Not to mention the fact that for me when I go through and look at the queues before joining one, most are completely empty.
I am giving up, I have had 10 drops the entire event in invasion and have been trying to play it for at least 20 hours. I am done with FW until queue times get better.

That is only true if you don't form or join a pickup team via your faction TS. If you are dropping with a completed group of 12 people (from various units) then you can basically choose your wait time:
If you don't care where you drop, then you can often get an instadrop because on some planets there is already a full team waiting for an opponent.
If you drop on a specific planet where there is no team waiting, you wait at most 10 minutes with the risk of a ghost drop. Most of the time however a team will form on the opposing side within those 10 minutes due to the "Call to Arms" functionality being triggered by your waiting.
Obviously your mileage may vary depending on what Faction you are in and what Timezones you play. My experience is in the Euro Timezone and the NA Timezone on weekends during the event.

I landed up going with the Ebon Jag, even though I'd made attempts to come up with reasonable builds for the Warhawk and Ebon Jag both. However, I kept landing up with "PPCs are too hot" as my final answer for the Warhawk, as nothing else looked like it could be put into a stable "knock your enemy around to your heart's content" loadout. This caused me to talk with others about my final pick, and so I landed up going with the Ebon Jag instead, likely because many of them knew my prime combat styles. I just hope I don't land up regretting my choice later in following the crowd's recommendation, but I've at least got one or two build setups in mind for that 'Mech that just got added to my bays.
I am left curious, though... What caused you to grab a Warhawk, instead of an Ebon Jag?

I also bought an A variant, and have added the AMS right torso module and swapped the arms. 1 Ultra-10, 1 LBX-10, 1 ERLL, 1 AMS, stock 20 DHS, Comp Mk1. +10% ballistic cooldown, +10 AC and LBX velocity from the pods, and another 5% AC from the computer, -10% spread and -30% jam chance.
I like building to quirks, if a mech has any. And if it doesn't have a jam chance reduction I do not bother with ultra's at all.
I am going to add a -B variant to build to a missile boat comparable to one of my battlemasters, but with a stronger secondary battery and more ammo probably.

So i have two new shiny toys in my hangar, King Crab and Raven... And of course, it mean i have to buy more to skill them. Raven aren't a problem, but KGC will certainly take longer. Thx anyway for extending the event, i could complete those scouting challenges without having to force myself to chain missions.

Because it was highly dependent on which faction you were fighting for, and I chose poorly.
Other then that it was fun, and pushed me to complete many scouting and (too) many invasion games
PS : Never met the Long Tom gun, which may be a good thing.

I've played regularly since closed beta but quite frankly am bored stiff now. Gave it a break for 3 weeks and nothing other than more bloody mechs.. CW is a farce - seal clubbing at its finest
Shame really. had such high hopes

This particular Warhawk has a CT energy slot so with the correct arm pod you can do 4 LPL with a shield side.
I can usually do one alpha and then 2 + 2 afterwards... Once elited, it gets even better.

The scouting intel held me up the most. But I got in early to get that done a week ago.
Yesterday I noticed some people just collecting intel and not worrying about winning the match, which was disappointingly selfish, and made it harder for us to win the Invasion matches due to Long Tom.

The 'hardest' (and i say that with the lightest use of the word) was 180 intel points, 10 days was far to long for a simple challenge and if you struggled you did it wrong.

I started late but the intel just needs a bit of grinding to achieve, I could not achieve that at first till they extended the deadline. Hence, with the extra time I tried to complete the invasion challenge too, but alas, I could get everything done except for the 15 wins.

For those saying it is impossible to drop solo and complete this, you are not fully correct. I dropped solo for most of the event, and worked almost every day of the challenge.
When dropping solo you have to look at each planet and see if there are more guys fighting against you than with you. Use your faction chat to find a hotbed. When you drop, realize there is a team goal and you need to work together. If this is realized you will have no issues. The quickest way to lose in faction play is for everyone to serve their own agenda.
Find a mech that suits you well in that environment. There are many good mechs on both sides. Go get one and have fun.
