Could even display unit tags (unit decals as well) on the map to show where units are based and fighting.
The map could show so much more information.

I like that idea a LOT. Would make for nifty info, you could even add in short blurbs based on what unit did that week, I.e. "x" unit fought a series of tough battles vs faction and managed to take 4 planets this week, culminating in their ownership of "planet name".

It's not there because it would break the Minimally Viable mantra.

Much better to switch single Clan vs IS, so that all can have both attack and defense missions on choose.
Something like Tuk style, but more than 1 attack and 1 defense planet at a time.

Even though the population seems to favour taking an IS contract there are more defenders on the Steiner side and more attackers on the FRR side, at least during the EU window. So the reduced contract payout is unpleasant but there should be plenty of action to be had.
Attack Steiner or defend against FRR? Choices, choices......
