Do we know this for a fact?

I'm just guessing because if there was an announcement for this month it PROBABLY would have been today.

Anyone want to start a betting pool when and if Russ will return?

If we get Vegas involved we can possibly get betting lines on what Russ is doing while he is nto communicating with the community.

I'm feeling pretty bleh on MWO lately too. Friends are off playing something else, no events going on, and no real news.

I get that the World Championships are taking a ton of effort for a small company like PGI, but on the other hand, how many of the players are actually participating compared to the playerbase as a whole?

I may be in the minority, but I really could care less about the Championship.

Ever work a service job? Heh, practically the very first thing you learn out of training is that there is not enough contempt in the world for the folks you have to deal with every day.

Piranha needs a (much, much) better system for dealing with its customers/playerbase...but no, I do not and never will blame anyone at Piranha for hating the vast majority of the hate-spewing rage volcanoes that populate this sinkhole.

Hi, my name is Joe and I hate your guts. I am a doorstop salesman, would you take a second to peruse my wares...you dirty pleb?

This game isn't a retail release where you've already gotten the money and can tell your users to **** off for being trash. This is a f2p game that isn't hugely popular. Hows the business model look when you don't have many users and you aren't attracting much attention because of stagnant gameplay?

8v8 team deathmatch turned into 12v12 team deathmatch, eventually adding another mode of play that is......12v12 team deathmatch with respawns. Oh here's a 4v4 team deathmatch mode....after how many years?

The snail's pace at which they are going isn't going to cut it for a f2p game. There are less streamers now than a year ago, the forums and 3rd part sites have less traffic, the number of steam users is going down...... I get that PGI has to pay the bills, but where the heck is the content? The writing is on the wall.

It doesn't matter that you think the game is fine because apparently you are the vast minority. If the rest of the community thinks something is wrong, it is correct for them to hit the forums/reddit/twitter and complain about it. This game isn't going to survive on a dozen or so PGI white knights buying mech packs.

edit

pffft, there's more people streaming Diablo 2 than MWO on twitch right now.

Ever worked customer support for a company that actually is really bad? Like voted the most hated ISP bad?

Maybe it's not the people paying to keep the lights on fault for slow development and being generally unhappy
And yada yada
We all know what's lacking in MWO

Everyone reasonable knows you can't please everybody
And you don't need to to be successfull as a company
However I can only see like 2 people standing up for PGI these days on the forum's
And ingame or on TS there's like no one at least modestly happy with MWO

Maybe, just maybe players that don't like where things are headed are not a minority

Personally my believe in this company was finally shattered when they had ghost lazers

Documentation on the forums showed optimal range would not be affected, but it was
Everyone was bugging Russ on twitter about, why optimal range was affected
Russ said it's not
bit later Paul posted it's supposed to be that way

Made no sense
Documentation from PGI said otherwise
Head of company said otherwise
But Paul had one of his visions for balance I guess

And it was scraped
Since it was terrible the way it was

There's not much going on to make paying people happy

But for free, I guess it's alright enough
Wonder if that's good enough to keep the lights on though

Yeah sure
Like anyone believes that PGI could make a compelling and fun singleplayer/co-op experience

What you get is a 4 player vs simple AI skirmish drop mode
I really hope I'd be wrong
But man the road has been bumpy and not very promising

Actually, I'm a manager at a service-related contractor job. 10+ years now, worked my way up from the ground level.

While you'll always get customers who are just total losses in the courtesy department, that number is dwarfed by how many angry ones you breed by repeatedly screwing up, breaking your promises, and changing your policies while all the while making it obvious to your customers just how little you really care about your job.

Generally, we fire the kind of people who breed bad customers, but you can't fire the guys at the top.

Welcome to PGI.

I also see white Knights (the handful that are still around and haven't gone grey or dark night) listing rescaled as some awesome thing to be looking forward to

While I remember so many people telling PGI that they're scale is off on a lot of mechs when they came out

The discussion about the shadow hawk
How a medium mech can be so tall like a 100t mech

But at the time it was deemed fine as is by PGI
Since being lighter does not equal being smaller, or something was the logic employed

If they'd listened maybe they wouldn't have needed to spent so many resources on doing things the right way

My Dad of an age of 81 has all stopped playing MWO since a long time bcs he cant keep up with anything anymore.
But he would love PvE Coop-Mission and i would love to play them with him from time to time.

Imo there is a market for Mechwarrior-PvE done right!

Customer support at another ISP, though Germany
Used to

You can't make everyone happy, but some company's are really just bad and that's it
Though it usually comes from the top

On that note
My wife's unhappy with her iPhone 6 plus
Wanted a new cell
Canceled her contract
Company offered to give her a lg g5, no costs
Reduced monthly bill by 10€, no charges or fees
Just lengthened the contract, which is fine
4gb of LTE volume is not bad

In short
A company can make you happy
It's up to them really

Well they could do it the right way, the wrong way or the PGI way. The PGI way being still wrong but minimally viable.

My random guess is he is in rehab for drinking too much(probably smoking too much as well). Poor guys looks half dead every time we see him and it only seems to be getting worse. For a time I thought he just did a lot of Zombie role play, but now I think he might actually have been bitten by one because it would explain a lot.

Yeah at the Steam launch party he wasn't looking too good. Stress is getting to him clearly.

Yeah, PGI is going with all this "ghost" **** simply because a majority of players are so opposed to making simple game mechanic changes which are present in every shooting and game ever. Even RTS games have CoF/RNG and a degree of randomness. But the players in this game are so deadset against doing anything to shift the game away from aperfectly pin point, right where I aim it deal, that were stuck with Ghost heat to try to deal with alphas, ghost damage, ghost armor, ghost this, ghost that....thisgame is more a paranormal shooting game then a Battletech game.

They dont wanna simply lower the heat scale down to like 40, limiting our ability to even output huge alphas. They dont want even a mild CoF to deviate our shots, they dont want anything that might make the game a little less point, click, dead enemy.

So, in the end, we get a huge cluster **** where people dont find it fun to get in big stompy robots, walk around a corner and get blasted by a Stormcrow packing 8 ERML, melting half their Atlas before they can even register whats going on. Then as they try to back up, twisting around like a ballerina, hoping their mech is still alive by the time it reaches cover, they get wacked by the Stormcrow again, since heat levels are so high what the hell is 8 ERML? 48% of the heat? Then 3s to cool off, so they fire again.....

People probably dont find this game fun, unless they play the meta.

There's no new "here's the latest pokemech to collect, But now!" to announce........... Yet!?

So why would Russ have anything to say at all or any reason to communicate with the community!?

He already made clear he doesn't want our input on the game....... And that he always wanted MWO to be an e-sport not a battletech game!

He just needs our money and hype to help sell the Tourney and MWO as an e-sport. Pretty simple!

Still seems to be ineffective from a business point of few

You make it you're way, because you know better
Then a year later you notice
Now you have to spent like a year only resizing stuff

Also I notice a lack of moderation in these "where is anyone" threads

Would've thought a freelance moderator would've felt like merging some

Everything's going dark ;-)

Meta and e-sport gonna love
Just make it a monthly cost to use it, there done
Income secured on a minimal viable product basis
Can make some more bland maps that have pebbles you can't step over now
