Is it me? Or did Russ throw out a Nova Cat hint?

In any case, I'm pumped for getting the Night Gyr. This is one `Mech that has never seen the light of day. . . in any of the version of MechWarrior. . .and thqat includes MechWarrior 2 series.

My question is though is will it light up with each as described in the TRO?

....

Aside from the fact that Nova Cat is based on the Night Gyr, I don't think that this MechPack indicates anything about Nova Cat.

3059.

Currently 3052-3. It isn't that far away for 1:1 ratio compared to OTHER mechs... (ie the famous Mad Cat mk II) and lots of people think soon™ time jump to 3060 will happen... also Russ stated he fears the balance issues related to heavy lasers or ATM's... which Nova Cat Prime and other configs can avoid.

I think it's a mech that's on the RADAR right now but won't happen in the next 2 years. Beyond that it'll definitely be one of the first coming when it can.

Ok. I was on the brink to create another Night Gyr thread. But asking here, can we expect a pre-order pop up today? I could swear Russ said last week that possibly next week (this week) either tuesday or wednesday?

I think the Night Gyr will be a nice alternative to the Timber Wolf since both are 75 tonners with some differences. I usually like the not so popular/ unknown/ unusual mechs. Of course there are exceptions, many like the Mad Dog, I do as well.
Like judging my mechs regarding clan. I have Kit Fox, most IMO go for the Adder,, I got the Nova, alot go for the Stormcrow, Timber Wolf? Nah I went for the Summoner, Warhawk? Dire Wolf (I do think people prefer Warhawks over Dires, not counting the second wave and third wave mechs).

Dundundun! Think of that, getting two mechs in August (judging by the Town Hall talk), Cyclops and Nightgyr Posted Image
I dont complain a long as quality is there. Hitboxes, volume, hardpoints, *sigh* quirks..

Debatable, the arms are going to have the same available crit space as the EBJ, which means an Ultra 20 will fit, and 2 Ultra 10s in each arm is technically possible. But the all around best variant is the D, because both the head and CT components have weapon slots. In fact, the D is the only one with a CT hard point.

Laser vomit lovers will undoubtedly go for the D if they can, and obviously use the C RA, A LA, and Prime R&L torsos, for a grand total of 9 E mounts, at least 3 of which are going to be shoulder/head high if the concept art is any indication.

That said, I have to admit, the concept art looks way better than the original art, (not that it set the bar very high), and I do like the fact this thing can pack balanced weapon loadouts if you choose to. It's on the slow side for a Clan heavy, but maybe the amount of firepower it can bring will make up for that. I guess we'll see.

LOL... email says it's an Assault. Posted Image

38 tons of pod space, so yes it has more than the TBR. But it's also slower (300 XL = 64.8 kph).

Looks to me like only the torso and head hardpoints will be considered "high" so it might be lacking in that respect.

And dem shoulders... Posted Image Good thing this isn't an IS Mech 'cause it ain't gonna be "XL friendly" in any way!

Beamspam runs out of critical slots for heat sinks long before it runs out of tonnage on the Night Gyr. You kinda have to mix loadouts on the thing to use your tonnage efficiently. Which is mostly what people wanted out of the Night Gyr anyways, so hey.

The Hero provides precisely two hardpoints not otherwise available - a second LT ballistic and a second RT missile. They may be useful for some builds, but I doubt they're going to be so crushingly necessary the PEE TWO DUBBLEYU folks will screech (any louder than they already screech, anyways), especially since the 'Mech is dripping with ballistics already as it is, and given that missiles are not the function of the Night Gyr.

What's more concerning is that there's not one single elbow to be had anywhere on the entire 'Mech, if the preorder screen is to be believed. No lateral traverse on the arms whatsoever, for any build. On a 'Mech as mobility-limited as the Night Gyr, that's going to cause problems. Especially if its twist arcs are as truncated as any Clan machine with any sort of firepower capacity ends up with. The Night Gyr is going to carry truly nasty firepower, no doubt...but it may not be the most difficult thing in the world to outmaneuver.

Nope, RA maxes at 1 ballistic (Prime/A/B all the same). And with 5 fixed structure in the Left Torso, you can't fit two UAC/10 there. So there won't be any 4 x UAC/10 builds.

I guess we'll see... I find that heavies don't often use 9E due to heat constraints. It's certainly possible, but usually involves small lasers which aren't as useful on a 64.8 kph chassis.

My guess is that the D CT will be largely irrelevant unless it's a high mount. The 9th energy hardpoint probably isn't going to matter because 4 x CLPL with something to back them up is the likely energy loadout.

Though my experience with dual CUAC/10 on the Orion IIC does make that plus some lasers very tempting...

The hero is of no interest at all, since with only 5 slots per ST you cant make use of that extra ballistic (lol no, MGs and AC2s need not apply), and this wont be a good SRM mech to make use of the double missile either. Safe to ignore for me.

In fact the complete lack of lower arm actuators is making me strongly consider giving the whole mech a miss tbh. I do very much want a proper dakka capable clan mech, but im not sure this is it now. Was very much hoping PGI would allow LAA options on the Hero to give me a reason to buy it, and the mech as a whole...

Don't everybody get to hyped it's still a clan mech and will get nerfed to a medium load out within the very next patch. You'll have 1 month of fun the you'll park it and take your Timberwolf.
