Broadwell didn't use EDRAM as a real cache, it's more like an accidental fallback cache
Skylake brought some architectural changes that uses the eDRAM as a full blown lvl3 cache
Time will tell if Broadwell-E has the same changes
Most games are hardly CPU limited these days
High core counts and HT needs to be kept fed, more cache might quite help in actual cpu bound scenarios
But besides MWO I don't really know more CPU bound games
Or well games that thirst for every little ipc strength you can coax out
That being aside
A cpu like that might last you 6+ years these days
