Now .. give the Founders Atlas back it's glowing red eyes to be activated on the missile door button.

Sweet mother the kodiak...well looks like I'll be gettin one now lol

As i remember, Founder Atlas had a single green eye (and it didn't even glow), while the basic Atlas had two glowing red ones.

But yeah, i would love if i could toggle my Atlas's eyes to glow. Same thing with the Cyclops, i'm hoping i can get its eye to glow too!

Any new Mech they make can have something "happen" with the weapon bay door button if they wanted to...

I'd like to also see some of the older mechs, like the Atlas' eyes turning on/off....or the hand on mechs like the Dragon closing and opening, etc.

Exactly. Its just another assault that I get to torment with light mechs.

With a 400 engine to power twist rate, and double arm actuators to assist traverse speed and arc of arm lasers, you might not have such an easy time of it with this one.

Fluff pieces, are nice touches that show effort, and thought. Without them we might as well play on a spreadsheet.
Fluff should always make the list. Otherwise there's no reason to be playing a mechwarrior game instead of every other generic shooter on the market.

Fluff should make the list AFTER they get the basics right, otherwise you're right, we may as well be playing another generic shooter.

KODIAKS ARE NOT MEANT TO MELEE!!!!!!!!!!!! The claws on the Kodiak were meant for aesthetics only, Clans loath melee combat, and for you clanner asking for melee, you need to brush up on your lore before opening your mouths.

Cool.

Though I'm pretty sure DFA counts as Melee?

That said, most of us are commenting on the cool visual factor, nothing to do with melee.

Yay, overconfident assault pilots, even better. Looks cool. Couldn't the time have been spent cleaning up invisible terrain hitboxes?

Yup it could. Don't know how much terrain they could have cleaned up in the 15 minutes it took to add this, but sure, they could have.

Of course, the efficacy of what you are saying isn't the real point... since you're really just looking for another thin veneer of a reason to complain.

See my post here about functional vs "pretty" mechs.

I would love if MW: O was like WT in the sense of combined arms and I wish with a higher rating to have infantry and power armour too.

I really want to pilot a... you guessed it.
A nightshade!...
Yes. I named myself nightshade over a light stealth aerospace fighter in BT and not a flower and that most people who read my name will think of the flower but I do not care. SRM's raining from above and you have no idea from where is all that I care!

Probably not, no. This is almost certainly something the animator did when rigging up the mech, something done as a "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if" thing, as he was already working on that. The time to accomplish something like this when already working on the model is small. For that animator to open up a totally different workflow to spend 10 minutes looking at invisible terrain hitboxes he may well know next to nothing about? I'm sure he'd accomplish nothing in that time.

Yeah, its just something that the novelty will wear off in about 30 seconds after doing it, if the pilot can even see the claws doing it.

And now it will be the next thing anyone hears for the next 6 months about how cool it is. And show off the claws.

*shrugs* If it makes people happy, it's worth it. I know I'm still quite fond of the King Crab's claws.

wow great its claws retract...but if they dont do anything to help you ina fight then why care? Are you really gonna be paying attention to ur retractable claws when an atlas is trying to blow ur head off? Plz understand im not trying to be a downer or anything..it looks kool and im glad other ppl like it..but in my mind if it serves no purpose and doesnt help or hinder me in the game in anyway..wtf good is it?

I sincerely feel bad for folks like you. It must suck to not be able to enjoy something like this just for what it is, rather than what it will do for you.

Yes, it serves no purpose. Neither do battlemechs (tanks are simply better) and yet we clamour for our favourite designs.

Same with Camo in this game. Camo never helps you here, and generally doesn't hinder you. Camo isn't rendered at great distances, and that's the only time you're not going to notice a mech. So, it doesn't really matter what pattern you pick, it's not going to hide you.

Yet we so love our camo. Because it looks cool.

That's good enough.

People for some reason haven't got the news that the claws were never intended for combat in battletech!
It's completely ornamental as the kodiak is based of the ghost bear. An animal that lives on Strana Mechty. The capital of the clans in the Kerensky cluster. Which hint hint, is bear-like and has claws.

The fact these retract is the same as that Hood ornament you got that retracts just before you hit a brick wall, a truck, or when you are parking and do not like the neighbourhood.

it's to protect the pretty claws that are not fit for combat.

lol, just what we needed, Wolverine, Kodiak edition. So, instead of fixing bugs, or in game collision issues, we get...... retractable claws...... PGI has some serious issues.

As to clanners not using melee, it's a moot point here anyway since neither side can melee in MWO as there are no mechanics for melee in place. If there were, then we'd have the Hatchetman, and I'd be running around removing limbs from your clan mechs. :P

Not to mention, though some clan mechs have "Hands" many of them are unable to take advantage of them and wouldn't be able to punch with them, and all those birdlike legs? really hard to kick with those, so it's no wonder that they don't use melee. DFA, on the other hand, perfectly viable tactic... assuming you have JJ's.

I would just like to take a short moment to thank Wintersdark for valiantly defending the general feeling of 'giving a **** about things that are like good and stuff because I can be happy about things if I want to.'

thanks brah

Care to name any current bugs involving animations that desperately needs attention?
