I'm not sure about the ELH, but have you read "Star Lord" at all? Pretty sure that chronicles part of the Fall of the Star League... Been at least ten years since I read that one though, so don't quote me on that.

if I recall correctly it does touch on it as a prologue, but the story itself was "modern day".

What I would love to see, as noted, is the way Dragonlance went and covered their historical Heroes and Villains with novels.

-The Kerensky Trilogy (Aleksandr Kerensky, that is) with Bk 1 Being his Youth and rise in the SLDF. Bk 2 being the Amaris Usurpation and Liberation of Terra (maybe even 2 books in that alone, but one told from the point of View of Amaris as he plots to avenge the Rims World Republic against the Camerons) and the 3rd Bk, the Exodus trhu Kerensky's death.
- Rise of Comstar, Jerome Blakes story
- Toyama and the corruption of Comstar
- The Minnesota Tribe
- an Heir to the Dragon type book chronicling the Last Days of the Star League and leading to the First Shot of the First Succession War
- Kentares
- The ELH Trilogy as earlier outlined
- The Birth of the Clans Trilogy, told in Stackpole/Coleman not Thrustons dry put me to sleep style.

etc. Just so much that could be told there, and I'm sure there are 3x more stories I haven't even touched. If you read the House Books, they all have Heroes and Villains who could fill a novel themselves, and give more fluff to the Btech Universe.

Yeah, I see what you mean there. That's a great big gray area in BT history that begs to be filled.

Hopefully with the resurgence of BT/MW novels thanks to CGL and HBS, this might get filled in at some point.

I wish I had any writing capability...I would love to pitch this to Herb Beas or Randall Bills though. I have a feeling most of their effort will be Dark Age era, but the release of Era Sourcebooks leaves me hopeful. Especially since I would much rather play these eras. Problem is CGL wants us to play in 3145 and as such they will try to herd us there, regardless.

It's a shame because you also have the Age of War, Birth of the Star League, Reunification War, all which would sell more sourcebooks and minis. I'd play an obsolete tech campaign in a heartbeat if there was more source material to fluff it out with.

I feel like I'm a somewhat decent writer. I've actually been haphazardly (i.e, entirely mood dependent) writing a novel in my spare time based on Dream Pod 9's Heavy Gear franchise. It's easier cause I've got like 80-90% of the rule and source books for that game. I'm only missing a half-dozen-ish books that I'm aware of.

If I could track down the original BT rule/source books, as in all the TROs with all the Unseens, all the house and merc sourcebooks, I'd be tempted to take a crack at writing a novel for BT too... But I have the feeling doing that would be ridonkulously expensive compared to Heavy Gear, which I've actually gotten really good deals on all those books.

Test of Vengeance features the Atlas a bit. Unfortunately, it is on the losing end of a duel with an Elemental.

Well that's what you get when you attack a galaxy of 1875 of the little buggers with just 12 mechs...

Okay, forgive me, but I've never read a BT book. I would really like to, but where the hell do i start? They seem so all over the place.

Depends on your interests.

I would say, start at the beginning, though. The Gray Death Trilogy, followed by the Warrior Trilogy. By the time you get done with those 6 you should have enough familiarity to pick you path from there, though if mostly curious about the Clan Invasion era we are playing in, one could jump right into the Blood of Kerensky and get a pretty good feel without too much confusion.

And Victor Milan might have had a different tone, but it was so penny dreadful/comic book silly, that it's hard to recommend except maybe to Tarantino fans.

Whaaaaaaat. That trilogy is one of my favorite slices of the Btech universe.

There are only a handful, like Far Country, DRT and Ideal War that I consider outright bad.

I must like awful things. : /

I liked most of the early/mid series books and the books at the end that wrapped up the Victor/Katherine storyline. I remember a few of the novels in the last half of the series just copied the Impetus of War plotline and madlibs'd the characters and planets.

The possibly outnumbered protagonist force runs afoul of the probably superior antagonists but luckily the main character can use guerrilla warfare to wear them down and hold out until help arrives.

That's fantastic.

I personally suggest...

Close Quarters, Hearts of Chaos and Black Dragon, by Victor Milan. The books actually revolve around the units Scout, Cassie Suthorn (Not a mechwarrior), but as a member of Camacho's Caballero's there is plenty of mech action. I highly Suggest these "If" you can find them.

So, question is which books have atlas, stalker, raven, catapault that are kinda written like robert thurston's jade phoenix tril? Seems like people like L. Coleman too.

I'm reading "Hector" by J.Schmetzer (an ebook). The main character is a capitain of an assault mech company fielded against Lyrian Commonwealth forces.
I'm at 50% of the book and it seems good so far.

I'd like to buy the Blood of Kerensky trilogy to read on my Kindle but is impossible to find in ebook format :( . It seems that it was removed from the catalogue. Had the publisher copyright issue for this books?
