Um, maybe it's balanced due to the fact that it's got absolutely massive CT/ST hitboxes?
Yeah it can dish out a lot of damage, but it'd be really easy to focus fire and bring it down.

With PGI's new formula for how large a mech's volume should be based on tonnage, there is now a limitation to how large PGI is going to make any given mech. So making it larger may not be an option, though we won't know for sure until after the big rescale.

This is just a guess on my part, but I would figure the Annihilator wouldn't be much more than a head-height taller than the Atlas and the new Kodiak.
The Atlas and Kodiak are pretty much identical in terms of height and mass, and the Annihilator appears to be taller than the Atlas, but not by much.
I actually really want to see what Alex could do with this mech.

Bucky at least had a role when it was released as the only fast medium and lots of missile hardpoints and JJ in an era when SRMs still had splash damage and JJ hadn't been nerfed into the ground...
It was still awful... but not... you know... an absolute travesty.

I'm not sure it would translate well because of the low slung arms and really slow speed. Neither were much of an impediment for MM as I could deliver a 40 point alpha before many mechs could get in range to fight back.
That said, I'd still like to see it in game, but I think, as people have mentioned already, it'll need a bigger engine cap before some people will even bother with it.

Nobody in their right mind called the TBR or ACH dead on arrival. Additionally, each of those three mechs were the dominant ones in their respective classes for some time, with the reign of the TBR/DWF being very long in particular.
Your comparison and argument are invalid.
Whether you choose to believe it or not, some mechs have in fact been really really terrible and weak when they were released. Some of those mechs have been buffed into viability while others still suck to this day.

Wrong. I recall each had their own thread. In fact, almost every mech has had their own serious DOA thread. I have seen them. I tried to search, but nothing is coming up. I am more inclined to think they have been archived or search is broken though.

I'm not talking about mechs that people claimed were DoA, I'm talking about mechs that actually WERE factually DoA.
As one of the most drastic examples, the Vindicator. How the heck do you think that the Vindicator was viable when it was released? As a hint, it wasn't viable. It was the worst medium mech in the game. Even to this day, it's still terribad. If you think that the Vindicator was/is viable, then I can't really help you. You have to pull your own head out of the sand.

I managed to master my Vindi's no problem. And I don't need your help either nor was I asking for it.

I think the Annihilator is actually a great looking mech in its original form, and I'm sure there are others who feel the same.
There are mechs out there that I think are ugly as sin though, and don't know if even Alex could save them.

Oh yes, Annie is ugly, but I still like it, not the fastest assault, but would be fun.. and to those hatin' on the Vindicator... Just because "You" suck in them, doesn't mean everyone else does, I see members of my unit get good scores in them. Its not a brawler, its a skirmisher. The Annie.. thats a brawler.
