Depends on the company and or seniority of the person in question... myself I get 3 weeks paid vacation a year, my boss can take off when ever he wants, as he owns the company....

Okay. Let's say Russ did take a vacation and hey, he's worked hard he's earned it no problem there. Shouldn't someone be left in his absence to communicate with us? Maybe, say, a managerial positon for such a task. A community manager, if you will. It can't be just anyone though. It has to be someone friendly, approachable, maybe even skip around the office but where would we ever find someone for this theoretical positon?

Well in all fairness, Russ uses twitter and NGNG to communicate with the players of this game, rather than the official forums anyways.... I think the CM is just there for looks maybe?

Essentially a complete withdrawal to within a protective "core" with all access vigorously blocked off to the outside world. And a pattern established by PGI in 2013 when "under siege" in the past over ideas the playerbase did not agree with.

Over the last couple months, I will freely admit, we have been less than "gentle" on Russ. The last two Town Halls were... not well received. The Rifleman launch, lukewarm. Archer release? Outright disaster. CW phase 3? A whimper. And telling the playerbase as a whole we have no clue what we are talking about when it comes to balancing the game...well... not a great approach considering how demonstrably poor balance has been since open beta.

Mind you, I get it. Running a company and being badgered on all sides? Frustrating beyond words. Having crap like the MiffedKittymkII Entitlement campaign rammed down your throat on multiple social platforms... well it had me ready to punch baby seals. Conflicting "experts" on how to fix everything. All while trying to get stuff together for what you perceive as the crowning moment for the game so far, the "World Championships".

So maybe I'm reading the tea leaves all wrong. I know I have barely even tweeted Russ over the last 2 months because I could sense how frustrated he was getting. Maybe someone with more "insight" can clarify. The total silence, lack of a TH, mech announcement, etc, are kind of hard to miss.

Me? I'd just like to know that there is still signs of life, and enthusiasm for MWO from within. Those inclined to trash Russ and PGI are going to do it regardless. But for those who might be inclined to give support...it becomes harder to do each day PGI stays silent. I honestly don't care if Russ was annoyed and stuck his foot in his mouth. People do that daily.

I do care about the seeming response to the criticism received, because I remember 2013, and early 2014. It was an ugly ugly time to be play MWO and to be on the Forums which became increasingly toxic the longer the Devs stayed silent.

Nature abhors a vacuum. If PGI doesn't fill it, then the Reddiots and such will. And the more yu let the inmates run the asylum...maybe the more they deserve to.

Couple things:

Please don't start this trend of everyone going "where my town hall?" I mean, last time, the forum erupted in "OMG TOWNHALL SUXX" for an entire week. It was suggested to Tina by myself and a few others that perhaps they shouldn't have so many TH, especially when they do not have much to talk about in them and don't prepare for them all that well.

So, let's just take the missing monthly town hall as a sign they are going to make the next one worth while and leave it at that.

As for Fortress mode? ...... Maybe....... but I think Russ might have just gotten tired of tweets, and really most of his other com with us has been TH. So maybe he is indeed on vacation, or just hasn't figured out how do an alternative com with us that won't spark a hate volcano.

Seriously though, this is so typical of the forums and rthis playerbase- I mean what, 5 weeks ago now? Everyone was blathering on about how terribad PGI was at communication because their communication was so terrible blah blah blah about the town halls and roadmaps etc. Now, PGI cuts way back on them because they basically oversaturated it with not enough actual new info to back it, and now people are crying "where PGI? Y U NO TALK TO US RUSS?"

Maybe he is trying to listen to us, cause you know, last time we wanted him to have more meaningful communication and stop flooding us with repeats, just like before that he was trying to pick up the frequency of communication because people wanted to hear him speak more....

If one stops to really look at PGI track record for the last oh, 1.5-2 years, we would notice they actually have tried to listen to us. Some times their ideas on how to do that haven't panned out, but hey they tried. But as others have said, there is no pleasing some people.

Scream bloody murder about wanting more candy, then scream about how the extra candy gave tooth aches, then scream about how the candy handouts got cut back.... know what I mean?

Before you make generalizations, you might really want to consider the source of the OP.

We're talking a former, premiere white knight. And I certainly am not screaming murder, making demands, etc.

But as someone who spent the last 4 years defending PGI, it sure would be nice if PGI would give us something to work with.

A title bestowed on me be Reddiots who think anyone who doesn't hate everything PGI all the time, is a White Knight. I've taken PGI to task plenty of times, and am willing to bet have helped effect more (of the limited) changes here by not being a constant raging dbag to Russ, than any of the Black Knights have ever accomplished.

But I always preferred Green, to Black or White, personally.

I think she is someone's girlfriend that they hired on. Or, maybe she collects a check without showing up to work. With how often you see Russ, Tina or Paula ... maybe they are all doing that?

PGI isnt Dead, they are working on MWO, just because Russ is Absent/on Vacation,
doesnt mean the Sky is Falling, and we should all Call out the End is near,

Very few, because most have a community manager that actually talks to the community and/or they have the lead developer pretty active in the community. I am ok with Russ not doing communication duty because frankly he is not very good at it.

Don't let some negativity get you, Derek. I, for one, appreciate that atleast one of the moderators are active and communicate with us. In fact, your departure from the forums, save for moderation, would only exacerbate the issues we're discussing.
