Next fix will merge ques again in cw, but, imo, there are good reasons to improve que with 8vs8

1) faster matches.
(math: with 48 ppl in 2 common drops, using 8vs8 we could have 3 matches, instead of only 2)

2) improved MM
with less spots to be filled, MM can more easier fill the match with players inside the same tier

3) good players can carry easier.

4) easier drops in cw.
Now there are players who like scouting, and this leaves the invasion drops even more lonely.

Can anyone tweet Russ about this?
Never ever answered to me, so some Tweet Lord can do the favor?

Russ has already stated that the queues will never go back to 8v8 IIRC.

If playerbase asks hard 8vs8, which I wrote why it's the wise solution, we can have it.

It is 3 a.m NA. I am getting MWO matches in less than 2 minutes, side by side. Maybe even faster.
In what region is the wait time issue?!

I get much longer wait times in Dota 2 (aka one of the most popular games ever)

I live both in NA and EU (not at the same time.... :P)
From last patch I cannot drop within decent waiting time....except prime time.

Idk why this waiting time comes up. I get matches within 2-3 mins in solo que.

On occasions grp que can take awhile but nothing I'd call a real problem.

I don't drop solo.
My liver cannot allow, and I don't have the sexy voice El Bandito has.

Group que is a problem, I drop in 5-10 minutes.
CW instead is dead...... which is sad because I dropped a lot in cw, and I like it.

varients on 8v8 would be a good for solaris

8v8 team survival
-pretty straight forward ranked skirmish

16 player survival
-free for all, last man standing wins

16x4 survival
-same as above but with a drop deck.

4v4v4v4 lance survival
-free for all for lances, last lance with a surviving mech wins.

dual tourney
-game starts on a single map which is divided into 8 sub arenas. each one hosts a dual. duals last 5 minutes and who ever is alive or has the most health when the clock runs out wins (20 minutes to complete). the game is played in four rounds single elimination with a drop deck (bring whatever mechs fit in the alloted tonnage and drop them in any order, one per round). doing 8, 4, 2 and then the final dual. there is a score multiplier that gets bigger each round, and the further into the dual you make it the larger your scores. eliminated players can place cbill bets on the outcome of each remaining round. having multiple duals in a single map keeps the server load down.

dual insanity
-variation on tourney. single mech, no deck. rounds are 4 minutes each (16 minutes to complete). after the time has expired a set of dividers are removed whether or not the duals have been resolved. this means that if a sub arena has a decided winner, and the adjacent dual is still in progres, it becomes a 1v1v1. elsewhere you might have a 1v1 or a 1v1v1v1, depending on how those duals went, you would even permit teaming up as a valid strategy to spice things up. each time the clock runs out more dividers are removed until all players have access to the whole arena. last man alive wins.

Hmm maybe a comprise? Maybe add a "Escort Supply convoy" mode to CW/FW that's 8v8? I'd love that.

I do think a 8v.8 in FW could be an additional mode.
Like scouting it could be used to secure 'drop zones', any kind of facilities, etc.
Something along these lines with benefits for the attacker/defender.
I would leave assaults out and make it additional, not mandatory.
For the final acquisition of a planet i am still good with 12vs12.
In thr end i wish something like consequtive progression on planets, like scouting leads to the 8v.8 mode which then leads to the final assault mode.
The best would be maps that fit this style and are connected by some sort of theme a.k.a. Desert planet, ice planet, urban/ spaceport etc.
This game and esp FW needs more maps and for me it does make no sense to play on maps like vitric and boreal on the same planet.

Many of us are getting bored by long waiting time, and decide to drop solo....

There could also be a "Rescue/Destroy Damaged dropship" that could be 8v8

i kind of want a "raid" mode for fw. kind of like scouting for assaults and heavies. you would have a list of targets of opportunity to destroy. there would be turrets and dropships trying to stop you, and destructible barricades protecting assets. you have to destroy one or more targets and dust off, you would get penalized for loosing your mech. the other team tries to stop you. the more stuff you destroy, the more you support your invasions. 8v8 would work well here.

I don't support replacing 12v12 with 8v8. I think that would be a step backwards for the game. I do think that an 8v8 game mode or mission type could be fun if it is done right though.

Well, it's wise to do a stepbackwards if that step improves the game.
8vs8
- faster drops
- less MM issues (easier to group ppl inside the same tier)

Also, I couldn't read anywhere why 12 vs 12 should be a step forward, and for which reasons

Having 8v8 for quick play and 12v12 for faction warfare would be fine with me.
