Allow me to once again state that the key to mwo happiness is to avoid events like the plague.

once again I do not own any of these mechs you talk about, I am a newer player so I dont understand what ST or any of the other abbreviations mean, and no I am not going to pay real money for a game that punishes newer players.

I don't see how this game punishes newer players. It just has a steep learning curve and you have to put some though into how you play based on your build. You can't just run around like CoD, shooting to your hearts content.

Even the archer event sucked balls if you were new and few complain about them. I don't drive assaults and i suck in the kodiak and am probably not the only one. A few times i have taken out my whm 6d just to re build my self esteem kills them fast enough. I don't think they are that special (kodiaks) and i am certainly not a clan apologist maybe they change in hands of better pilots.

I am one of the many who can not drive lights and assaults like they should, but I do not expect quirks if I spend "real money" for them. I also try not to complain if a good one sees me drop the soap either.

eh, I jumped on my alt account and did very well. In fact using the Hellbringer I blew through the kills most dmg faster than with the Kodiakss. Also did well with my other mechs.

Feel free to send me a friend invite and I can try to help out best I can. As far as trial mechs I'd recommend giving the Timberworlf and Battlemaster another go. I'm a big fan of the Battlemaster chassis and it's a decent loadout even if unskilled. You can alpha without heat penalty but it's still a hot mech.

What kind of build on you running on your Stormcrows? You may find it better to sacrifice a little firepower for more heatsinks until you buy the third and unlock all the skills!

Hey guys thanks for all the helpful comments, I did manage to finish the challenge thanks to the Trial Warhawk. I was very frustrated with the Kodiaks until I figured out how to beat them and had a couple decent teams with me (they are actually kinda squishy), so I am no longer on the nerf Kodiak bandwagon. I actually think the KDK-1/5 need the same perks, and even the KDK-3 is fine where it is.

Since PGI has raised the tonnage on quick play, those of us who do not own assaults cant get KMDDs any more. Kodiaks need to be nerfed, and the tonnage needs to be lowered back to where it was.

Kodiaks need to be nerfed because they are assault Mechs? No, being an assault Mech does not mean that a Mech has to be nerfed.

If you feel like you need to stand toe to toe with assault Mechs, tjen drive an assault Mech. Don't ask for assault Mechs to be nerfed just because they can inflict much damage upon the enemy. They are not called Medic Mechs, they are called Assault Mechs.

I do not believe that a 24 hour old account from a brand new player can simultaneously do all of the following (the implication here being that this account was created to whine from someone who's been playing for a while).

Understand the MM tonnage habits.
Not know what CT means.
Get 1400 DMG and 7 KMDDs in a single match.
Have legitimate opinions on the balance of a mech that's been a part of the game a few days longer than they have.

I am a newer player and I don't own any of those, events should be playable by newer players, but it seems like in this game newer players are only here to be victimized. Seals to club. (as someone said in another post)

1- In fact, events are playable by new players too... why you havent bought the kodiaks then?.
2- event did last 4 days, is not mandatory that you should kill everything in every chassis 24/7.
3- if you dont own a mech that can't face a kodiak or get in his back, support kodiaks in your team. who cares about KMDD if you're not scoring it in the mech for the event?
4- light mechs are the cheapest and the best mechs at taking out assaults.

i just think you're doing it wrong.

Kodiaks in quick play?
What was that?
Wasn't this some sort of LRM favorite snack or so?

Sorry.. But the Kodiaks really aren't all that OP. I bought them and I've killed more Kodiaks in Lights, Mediums and Heavies than I've killed mechs while piloting them. They're good, but like any other assault not that hard to kill.

Though people saying "Git good" might be annoying, they are in part correct. Play smarter, don't rush mechs like the Kodiak, Flank them, aim for soft spots, take out their torsos and they're just a 100 ton paperweights. Remember this is a "Tactical" game, though it may not seem like it more often than not, solid tactics for dealing with different mechs will go a long way.

The only gimps are on my team every game, I have tried all the trial mechs they all suck, I own 2 storm crows, but they just overheat too fast to do any damage.

There has been one consistent variable through all of your bad games. I suggest you work on the part of the equation you can influence.

Stormcrow with 5 streak 6s, the best farming mech in the game and easy to get KMDD. Just try and focus on lights and mediums.
