thisthing needs some sort of a buff ... currently its just a turret and nothing more(i cant do anything with it... if u torso twist it basically makes no difference... and its slow)

it relys on the team and that means it will just get stomped/left behind over and over again

and also faster mediums can stip it with 2-3 alphas

Welcome to the world of slow assault mechs: they can be very frustrating to play in the solo queue for some of the reasons you cited, but in an organised team they can bring terrifying amounts of firepower to bear on the enemy team.

You're better off sticking to faster assaults for the solo queue as 90% of the time the assault lance will not get support from the rest of the team.

I wouldn't necessarily sell them unless you really need the cash, but in my experience the mech you're looking for is the Timberwolf: awesome firepower, adequate survivability and superb speed / agility. There's a reason for it being the iconic clan mech.

Not sure, I haven't seen it on any list of mechs due a resize, but I agree that it is slightly too big at the moment. It's also a little bit too squishy for my liking but this is partly due to its size.

It's the lolcust of the assault mechs. People that are bad in that weight class will say it sucks because they don't even know how to use that weight class well, but someone who actually knows what they're doing can shred in it.

As someone with 800+ drops, avg of 500 damage a match, and a 2 k/d in a dire, it's still one of my favorite mechs, out of the 80+ in my garage.

Judging by the dire builds I see on a daily basis, the vast majority of people that own a dire don't have the slightest clue how to build it, which also means they have no idea how to play it.

Search for assault mech guides and study them, and keep in mind these three things-

positioning, positioning, positioning
heat management
massive (direct) firepower

A well positioned dire with a good loadout and a player that can aim and manage his heat can easily turn a game around, I've done it myself enough times to know that it's true.

I admit I nearly soloed a Dire Wolf today in a srm locust, got the guy down to red core but some medium lasers came out of no where from another mech and cored me.

How do you spend $500 on one Mech chassis?

I have 3 dire wolves, brought a la carte some time ago. I have plenty mechs that need attention and leveling. Gotta wait abit to start leveling them. But I can say I like the Prime variant alot. Also I dont switch out omnipods if I can make good use of those that are default for each variant..
Modified Prime to have a bit of everything, works wonders. Cant wait to test out the dakka one..

I love each and every of my direwolves and i take each and every one of them out regulary and get amazing games...

But they are in need, of some quirks. Some structure quirks would be nice

The DWF goes a little bit in the direction of what "combat roles" should be.
It's role: lots of damage, little speed.
It's perfect for a defensive role (e.g. defending boreal vault).
If you want to quickly storm in somewhere and you take a DWF for that ... then the problem does not lie with the machine.

Don't try to even out what little roles there are by screaming "BUFF PLZ!" if an assault Mech can't scout very well.

a dire depends on the team that makes it **** ... if it actually had some reliable armour it wuld be nice but u cant realy do the "assaulting" part ... the current meta game is just pokey pokey and laservomit from 700meters away

Is there a mech that can boat a higher pinpoint alpha? Is there a mech that can sustain dakka better?

Put an Atlas againts at Dire both with equal and good pilots and the Dire will win the majority.

Dires are for killing other Dires or assaults. Not lights.

Because you are getting beat in pug play with no coordination to protect your back while you push does not mean whales are broken or need buffs.

An Atlas or any slow assault has the same problem. Mechs have roles where they fit better. Dires are no exception.

Seems to me that its role does not fit your play style. Maybe try and Executioner if you are set on clan or Banshee/Battlemaster for IS.

EVERYONE craps themselves when they run around a corner and face a whale. No other mech has the same effect. Splat'Atlas is close and so is Mauler but just not the same fear IMO.

This... Drop the Direwhale and pick up a Stalker..... way better at pugland..

I fear Stalkers in Solo way more than a Dire or an ATlas,ect.... honestly those only shine in 12 mans

You want a pity party or something? The D-Wolf has been out for years and its stats are well known.
