I have 75 mechs on this account.
5 of them carry 2xAMS (Firestarter, Locust, Wolfhound, Jester, Black Knight)
1 of them carries 1xAMS (CTF-4X)
69 are without AMS

I have a Clan account with 46 mechs.
1 of them carries 3xAMS (Nova)
45 of them are without AMS.

I just don't find a single AMS to be worthwhile. Maybe if they were effective against SRMs, I would equip them more often.

How about you?

I have a few like you who have dual ams because i feel they should have them since few mech can have dual ams. But ams are a worthless waste of tonnage, a roleplaying tool at best. And i mean roleplaying as pretend playing not actual role. Unless your whole team carry ams and you stick all together and pray the enemy team got nothing but lrm, there's no use for ams.

Maybe Tier1 pilots don't need AMS and deny to lrms boat to rain on them by taking cover or be sneaky ... Posted Image

None maybe one or 2 assauts max...
For my part i prefer take a BAP if i have free slots & tonnage.

None of the ones I pilot regularly have AMS on them now. I'm sure those I used to pilot during the LRMpocalypse do, though. In fact, I know for certain one of my Stalkers has the double AMS on it still.

If PGI would give even a tiny bonus to those helping cover teammates with AMS, I'm sure people would be more apt to bring them, but I don't see it being a big thing in competitive/tier 1 play just because of how they play differently from most CW+lower tier pub matches

Ironically, there are virtually no assault mechs in the game with 2AMS. (1 Battlemaster variant, 1 Stalker variant, 1 Atlas variant). Most Clan assaults don't even have a single AMS hardpoint.

Zero out of my 69

It's mostly because I'm only interested in Laser AMS, and am awaiting that to be added to the game.

Anything heavy or above does typically with a handful off exceptions.

The potential risk of getting stuck on polar or alpine while moving in between covers is high enough that it's work 1.5-2 tons usually.

Also my STD engine wolfhound with dual AMS which I like to run in group of 4 identical mechs to screw over streak boaters.

About 80-90% of the mechs I play currently have AMS (mostly mediums), some of those that can carry two have two. Not sure how effective it is but at least now I can disable it when I'm trying to be sneaky.

All of them, 110 Mechs

Except for the Cicada X5, for some reason its the only mech in MWO that does not have AMS

In lore only a handful of mechs could carry AMS, but here everyone can carry it EXCEPT the X5

Zero. I actually know how to play, so I don't have to waste tonnage on useless crutches.

I don't need AMS because ECM and Radar Derprivation are too powerful already.

My Assaults - my IS Mechs have to much weight/space constraints in weightclasses below Assault.

None.

I don't waste tonnage on something that is more placebo than actual aid, and only works against one weapon system that may or may not be present and you can also usually just play smart to avoid. (Polar domination vs. massed LRMs sucks)

What's funny about this comment to me, is in the ~40 mechs I play regularly, only two have ECM (the DDC and an HBR) and almost none are wearing radar deprivation anymore. I find that I can use TIG to better ascertain where to put my alpha to good effect, which is actually performing better for me overall.
