I am a huge fan of battletech, and I have been getting most of my fix through playing Mechwarrior Online, but I found a Twitch channel playing Battletech live and have been loving it.

Death From Above is the name of the show.

https://www.twitch.tv/HyperRPG

The GM has worked on many Battletech games and is currently working on a new title with the Founder Jordan Weisman. The players are also employees from Hairbrained Schemes.

They do a RP session on Tuesdays, and then play the Battles on Friday.

Tell them SirLucien sent ya, you wont be sorry.

I miss Battletech.. and Mechwarrior.. and Blood Bowl.. and Warhammer Fantasy..

All of our gaming stores dried up because damned Millennials have no interest in physical games.

Thanks for the plug; I'll check them out and reminisce.

You can also check out the modified initiative system that HBS will be using in their upcoming battletech game. They're using it in these PnP sessions as a proof of concept.

I found their YouTube. DFA isn't Battletech.. that's Mechwarrior RP. It's still Battletech-ish, though.

This is the real prize. This is the candy at the center of life's poopscicle.

I eagerly await this game.

MWT was a god damned embarassment that never got off the ground thanks to developers that didn't give a **** about their IP. These guys care enough about BT to RP it out in MW. I actually have faith in this thing.

They do play BT, they do the RP session and then the next stream is the followup battle with BT. Like this one

They are v cool, gonna watch em all and sub etc. Reminds me of way back when someone at a battletech club ran a campaign, we all had our pilots etc and had to defend a planet against the clans over multiple games, was really fun.

Anyone else taking bets that when Jordan Weisman and HBS actually get their game out that MWO is going to take a shot right to the gonads?

The original creator of Battletech, Jordan, also played in a charity Battletech game which is also on their Youtube channel, but watching it live is the way I like to experience it.

I watched their first broadcast of an actual battletech game (not the RP session) and couldn't make it beyond the first turn. The roleplaying cheesiness is not just carried into the game, but is cranked up to 11 and it made me feel too uncomfortable to watch. Cringeworthy and awkward pretty much sums it up to me.

I know I'm likely to drop MWO once HBS' Battletech game gets here.

I guess what he says is, he misses the tabletop interaction with real persons in real life while playing.

I'd sure love to have that board and miniatures to play with

I still have my Dwarven Death-Roller, fully painted and waiting to return to the field, after a 20 year hiatus.

Games Workshop makes me sad, now, though.. All of their new games are 64bit or GTFO. I really don't feel like reinstalling my entire OS / drivers / programs over the course of a week just to be able to play Warhammer again. (Plus this OS is fully licensed and legitimate.. if I go with 64bit I won't be fully legal, anymore.)

Yeah, fighting against actual real-life people that were totally engaged in the game.. those were the days.. the days before celphones and tablets and laptops.. etc..

I really didn't like the changes they made at the turn of the century. They ****** up the undead, really hard.

Aside from that, no one within 80 miles of my house has any interest in tabletop games of any kind. So, yeah.. I wish them luck in selling tabletop games in this day and age..

Well they just wiped out Warhammer Fantasy and replaced it with Age of Sigmar which is basically one step away from sci fi now.

Just bought some Warhammer minis yesterday. Going to get some Mordheim going soon with one of my best friends.

Its too bad the new fantasy rules are all screwed. Age of Sigmar can suck it.
