If you aren't playing to win you shouldn't be in the game. After all, what is a game? A game is a contest between people with an objective to achieve. If you aren't trying to conquer, what's the point? You might as well be playing pat-a-cake baker's man.

Fun? Winning is fun. Losing is not.

The internet is serious business.

Winning is of course a goal, but it's definitely towards the bottom of my list. I'll take a good fight and a close loss any day over a win with boring tactics. I don't even cap on conquest if I'm the only light, It's just an absolute waste of a match running around standing in squares. It's all about having fun, not winning.

I can only hope he was being facetious, but one never knows with gamers.

He needs to get on mah level!

My real point was that I'm expecting an imminent flamewar between both polarized sides of this very...touchy issue.

Sounds like someone can't handle banter. If it really bugs you so much then mute the dude, but until then you might as well take Cranky's advice.

I'd defeat you with some of my certified witty banter, but I see I'm clearly outclassed, so I will say nothing.

Once again, this is all of us at each other's throats because PGI can't manage to separate players by skill.

or presumed skill.

Love to have a "comp only" sign up and enter at your own risk section. Give the Guds their skill playground they say they want, and to see how many come running back tail between leg to GenPop to farm Bads, once the going gets tough.

In a related note, I had a match today where 2 of us lights tied up 4 of the enemy. But apparently, the 10 vs 8 matchup we created ended in the slaughter of our teammates. And yet we were blamed for "not being there". What a bunch of idiots.

this is what makes me mad and sad at the same time...

That would be cool. That way you don't have any right to complain about scrubs unless you have a little star by your name. Of course you'll have guys that would stick around to club seals, but I'd wager more than less would sign up for the next level. But back to blaming PGI. CW was supposed to be where the people who cared about teamwork went. CW has always been like going hunting at the petting zoo. Then we've got this butchered tonnage mess of Group que. Screw PGI.

But Bishop, I thought the PSR was supposed to eliminate the farming of bads? Are you telling me there are bads in Tiers 2 and 3? This is unpossible. Sounds to me like more people just need to...Posted Image

Once again, I feel obliged to draw parallells to sports. These discussions would be so much easier if the people who "have a life" actually had more experience with sports in addition to video games. Because the "git gud" mentality wasn't invented by gamers, it's been a fairly common element in sports since the dawn of time.

I'm sure a few of you have at least dabbled in martial arts. You will know this already. Put a youtube video up where you're instructing or competing in martial arts, and 70% of the comments will most likely be "git gud" in some form or another. It's the same with most sports.

As for this droll stereotype:
"Never mind the fact that the "Git Gud-ers" are most likely underemployed losers living in their parents basement and only a game to give them an ego boost.
Too bad most of them don't "Git Gud" at real life"

You have to keep in mind that being competitive is a trait that often transcends hobbies. Competitive people are often competitive in many aspects. They want to be the best guy at work, they want to be best at sports, they want to be best at computer games, they want to win board games on double-dates with their wife. I've encountered many people who were competitive video gamers, who were also great athletes. Because their competitive nature drove them to work hard at several things in life.

There are neckbeards too, obviously. But to simply assume "git gud"ers live in a basement is bit silly, even though I'm sure it's very cathartic. They may be super-competitive *ssholes, but that doesn't necessarily mean they have nothing else going on.

(I don't include myself in this, by the way. I am neither very competitive, nor do I have anything going on in my life)

Theres a big difference between what this article is talking about and what we mostly have in this community. Over here most of the time when someone says git gud its a joke. I havent seen much actual toxicity.

But then you compare this game to say... world of tanks and the difference is profound. Over there players cant even post constructive (not this OP!! NERF THAT!!! posts but actual well thought out ideas) without some a**hole looking up their stats and announcing to all the world that they are utterly unqualified to have feedback and only unicums (top 1%) can talk about the game.

Most other communities have gradations of toxicity based on their imbalances. AW was mbt OP (they legitimately were) and then the unskilled mbt masses are like "git gud afv scrublord" nvm its impossible to git gud when mbts automatically spot everything in a 360 degree ring around them out to 400m (like a third the map in AW).

Then warthunder was bussian rias.

Sure we have imbalances but as far as i can tell no one is really killing each other over them. And not many people are really being serious with the whole git gud thing. Big reason im here and not playing "those other games."

Seen it typed in chat and to those who use it I laugh at your ten year old mentality. One bad match doesn't mean you suck at the game. You just had a bad match and with all the disconnects due to server issues that pgi themselves has admitted to as well as saying they won't have a hot fix till monday at the earliest you might want to read this:

There is a certain percentage of the population of childish mindset and runaway ego that is not interested in contributing anything useful to any discussion. They have no facts to back up their claims, no points of interest to discuss - no, instead everything is a mindless epeen competition, with them desperate to prove that they are "better" than others. A depressingly large number of these types would rather let a problem to spin out of control vs. fixing it just so they can laugh at the victims and "prove" how superior they are. They are the types that respond out of hand to every post with BS like "git gud or git rekt!" usually followed up with idiotic personal attacks and insane delusions. While the internet brings this behavior to the surface, consider how wonderful these twerps must be in real life... ugh!

It's a place where people farm pugs, solos, and skittles in the most lopsided or boring of ways, and then citing git gud as a retort to any critism of the game mode and MM
