One more thing....

This game is going to have attack/defend scenarios.
For the BV/Tonnage, the Urbanmech is a great Defense mech.

So for all you people saying it is useless. You are just plain wrong.

Yeah, I dunno, if this mech builder I'm using is anything to go by, give it endo steel and ferro-fibrous and drop the small laser, you can boost the speed and strap two medium lasers on instead. Makes the urby a lot more sustainable and a whole lot meaner.

I still find it funny people calling urbanmechs pay to lose. thier slow speed is really the only bad thing they have, they have armor that most medium mechs dont have, and fire power to drop a light mech. Once clan tech kicks in, give them an xl engine and ferro-fibrous armor, along with an indo-steel Intenral structure and you can have a 5/8/5 (or was it 4/6/4?) Urbanmech with an LB10X and Med laser with 10 double-strength heatsinks.

Indeed, Thorgar, but wasn't the point of the urbie that it was a cheap defensive mech. Throw an XL engine in and and ferro-fib' and all of a sudden you have quite a 'spensive mech.

Also, as the combo you mentioned was quite bad ***, perhaps you should call that variant 'Hoodmech' :)

I thought it was because it was so bad/ugly that they should add it.

Just as long as its not the "forced" starting mech omg I would go ballistic
however a special urbies vs urbies battle would be fun every now and then

if there is a chat lobby we could all agree to do an all out urbie drop with all the different mods available it could be fun once in awhile

Strike the Urbanmech down and it will only become more powerful than any Atlas you could pilot. And it will haunt you as blue force ghost. Also, if Urbanmech hate continues, I will be forced to begin my own posts to bring the Firestarter into the game. A mech so useless . . . well its pretty useless. But I liked its look. So don't make me do it.

I see all urbie clan fights being the way we settle who has the most mettle for metal on metal action in MWO.

I love the urbie, it's a great platform for modification in the TT so I'm hoping it would show the same here. Even stock, it would be a great sniper, especially in urban maps.

I think they could pull off the ultimate troll and put urbanmech wreckage in the game but no playable urbanmech lol

but on a serious note, looking at the footage we currently have of the gameplay, the urbanmech looks like it'd get slaughtered in a couple minutes. When pretty much all of the other mechs can outrun you and outgun you then I see the usefulness of the mech rapidly going downhill. An Atlas moves at 54 Km/h an Urbanmech moves at 32.4 Km/h

Unless they start adding other mechs with serious disadvantages.

cause looking at the limited mechlab footage we have, it looks like the urbanmech would have even less room to "play with".

But I'm not saying they wont add it, I'm just saying they should focus on adding more useful designs. (and no where in there did I say that the urbanmech isn't useful, I'm saying that compared to almost every other battlemech its very limited in its usefulness)

your post is to PC for me, are you a politician?

back to ot.
i would defenitley use my little urbie. Cheap so i can put high level tech for nothing. mount 5 ac 2s on it for sniping or 2 ac 5s or mount 1 ac 10 or mount a ppc (which is possible in the new mechlab) the urbie is awesome due to its ballistics hardpoint.

the urbie can cover short, medium and long range. and from mw 4 multiplayer we have seen the usefulness of a jj sniper.(which urbie is)

I Dont think im going to be using an Urbie... my question is to the guy who wants to snipe with one, AC-10s dont have that much range. Are you confusing it with something else?

There should be all Urbanmech matches. Then I'd love to pilot the thing.

Locust is unseen unfortunately so it's another one of those Battlemechs that've been kidnapped by mean and nasty troll that lives under the bridge named 'Leegul Dromuh.'

My only issue with the ability of this poll to provide accurate information is simply that we don't know what level of customization will be possible. It could be that increasing the engine rating to achieve more speed is actually out, in which case I'd bet that pretty much all the people who voted 'sometimes the Urbanmech will be valuable, if it has a decent build' would revote and choose the 'no it's a trashcan' choice. For the info we have though, it's a solid poll.

*edit*

I think the people who love Urbanmechs also love AC2s

*/edit*

oooh Urbies with nothing but AC2s for weapons. that'd be an auto win right because of everyone's head's exploding on both sides at the sight of it and you'd be the only one left standing?

but i'm down as once in a while and in certain situations (defense scenarios, if they do add citiy fights)

It's cheap, but if someone wants to drop 10 mil on their Family Urbie, so be it.

I know I would.

I'd love to see it thrown into the game... some knucklehead would pilot it against me, and I can just repeatedly snipe him from range with a Gauss Rifle! ^_^

And then, surprisingly...you're finding out that it's capable of firing back. And that it jumped up high onto a nice perch where it can snipe to do it.

I can see these things making surprisingly nasty little snipers, considering they'll likely be tiny things compared to, oh, Hunchbacks. And even if it's one ballistic and one energy HP, you could go either way. Big ballistic or big energy weapon + extra sinks.

Funny how having a huge ballistic mount does that.
