Population Issue

Based on traditional allies you could merge
-Kurita, Marik, Liao
-Davion, Steiner
This would make the faction list from 10 down to 7 therefore letting factions have more population leaving all the clans seperate and keeping The Rasalhauge Republic as it's own faction.
Making the list of factions
-FedCom
-KML Allyship (Kurita, Marik, and Liao)
-Free Rasalhauge Republic
-Clan Ghost Bear
-Clan Wolf
-Clan Smoke Jaguar
-Clan Jade Falcon
This would also give all of these listed factions a Clan border.

IE: Kurita has an attack versus the kittens, Liao and Marik are allowed to attack the planet as if it was their own attack lane, providing that neither are currently at war with Kurita. Even if a Marik 12 man takes the planet, it still goes to Kurita, but the Marik unit gets their tags on it.
Aside from that, I'd like to see factions with a large number of active participants be completely disabled from making new contracts with mercenaries. That would have stopped the *********** we had in JF, last week, that sent FP into the death spiral that it is in now.
(Also, remove the damn Long Tom and replace it with another mechanic. A majority of the playerbase won't even battle if the LT is out and I don't blame them one bit.)

GhostBear/SmokeKittenz still couldn't win a match...
Dogz would only hold Falcons back (due to their leet PUG status)
Marik/Liao would be a thorn in someone's back....
RassleHugz/MortalKombat meh... (better than bear/cat combo)

i would say they should try the alliance route before doing something drastic as mentioned

but you cant have an alliance between jade falcon and wolf! THAT WOULD BREAK MY IMMERSION AND VIOLATE THE BOOKS! They are bitter rivals and they would never work together in an all out alliance.

- Keep maps as they are. Voting for attack targets might be a bit more interesting then.
- Reduce it down to 2 clan groups (Wolf/GB, JF/SJ), 3 IS (Rasalhague is healthy enough population wise to remain solo, Davion/Steiner, Marik/Liao/Kurita for the rest)
- Allow loyalists to accrue LP for any member of their alliance at no penalty (so all of a sudden loyalists can actually get something out of their faction rather than just sitting at rank 20 - whether that be low ranked people grinding for rewards without needing to do the mechbay tour as mercs, or high ranked players who don't want to leave their faction having the ability to actually get something else out of it).
- Only count active player pop (last month login) for calculations (whether that be merc cbill values, or whatever).
Edit: more factions means more vanity items you can sell. camo patterns, warhorns, hell more mech options - Blood Kite or Marshal anyone?

Whole game should have been Pre-Operation Bulldog/Post Operation Bulldog. Comstar and allied factions part of the same faction fight in the IS until they gain the required objectives to launch OP Bulldog into Clan space to kill the Jags or whoever else we vote to annihilate.
Solaris could be your chosen faction fighting for glory of your house. House squads in gladiator combat, but leave massive strategic OPS to ComStar rallying all the houses under their banner for massive war maneuvers.
Lore supports it. Game would benefit from it.
Each Season of FP would be multiple staged events.
1: Fight for the Innersphere.
2: Focused smaller events such as the almost full assault on FRR and the drop on DCMS Capital, which was repulsed. All IS players in the same pool. All Clan in their pool. Earn rewards based off your chosen faction.
Let Clans vote on which capital connected to their space lanes gets the round 2 focus. If they are beaten back, move onto OP Bulldog. If Clans win, go back to step one, fight your way to another capital, engage zoomed in grid type war on the new capital. Clans need a certain amount of Capitals to unlock ability to attack Terra.
3: Operation Bulldog. If IS win OP Bulldog the season is over. A clan is Annihilated.
Apart from WOB reveling their military might, those are about the largest actions worth noting.

So much this. This will really incentivize helping out your ally.
Although if this happens, people will probably be grumbling about how Steiner can only rank up with Davion while Marik can get LP for two other factions. Maybe a slight reduction, somewhere between 20 to 40% maybe, to the Kapteyn allies since they were never really close unlike Steiner and Davion which were united by marriage into the FedCom.

You don't need to kill any factions.
Wardens = CW+CGB
Crusaders = CJF+CSJ
FedCom = Davion, Steiner + add FRR for balance
Kepteyn Concordance = Liao, Marik and Kurita
Lore Friendly
IS v IS
Clan v Clan
IS v Clan
And pretty much follows every Alliance and Non Agression Pact made in FW so far.
No body loses anything. It's not rocket science.
FRR is a bit of an outlier, Pop wise they may need to go with the Keptyn Concordance, but that is a minor issue.
+1 to the idea of earning LP in the other factions in your alliance.
