The Kodiak Is What I Expected It To Be

Quite frankly, and this is just my opinion, I'm glad that the Kodiak isn't a Clan Atlas. It fills a niche that the Clans actually need and that the IS doesn't do a good job of doing (read: bad balance doesn't allow for it): putting into the game 2-3 fast Assaults of which one is 100 tons. You can either run the Clans with the Warhawk and Direwolf in the back providing long range fire or you can run the Gargoyle, Executioner, and the Kodiak and have really heavy Heavies sweeping the edges. I like the balance concept of that and I welcome the Kodiaks to the battlefield.

However, keep in mind:
The KDK's you're encountering today are:
Piloted by people new to the chassis
Likely lacking even basics, let alone elite skills/doubled basics.
Have very experimental builds.
I mean, I'll outbrawl a guy in an AS7-S brawler without even basic pilot skills when he's never piloted it before in pretty much anything.

This was exactly what I was hoping for to see from the Kodiak and it comes as I expected. This is what makes me happy. I think a lot of folks wanted it to be the Atlas. That it isn't is great because I absolutely love the concept of a 100 ton cavalry mech. Whether it be lots of UAC5s or two UAC10s/Gauss, doesn't matter. The KDK is going to be great even if it isn't the Atlas cause that is what is going to make it a lasting part of MW:O.

For us filthy Clammers, this is wonderful. We get a variety of solid Assault choices that aren't gimpy (even mechs like the Executioner which have a couple strong builds are exceedingly limited) but there's a KDK for everyone.
Warhawks aren't bad mechs, but they're highly limited too what with all those fixed dhs and limited hardpoints. Direwolves bring the hurt but they're all so painfully slow. Gargles... yeah.

Sure, which suits me too. I do think the Clans would like to have one Assault Mech that actually could soak punishment, though, just saying. Kingfisher?

I'd like that for the Clans. I just really worry about the implications of the light and powerful weapons on top of that much tank skin. Know what I mean?

Well, pre KDK, Mr Gargles was probably my fave Clan Assault (though I did lots better usually in my Hawk, but I like mobility, ya know?)
Still wishing my SMN would get a chance to shine. (But at least my Nova is getting tiny, maybe it'll finally be legit OK, finally)

Which is why it needs to be something with limited firepower potential, and locked Core. The thing that makes the KDK a bad choice for that is bookoo hardpoints and unlocked core to free up all the tons. Imagine an EXE or KingFishy, though, built to soak? Unless you boat SLs neither really can pack obscenity level firepower... and IDK, don't claim to be comp, but overall, even fast Assaults are too slow for the majority of MWO playerbase to abuse SPLs too much, ya know?

I just REALLY hope they dont nerf it...they literally made an absolute beast of a mech without any cheese builds (yet)

Well thats the same thing you can say about the Mad Cat...and people still think its "OP"
You cant have a mech thats good at what it does or someone screams OP.

Thats why i carry a UAV on all mechs...instead of typing it just pop the UAV and they see it themselves.
