While launching the MWO Portal and clicking on Patch i´m allways getting the Windows-message: "Patchbot does not work anymore"

I´m running Win7 64. German version.

p.s:
I hawe deinstalled all MWO-Tournament files and downloaded the MWO-Portal agan.
Still the same result: After about 4000MB the Patchboot quits his download function with the Message: "Patchbot does not work anymore"

There is enough space on my HD so this can´t be the issue.

The Repairtool doesn´t work for the Tournament version also, message displayed is-> "Game was not found where it was expected to be. It may hawe been moved or deleted."

Ok, so, the first place I'd look for info would be in the patcher logs. The patcher logs are stored in your saved games directory. The simplest way to navigate there is to open the MWO Portal, right-click the MWO Tournament icon (the golden MWO on the left hand side) and click "Open Save Game Directory". From there, go into the patcher folder, and then into the PatcherLogs folder. The most recent patcher logs will be there, and the last few lines should give some indication of the problem.

The error message you're getting from the Repair Tool ("Game was not found...") is because it's having trouble finding the game's install base. This is because the repair tool expects there to be at least some files in the install location. I'm in the process of adding some new logic to the repair tool that will essentially remove this expectation, but that may take me another day or two to finish up. However, there are work-arounds. So, if we can't get the patcher/portal working (which I'm hoping we can), we should be able to at least get the repair tool going for you.

Ok, well, I will try to sort out what's going on with your particular situation and fix the portal itself, but given the looming start of the tournament, the goal is to get you up and running as soon as possible. So, to do that, I have a new version of the repair tool that should help out. It might be another couple of hours before it's ready for me to deploy, but I'll get it out as soon as possible.

One question - do you have the "regular" version of MWO installed on your machine (any hdd)?

Ok, deploying the latest build. This includes the new Repair Tool feature - copy files from existing install bases. This is done selectively, only files that have a matching hash will be copied (otherwise you'd just end up having to re-download those files anyway.)

Bundle version 1.0.47.0.

Again, kudos to Crispy Chicken for this idea.

update: I tried the copying main game folder to tournament folder trick... and now the repair tool launched from portal constantly freezes and is 'not responding' miday thru the scan. Launching the repair tool manually from the bin32 folder seems to work... hopefully it is fine running it this way..

If you just copied the files over and ran the repair tool from there, it will think that it's the main MWO version, it won't know that it's supposed to be the tournament build. So, you shouldn't run the repair tool directly from the bin32 folder.

You don't need to copy the game files over yourself, that trick is now obsolete with the latest version of the repair tool. Start with an empty tournament directory and let the repair tool copy files as needed.

I decided to start from scratch.. used the menu to remove the tournament version and ran the portal installer again. When I click on 'install' on the portal menu I have two options, 'REPAIR' or 'REMOVE.' The first time I chose 'remove' and now I am selecting 'repair' but I keep getting the following error: ''the patcher caught an exception! Caught an error while checking for the patch inventory in startPatchProcess()."

There is no repairtool option available at this point.

My first match is tomorrow.. this keeps happening... now what?

There's no repair tool option? So it's still greyed out? That's odd, in the latest version I deployed that should no longer be the case. Sorry, I'll double check that.

In the meantime, the current home of the repair tool is in the portal directory. If you used the default install location, that's
C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MWO Portal

If you run the repair tool from there, it should work, you just need to select "Tournament" in the drop-down menu above the green "Start Scan" button. But first, please double-check the title of the window and make sure that the repair tool version is 1.4.0.0. If it's an older build, then it's a sign that your portal really is out of date.

Edit: sorry, just re-read your post and something stands out to me - the fact that you're being presented with an install button in the portal, but when you click it it gives you the repair/remove options, which would suggest it wasn't correctly uninstalled. When you uninstalled it, you used Windows "Programs and Features", right?

Yes, right-clicking on the golden MWO symbol shows that all menu options there are greyed out. I now chose a different install directory than the first time and was able to avoid the 'patcher exception error.' It is now installing. If the install fails again this time around, I'll try using the repairtool.

Thanks for your help.

I ran into the same problem downloading the instal but running the portal's repair tool after that patched me up fine. Thanks again for your quick help!

It WORKS Posted Image

i hawe done it as said before

1) Uninstalled/deleated any older Tournament versions.

2) Started the patching process
-it stopped at 4096 MB (Several times)

3) I copyed the original MWO Files into the Tournament direction and overwrote everything with the old files.

4) Started the RepairTool (Version 1.4 ! )

= It´s fine and working.

Thank You very much Krist!!

Guys Please remember, if you are still installing the Client, and are about to run matches today, Please Setup your Mechs. There will be no waiting for Load-out changes due to tight scheduling for the Referees.

Actually, the speed in which the CLIENT saves mech changes compared to my regular client is so fast, I feel like I'm creating a rift in the space-time continuum and actually going backwards in time. So last minute changes shouldn't be a problem Posted Image
