I'd love to see an Orion though.

If the game is successful enough (read: lasts long enough), I'm sure almost all of the canon mechs will become available for a price.

If you're bringing in the Hatchetman, might as well grab an Axeman too

I was never a huge fan of the Orion back when I first encountered it in.... Mechwarrior 3 I believe, maybe 2? Something about the look of it made my stomach churn. The actual weapony that thing can pack though is definitely nice, and I do remember getting bruised up pretty badly by the first one I saw (primarily because I was in the water and couldn't move out of its LBX 10).

Art wise, I'm sure the fellas could make a decent looking version of it though!

I dont think I would want to get close enough to have to use the hatchet on another mech! will that sort of "Hand to Hand" fighting even become necessary or would it be a last ditch effort before your destroyed?

I, for one, fully endorse the inclusion of the Onion!

No Ares?

I would really love to see it added even if it isnt supposed to be added for hundreds of years.

I really want an Orion.

I love the lore behind it, and it is a great all-around 'mech.

They did not. Unless I missed something they said they didn't want to include melee combat if they couldn't make it feel solid enough. The engine can easily handle it, just comes down to putting the work in and if it's worth it. I think Hatchets would easily be worthwhile as they are just more brutal versions of punching, which lots of mechs would be capable of doing, you're range and speed might vary. Kicks might be harder because they would require you to stand still... Charging however last I heard was planed at the very least to be an option.

Always hope. The Orion has been in MW before but that set would be unusual. Not that some of the mechs we're getting aren't though. That's a good thing.

I could see an Annihilator clearing the field. Even the more unique mechs won't be too unique since u can change the loadout but there never enough mechs as far as i'm concerned.
