If you want to learn to pilot any and all mechs well the Centurion, HBK and SHK will all work well even if they do not fight at the highest (perceived) level anymore. I still play all 3 in solo Q when my unit does not make me drop in clan for FW.

Oh yeah - you kids get off my lawn

Admittedly I have a great deal of trouble using my AH.

An AC20 arm is almost instantly focused down if I go 1v1 with anything.

The SRM Backup weapons are pitiful when you consider how much tonnage the main gun and engine are, and you don't have light levels of agility to hit and fade.

I don't see how anyone can honestly claim to fight stormcrows in this and come out on top 100% of the time, given equal pilots.

An MPL Crow would likely just back off, stay out of optimal AC20 range, and leg you. A splatcrow would likely do the same, then try to run away and twist off your shots at it.

The Centurion is one of my favorite designs in lore and TT because of its "trooper" feeling and its appearance.

But I've never been able to bring myself to get one in MWO because - as amazing a job as Alex does on mechs - I think the MWO Cent is ugly as sin. Having an actual half-shield on the left arm is bad enough, but even worse is taking the slim "workhorse" appearance and stretching it wide into some kind of roided-up bodybuilder. And of course Yen-lo's paint scheme is, well...

So from my perspective Centurion will always be dead in this game, sadly.

Well, the concept art depicts it as a pretty slim Mech, the in-game 3D model however....

My... god. That looks so much better it's ridiculous. Still hate the shield and pauldron, of course, and the head is more hunched, but I would probably get it if they looked like that (but not the YLW).

Centurion dead ?
Not sure what kind of drugs op is taking but it's clearly something he should be sharing or taking less of

The only thing I agree with is giving the shield arm some more strength

If you still think anything else is needed then unnerf his hitboxes

Centurions were a force to fear
They dealt OK damage but nothing mind blowing
However their two medium lasers start to become a real problem when the centi just refuses to die

In no other Mech have I fought and still gotten kills at 4% hp
It just doesn't happen

But I have been alive , hitting out with medium lasers at such low HP a great many times

People seem to forget that the centurion is a force multiplier Mech
He is not a heavy hitter or any other kind of damage specialist

You take a cannon , some missiles and some lasers
Your at every fight
Helping every ally
Tanking for a Atlas
Peeling for lrms
Adding to lrms
Leading the charge
Guarding the flank

The centurion when piloted correctly is worth well more than its 50 tons

Use it accordingly

The Cent is fine as is. Hell... it was fine before quirks. It's just one of those mechs that due to it's hitboxes and design requires a good pilot for them to not be a death trap.

I don't win 100% of the time but in general when fighting a crow with the AH and wang just leg the suckers.

other mediums == catcher

or know how to use one.

I'd say if you find Centurions painful, that's a "you" problem. As they are still one of the toughest, most versatile Mediums in the game.

How is it versatile? It seems like such an AC/SRM 1 trick pony. I've been siting on this Loyalty Centurion for I don't know how long but I've never used it because I can't find a build I like. AC20/3xSRM2/big motor. That has a punch worse than my Jenner A. I can see how it was good 2 years ago, but it just seems so under-gunned these days.

Thing with the Centurion even now is that needs to be kept in mind is if four mechs are shooting at you that's four mechs that aren't shooting at your teammates. Now don't twist my words and bear with me but position, situation, and luck play a role in where you put that AC20 too. While dying with only 80 damage is shame on you, your family, and your cow if the goal is winning GG your a hero to your team for your self sacrifice.

The only thing Centurion needs is this:
Posted Image
(And maybe having its weapon geometry redone AGAIN, cause it's still ******* awful)

Making it's side torso's smaller would go a long way to helping it. That pic how ever still makes me think it's just getting ready for bikini season.

doesn't really need smaller STs (though hey you wanna make me even harder to kill, who am I to complain?) mostly because it's arms are massive and with minimal effort deflect incoming shots (and most have really really nice twist rates). Mind you, staring will still get you dead, lol.

Don't forget the missile pods. Those puny missiles are an affront.
Last not least the Centurion hardly need anything - but a larger Engine Cap. Seriously compare the ENF-4P with the CN9-YLW

Oh for sure trying to stare down a mech is asking for the opponent to be your angel of mercy and end it for you. It's an issue of what looks cool verses what would be practical. I lean more towards cool but it never ends well sadly.
