If I had to deal with all the crap monkeys throw around on the forums, the insults, the death threats, like PGI does, i wouldnt come to the forums either. You know why they dont post on the forums? Because of the community.

Gosh...by that analogy, the Police should just stay in the Police Station, instead of patrolling the streets. But they don't. Why? It's their job. And part of PGIs job is interfacing with it's community, toxic or otherwise.

Did you miss the part where I said if that happens, maybe some of them need a vacation anyways? I voluntarily took a two week one just from the forums and I feel a lot better for it.

Well, I just emailed support to cancel my Night Gyr and Viper Ultimate Packs and was refunded the $140 in under 8 minutes by GMPatience.

I wasn't asked why. I guess they don't care, so I feel kinda justified in my actions.

If the miracle happens and something is announced thats going to change things big time I'll re-order, I couldn't really care less about the early adopter bribes rewards.

No more money from this Whale.

This was my experience as well on exactly the same mechs, billing and accounting is excellent, I do feel sorry for those involved in it, because when the incompetence and arrogance, of P.G.I's leaders kills this game they will suffer as well, and they don't deserve it

I miss 13 ping.

(also true)

I miss 99 ping I'm in the U.K when I started playing this game it was a reasonably stable 99 would go up to around 110 some days. neither are bad and are pretty good for a player not in North America.

Over the last 30 months is has gone up best I can hope for is around 140, often up to around 170. while my upload and down load speeds are three times better, due to vastly improved fibre optic speeds and router. while this equipment only covers the mileage from Basildon to my house, I shouldn't have seen it go into reverse, even if I don't see an improvement.

Neither are game breaking, but it just demonstrate why I've lost any trust in P.G.I's ability to make this game better, each new thing, just seems to do the opposite, or have no visible effect.

The big new thing was/is the possibility of a new game engine, it made me think why.

What greatness can this thing do, to make this games play any better or any more balanced, I've love it to be the case, but I just feel its technical tinkering is a smoke screen to avoid adressing the real issues.

I'd love people in the know, and not just because someone prefers the visual look of the proposed new engine, because its used in a game they love, to explain why it will make it better, or why it's needed.

Russ said it might be possible, it might be in the works but he didn't bother to explain why it will makes things better, sitting here I don't see the point, and I don't see how it's going to be affordable.

It is not, in fact, their of their job to talk to you. It is their job to make a game. How they choose to make it is their prerogative. If the market doesnt like it, it will fail. But it hasnt failed yet, and the number of Kodiaks out there tell me they arent hurting ;)
And your false equivalency there? yeah, it IS in fact the cops job to go out and patrol. Nice try though.

Before you make generalizations, you might really want to consider the source of the OP.

We're talking a former, premiere white knight. And I certainly am not screaming murder, making demands, etc.

But as someone who spent the last 4 years defending PGI, it sure would be nice if PGI would give us something to work with.

I am not calling you out specifically to task here man.

I am just saying, yours is not the lone sentiment on the GD forums right now saying "where Russ at?"

I am just writing my observations that, within the last 2 months, the GD forums have swung from "yay townhalls all the time!!" to "BOO, townhalls are boring and pointless!!" to "how come no town halls?"

I am merely suggesting maybe Russ observed that also and threw his hands in the air, said **** it, and went on a 3 week vacation from all of the unpleasable nutters that are the forums.

I am sure we will be hearing from him a bit after the rescale patch releases and the mandatory hotfix or two that goes with them as he will undoubtedly sheepishly poke his head in the door and ask, in his own way, for some kind of feedback on the new rescales. Hopefully people don't throw rotten food at him on sight for once.

Again, while I did quote your OP, I was responding to more then just you.

Yep, same here in Australia. My ping has got much worse as well as frame rate over the last year. I mainly stopped playing 4 months ago and every time I check in for a game, ping and 50% drop in frame rate just kills it for me. Have played around in Settings to increase frame rate. The sacrifices just ain't worth it.

My wallet is closed as well...

I don't blame them when people come on their forums telling PGI they're stupid or yelling "What the hell you doing PGI."

For me, if someone was yelling at me to do my job right and calling me every name in the book that can be read of, yeah, I'm putting up the "shut up I don't care right now" wall.

when you have a job in Customer Service, that's what you have to deal with. I was an OPerator for AT&T, I got that sort of treatment all day long. It does terrible things to your self- esteem.
I would suggest they hire a counselor or psychiatrist for the staff.

Ganja. Does wonders for dealing with criticism. Actually makes a lot of it real funny. Kind of like Acid makes INXS music bearable and understandable.

These forums are pretty dang friendly compared to a lot of game forums out there, and I'm not buying what you are trying to sell even when we are in the height of a player rage event. You want to know why they really don't post here? It is because they lack the ability to do so without making things worse, and because they have a thin skin when it comes to criticism. Not everyone is equipped to deal with customers or people in general, but if you are going to run a business you need to make the effort or at least hire someone that can do it for you or you are going to fail. Neither of which has PGI ever done.

It doesn't help that each and every one of us has some form of picking at the flaws in the game. The negativity does need to stop.

It does nothing but keep the devs away, then the negative people get to say, "Look, no dev interaction, so now I will be negative about that also."

It is a self perpetuating cycle that ends up with the people who have well thought out and mature responses get buried under vitriol.

I wonder what would happen if Customer Service Representatives had some form of legal protection against that sort of harassment.

There have been death treats leveled at the devs, back in the 3PV/#saveMWO days. So yeah, some of the fan base is pretty extreme and completely irrational, although I think the death threat people are all banned.

EDIT: Guess not - here is a player who was putting together a charity tournament and was getting death threats:

Well I'm sure some have happened over purely silly things, and it isn't something that anyone should let bother them. Also, the thread you linked to he was complaining about threats when he went to reddit not here so that kind of proves my point that things here are not as bad as people like make them out to be.

Sure it was on reddit - the MWO forums on reddit. You think that it's completely different people that are not playing MWO?

A lot of the overly hostile ones over there are banned here so yeah. Perhaps PGI should ignore that garbage and focus on things here where that stuff isn't happening?

Bishop Steiner not flying the PGI flag.

Third sign of the apocalypse.

Honestly, I blame the excessive Twitter abuse towards Russ primarily on him and a select few others for continually badgering him like a witness on the stand. I don't blame Russ for not responding to people, but quite frankly that shouldn't be his job. He is the president and a designer, he should be at his desk all day trying to make things better and leaving the suggestion taking to his community manager. But he hasn't done that, and it has been suggested that he do so for the last few years. Russ shouldn't give a flying fadoo what people like Bishop Steiner and Hardcoregamer have to say, because their opinions don't matter. They spend more time complaining about how OP certain things are rather than stepping up their game and actually learning to play the game well. I mean really, it isn't hard to spend less time crying on the forums when they could be dropping in a lobby and scrimming with some good players and learning how to play. All the complaining does is make them look like big babies in front of the rest of the community. I am not sure which is a worse perception to have, being seen as a whining baby or a jerk. I'd rather be seen as a jerk, cause at least that doesn't make me a wimp.

lol.

Yup, cuz I badger him all the time.

Oh btw, fixing the Warhammer geometry? Courtesy of Twitter "badgering". Among about a dozen other things. (Including the K2 which eventually snowballed into total rescale)

But on the bright side? Being perceived as a jerk? Bang up job, son.
