I Do Worry About Pve... Not That It Would Be Unfun, But That It Would Render The Pvp Queue Empty.

Another possibility.

1. PvE increases the size of the player base, it draws new players to the game.
2. Oldbies who haven't played in months return.
3. The size of the quickplay / fw queue increases.

For sure. The tutorial is a great protype but doesn't feel like a very inspiring tutorial to me. It should have its own map for starters. The entire intro to the game needs work starting at the title screen. Have I mentioned how much I don't like the title screen? :)

It would most likely do the first one. It might do the 2nd one, it might do #3 for a short time, until players start to have more fun in PVE and just stay there.

I mean, PVE unless you just completely bork it, there is alot of immersion, play time and actually playing the game. PVP, you go in, the first 1-2 minutes is scouting out the enemy, the next 2-3 minutes is just a shooting gallery, which some players might have no play time at all, and others might get to shoot a little bit before dying and the game ending inside of 5 minutes.

PVE, its a mission, you play at your pace, you have to proceed and play through a set of different goals, you actually get to experience rompy stompy robots.

This is what you really mean doesn't it?

This is why we can't have nice things.

No. I genuinely believe that PGI is incapable of creating decent PvE experiences. This is the company that brought us such experiences as Bass Pro Fishing.

If PVE existed it would draw in more people who cannot handle PVP without the familiarity with mech piloting. PVE would give them an entrance point to the franchise. PVE is a long term necessity for the game.

Mechwarrior is actually the best in a PVE setting, PVP is for FP Human based shooters and Sword n magic games. Mechwarrior is a PVE, deep story line, coop game always.

While I enjoyed the PVE parts of the previous Mechwarrior games it was always the PVP that kept me playing for long periods of time. Mechwarrior just like the other game types you listed can exist as PVP and/or PVE and be both enjoyable and long lasting. You may not like Mechwarrior as a PVP game but there are plenty of others who would disagree.

All of that only works under the assumption that the PvE component will be done properly. But, this is PGI we are talking about. Posted Image

Companies devoting ALL their dev time to a PVE single player game have a hard enough time to attract and keep players. There is no room for half efforts and wishful thinking when that effort could be dumped into fleshing out their PVP core game.

No, you play the PVE story once, maybe even finish it if you can bear it and then play multiplayer. Thats how all games that ship with both game mode works, a little bit of pve then full pvp.

I believe it would help the game, new players will try pve first, get told how good they are versus crippled AI while practicing, learning and getting better at the game and then move to pvp where it's at.

Just roll the Tutorial into a PvE Campaign leading up to Community Warfare. Where the Campaign(s) leave off, CW starts.

Many people wanted MW5 but instead of that we got MWO and were forced to compromise. I would love to come back and play some PvE.

PvE would certainly bring people back and maybe some would even stick around for some PvP.

I don't play this game because it is PvP, I played it despite the fact it was, because I had no option.

Now assuming that I can ever get the enthusiasm up to a level, where I want to log in again, and I'm guessing that part of me wants to, or I wouldn't bother coming to the forums, if a worthwhile AI system was introduced, to allow co-op, or a campaign my PvP days would be over.

i still think a(and i know people are ganna hate this analagy) Dota style system,
where their is a constant supply of weak Tanks Helos and Infantry with the combat would help alot,
giving another layer of how this game works and how fun it can be with Combined arms,

And you believe they are able to deliver a satisfactory experience in PVE? That's even harder to do than PVP.

Waiting on an apology for unfairly being called a troll by an official moderator, yeah right in the meantime lemme watch hell freeze over

(not that I actually care, just the hypocrisy is laughable)
