How could Koniving ask such question???

Easy -- wasn't in the mood to pull up Sarna.

(Plus, admittedly, I favor the IS. We're so blatantly overpowered in MWO it isn't even funny to joke about.)

(Unless we're talking about Cataphract 4X. This thing used to be so incredibly fun and effective... Now I feel like a giant center torso where my rear is being hit when enemies shoot my front and 70+ front armor is shredded in less than 3 seconds by Inner Sphere Laser Vomit. Furthermore, a mech known to be slower than a snail because of the trade-off of weapons, ammo and armor... can do the weapons, the ammo, and can't get the armor because everyone's got nearly max armor already.... and yet the structure quirks of this Cataphract are the same as all of them? No armor quirks at all?)

But I digress. It's an Omnimech.

Actually, the Night Gyr was in the 3050/3058 BATTLETECH sourcebook which was first published in 1996 (according to Sarna) and StarCraft came out in 1998.
Imho MWO's Night Gyr does look like a Terran marine and an Armored Trooper VOTOMS' Scoopdog blended together.

I was geeked when I saw that the Night Gyr was coming to the game. Why? Because I wanted to light up a night sky with laser heat sinks. Since I'm only PUGing in lieu of action in FW and don't use my Clan mechs much anymore, there has to be either nostalgia or novelty in a Clan mech's favor for me to buy it. The Night Gyr had the latter until I saw there were to be no laser heat sinks. So sorry, PGI, but no cash for you.

Wait so this is supposed to be the totem mech for JF, like the Kodiak was for GB ? What happened to the Turkina D:

Well since it's not an official totem mech for JF, I guess this means we can still get the Stone Rhino for Smoke Jags, so I'm ok with it :y

Ah what the heck, I pre-ordered the damn thing yesterday along with the Cyclops ... (guess I have the MWO shoping fever Posted Image)

IMHO concerning the crit slots, there's got to be a build that will make it a worthy opponent and a good pilot will take advantage of it.

Wow, thanks for pointing that out! Would be fun if NTG would not be affected by the environment as lore suggests.

BTW it looks like the whole shoulder assembly was taken right from the Kodiak. I am not a fan of reuse, but it actually looks good! I'll look how good/bad arms hardpoinds will be on Kodiak first, before I'll make my preorder (oh, I'll likely do it anywayPosted Image )

The locked equipment still allow it to carry pretty snazzy loadouts and the Omni system permits such builds to be created, e.g. Gauss+4ERML.

So new unique light mechs when?

about 6 years from now.

Not a single light mech in timeline is 'unique'

Oh hey look a wasp: it's just a 5 ton lighter commando with Jumpjets and even worse hardpoint problems
Oh hey look a stinger: oh hey look a wasp that traded 1 srm 2 for a machine gun
Oh hey look a Valkyrie: wasp that's heavier.
Oh hey look a hornet: basically a urbie-pseudo-wasp
Oh hey look the Icestorm, only unique feature is that it's 190 kph and a 'light' performing mech for clans. to bad that very 'trait' si why it won't get added
Oh hey look, the firemoth, just an ice storm that's lighter and got MASC... even less likely to be added.
Oh look a Piranha... most likely will get 50m+ spread of MG's since PGI is scared of 6 mg light mechs so much that they made mg's useless in lower quantities. Why will they add a mech with 12 mg's?
Oh hey look a pouncer- oh wait that's a medium mech.
What else... Locust IIC? Commando IIC? Urbanmech IIC? Well you can assume how 'origin' those designs are by name!

We won't get any 'significantly' new or unique light mechs until the likes of the Cougar or Osiris is added and even then we'll be back at waiting for a new 'unique' light mech...

Sorry, if you do not consider much of t he current ones unique you will not find any new ones unique either.

Laser Heatsinks simulated? (Night Gyr), advance battlemech computers? (Cyclops),
I'm really surprised we're basically getting 2 new 'hardware'. the last time we got anything new was the targeting computers and their impact on the battlefield is rather... 'minute'.

I like it, though. Honestly, these were the things I was originally hoping would be quirks, as opposed to what we ended up with. Unique, mech by mech perks that lend something unique to each mech, based on lore. For example, the Crab is supposed to have an insane sensor array, and it would have been fitting to have some sort of passive benefit like, say, a free Active Probe like effect baked into the mech.

Instead, up until now we've had rather bland and simplistic quirks. Nothing particularly flavorful. The Cyclops, and perhaps the Night Gyr, will be breaking that mold. If they offer unique utility, even if there's another mech with the same exact capabilities otherwise, it creates a distinction between the two chassis.

This new attention to detail, and willingness to do so, makes me think something changed internally at PGI in regards to their understanding of how to manipulate the coding for their mechs. If they are willing to do it now, maybe they learned how to do something new. I like that.

The daka is strong with this mech. A Clan 75 tonner that can have 4 Ballistic hardpoints. If there is enough podspace it can be the cornerstone to an Invasion drop deck on those hot maps.

6. 7 with the hero. But 6 otherwise. 6 UAC2 and 8 tons of ammo would fit.

Interesting ballistic option at 75 tons. The engine also fits that role. If I want to drive a Clan Mech at that speed I'd probably pick a Warhawk, though.

Dont forget the Flea, same problem as with the Fire Moth. Wont be added because PGI cant get MASC right on neither IS or Clan mechs it seems. And thats for ONE variant of the Flea only, the hero I think. Even with a bit more firepower, less profile and a bit slower it "cant" be added because its to similar to the Locust. Yeah right because theres no other mechs in the game thats similar, oh nononon. And sure there were NO problem adding the Urbie at all just because its a community "mascot". Give me a break..

Hey, don't speak bad of those - the whales love their Gundams and want them in the game! Let's not drive our whales away Posted Image

PGI can release a "Classic Light 'Mechs pack" consisting of 3-4 'Mechs with a reasonable price.

There is enough pod space, trust me. This is the Clan omnimech with more free tons after the Dire Wolf: 38 tons with max armor.

By combining the right omnipods, you can have up to 7 ballistics. Personally, I will run a 4xUAC5s + a couple of lasers.
