Greetings Mechwarriors. Today I have a simple question. What will your loadouts be?*
*Any loadouts posted may or may not be taken, reverse engineered and applied to my own Kodiaks.

What, you mean you won't be running stock builds? I'm going to try running a stock KDK-1

If you see a flaming escape pod streak by the night sky in a match, that'll be me.

In all seriousness, I'm going to run whatever the max number of UACs I can fit on the KDK-3 is.

I actually did spend the time to figure out various builds that would for sure work with the crits and tonnage available. Alas none of the sites/programs that I know of let you do this for custom or upcoming mechs in this game. So I had to do it with various mechs and maths. And I didn't save any of them so now I forgot all of them. So I can't tell you... Basically... main point is, it would be really nice if one of the people that make those sites/programs would input the info for upcoming mechs or just let us theorycraft by setting our own perimeters for a custom mech.

But basically a bunch of ballistics with a couple of lasers and a ~xl375. Probably have my main be something like 4cuac5, lpl, 3erml or a mix of uac10 and uac5.

Quad Gauss, standard 250.

Not a glass cannon, more of a molasses cannon.

We'll see what the best combination is, I can see both 4UAC10 and the faster no-ghost-heat alternative 2UAC5 + 2UAC10 be good.

The other variants don't interest me as much, I'll try them stock and then find something effective to level.

Atlas sized with no structure quirks it might be a bit squishy for brawling, so my guess is the best builds will be midrange at least,

KDK-3 - 2xgauss, 2xLPL, 2xERML or 4xUAC 10, or 4xUAC5, 4xERML

SB - Atlas (UAC20, 4xaSRM6, 2xERML) or 2xLPL, 4xaSRM6

Standard laser vom for KDKs 1 & 2, 2xLPLs, as many MPLs as I can stuff into them. Top up

Rage - KDK3, 4xLRM20, TAG in a 400XL and absolutely nothing else, not even a small laser, no armour either, excess tonnage used for more lurms or heat sinks.

Kodiak 3 will, like others, be my Dakka Monster. Which build will be determined when I have it in the mech lab.

Spirit Bear is going to be some incarnation of brawler. SRM6+A in the missile slots, big ballistic and we'll see how I handle remaining space for the arm energy points. 100 ton assault brawler with MASC seems it'll be a lot of fun.

The rest, we'll see. Probably just hump the meta with 'em because reasons.

I'm considering autocannons plus lasers as one possible build, probably UAC5/UAC10 plus as many medium lasers as possible, and 1 gauss plus as many lasers as possible as another build.

I don't think I'll be doing dual-gauss as I currently have my Dire Wolf set up for that.

KDK3 with either:
- 4UAC5+4CERMLs
- 2UAC5+2UAC10
- 3UAC10+4CERMLs or CMPLs.
- 2UAC20 chainfire + 4 CMPLs

KDK1 probably with:

- 2LPL+6CERMLs, at least TC1.
- 2LPL 6CERSL 1UAC20

spirit bear with:

- 1UAC20
- 4SRM6+art
- masc and XL400

KDK4 with:

- 2UAC10 2LPLs 2CERMLs

KDK5 with:

- 2LPL+6CERMLs, at least TC1.
- 2LPL 6CERSL 1UAC20

Why so slow? Quad Gauss works fine with a STD300..

56 tons. Thats enough for 4 Gauss and 8 tons of ammo, and since Clan FF is more effcient than IS you will actually have space for another ton or two of ammo, so 9-10 tons... seems plenty, no? Certainly dont see a need to drop to a 250..

edit: 9 tons it is, because slots, if you take ES+FF. Still. 1350 dmg.

even in that case, if im in a light and i see a quadgauss somthing, i'll just try to get behind and shoot both ST rear. 2 alphas and GG the kodiak is now a stick.

Well, im not saying its a particularly good build, just that it doesnt need to STD250 levels of slow..

well i just really avoid to mount gauss rifles in any side torso of any mech. especially the slow ones.

I was thinking the same thing though with a 295 so you can run more arm armor for shielding. Maybe not really need but 1t lighter for only a tiny bit speed loss. Either one seems like a better idea for quick play at least. But I'm guessing he was planning on being waaaayyyyyyyy back so he would want a lot of ammo because of damage reduction. Perhaps a CW turret type mech.

well, while its true, that issue is a little over rated. Gauss does 20 points of internal dmg when it explodes. Thats less than a 2xLPL burn.. its not like an exposed ST with <20 points of structure left is going to last long anyway.
