The question should be after saying "It's good" is "Good for what?"

That pretty much everything it does something else does better, and what it does better is generally on weapon systems that aren't good is a problem. Having a huge amount of it's firepower options confined to a single arm hurts it even more.

Hello fellow Liao member/person/citizen....

The Panther is classed as a light mech, it moves like a light mech...it has the structure of a medium mech, and is the only light mech to have that advanced sturdy frame.

Yes, there can be a problem, but the Panther is a cat...it jumps.

If you can do without JJ's, and want a better placement in fire-power....take the Wolf-hound.

Theh Wolf-hound solves the fragility of the Panther's predominant right hand weapon placement and can even pack a bigger punch....parameter speaking.

My Wolf has an ERPPC and 5 small lasers....and is hard as nails for a light.

I love m ickle Wolfie.....but it cna't jump.

Ever wonder why the Panther at its best has a PPC and SRM?

To fire and run...

Other lights, like the Arctic/Jenner/Spider have to keep their targer in sights when executing a shot.~

A Panther does not.

its leveling pretty fast. thats usually my yardstick for how good a mech is. slow levelers end up getting me lower scores since lower xp and more games to level it. ive run worse lights. like spiders took forever to level. one thing about the panther is it seems to hold up to more abuse for some reason. you can commit a very bad error and come out alive.

I always found them quite easy to do well in. I don't try to run the in the cookie-cutter striker light mech role -- we have other chassis that can do that better (faster, better hardpoint distribution). I typically put some big long-range guns on mine, play them as in lore, as fire-support elements attached to heavy lances.

It's a REALLY unglamorous play style, but it works. Focus fire with your team's heavy hitters and enemies tend to go down. You tend to survive until end game, between having higher-priority targets by your side and being quite tanky yourself. It's a damage-over-time or "slow and steady wins the race" play style.

Panther-10K with 2xPPC is my favourite IS light, but im weird and like PPCs, and don't get on well with brawling lights.

In the beginning I was dissapointed and thought it´s the worst light, then situational and now it´s my favourite on the IS side.

Especially with 2 ER- /PPCs but also 2Lpls or 3LLs

I know a lot of people shun the Panther.

First Panther bought I sold...

The Mech is no good until you master it...
...well, the Panther does work and is fine as it is....

The Panther 10K® is one of my favorite lights in the game. I love the 1 ERPPC/2 SRM4 loadout. It is my mini Centurion but with jump jets :D

I do fairly well in the Panther 10K too. It just really fits my playstyle.

The other Panthers I don't use as much though.

I agree though, good mech!

The Urbanmech is the best mech.

And.... I also use my Urbanmech about just as much as my Panther 10K :D. Another fun and greatly under appreciated mech :).

Fire Support/Scavenger.

Jump snipe and run and gun early with the ERPPC, pick off the wounded late game with the ERPPC/dual SRM4 combo. You can also go 2 PPCs or 2 ERPPCs if you wish to just snipe.

You could say the Vindicator 1AA might be more adept, but then again, the Vindicator is still slower and a much bigger target.

Well, I have a lot of matches in my Panthers.
It's not OP, but it's been a lot of fun for me.
Lack of speed, but ligher engine also means more tonnage for weapons.

Let's say this: CDA is a fat light, and the Panther is a skinny medium :D

(w/l 2.96 and 2.62 k/d...... not that good, but not that trash....)

+1

Especially..."the Panther is a skinny medium"

My stats aren't AS impressive, but still good for an Avg 1.46 KDR pilot IMO...
1.37 W/L and 2.00 KDR (154 total matches with it)

Oh, so weapon values were also doubled? Shows how much I remember. Posted Image

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of doubling armour values...?

Just RoF was like tripled?
But I meant that in MWO Full Custom Madness you can take 2 PPCs, instead of one!
In Stock Mode panther is still good. The thing is that Panther is really special Draconis design. Seams like most of the folks just don`t understand it. Same in TT. Once you get that it is not like any other light, its a blast to play, in MWO, Stock MWO and TT BT.

I just really wish for right arm fix, thought.

Over the weekend I brought out the 10P and reconfigured it to carry an LBX to test spread buff from the last patch. Was just so much fun. I think I prefer this stupid build (only an LBX, 3 tons of ammo, 1 jj, (might go 2.5 tons and grab another jet) xl240 lbx cool down and range module, and radar dep) to my normal SRM build. Not a lot of kills, but was effective at sneaking behind enemy lines and blasting lrm-ers and/or pinning down lights.

Ballistic Panther is fun.

Don't tell me you pilot only 10-15 mechs because all the other 200+ are inferior.... lol

I currently have a rather silly build with the 10P. I have it set up with 2 A/C2s. I can't remember how I configured it, but it is amusing. Amusing is really all I can hope for with a 10P lol.

Max engine, max jets, SRM8, 2MGs, 2.0 W/L 2.71 KDR leveling, solo queue only. Ignore the temptation of the ballistic and take advantage of the fantastic hitboxes and actually good engine cap of the 10P and...yeah, ok, still just amusing, but more effective than any big ballistic build if you know what you're doing with an SRM light.

My Panther-8Z is funnily enough my best mech. Got around 200 games in it and a kdr of 1.95.
Just two large lasers and you are good to go. :)

I really like the 10k with an ERPPC and 2 SRM2s, but it just doesn't do enough damage to really shine.

It's a strange mech through. I think it helped that I had piloted Cents and Wolverines quite a bit before I got my Panthers. They are basically medium mechs that count-as lights. Kinda like the Cicada is a light that counts-as a medium.

Pretend like you are in a medium with low armour and you'll be fine.
And flee from enemy Firestarters, Arctics and Wolvhounds as soon as you see them, they will destroy you.

Try the 9R with 3LL. Better.

It's a fun mech, one of my favorite lights. I even like and do well in the 10P.
