Amen to that! I am so looking forward to bringing back my "Splat-a-cat" back to the battlefield. Not to mention the ButterBee and making it the fourth Catapult in my inventory. I am still eagerly awaiting an MC conversion sale, but this will definitely hold me over, and the three mastered cats will only add to that day when MC conversion is on the sale table again.

Thank you, PhantomDust and the entire Team who worked to make this a reality! <o

Out of curiosity what is finally addressing the mech scale issue and improving assault mode if you do not consider it "something positive"? I can understand having a higher threshold for spending than that but what is your definition of that threshold?

Some adjustments to scaling does not warrant enough of "something positive" after the fiasco of Phase 3 in my mind to reopen my wallet. Then lets add in all the hit reg issues, quirk madness, pinpoint damage, map issues etc...

Of course how does PGI choose to introduce rescaling? What to buy a mech pack? Hero Mech?

Nice. I like the re-scale comparison. Things are looking good for those who wait. I was expecting a more retro paint job for the BB.

While still not spending money on the game for reasons previously mentioned numerous times, I certainly have to applaud the team on getting the Catapult to what seems like a far more reasonable scale. Now to see all of the other chassis and how they line up.

Although, honestly, I'm surprised. I thought there'd be more screams of Pay-to-Win and whatnot. It does, after all, combine the hardpoint strengths of the C1 and C4 with no notable drawbacks. It still carries 4 jump jets; and given the stock engine size I'd say it'll probably have the same engine cap. I'm just curious what's supposed to be bringing this in line? The lack of weapon quirks? We were told all mechs were receiving a quirk pass with the rescale, so we can't use that to judge just yet.

I'm fascinated to see what the rescale and requirking (again) of mechs will do to game balance. While the Butterbee is a nice addition, I hope we get to see plenty of more iteration on mech balance and equipment (everything equippable to a mech, from Flamers to Jump Jets to PPC's and Command Consoles). Hopefully PGI is viewing the mech rescale as another major and necessary step towards making everything in the game fully functional and viable.

We are glad to see it.
When the catapult first got its customization update many of us were wondering why not stuff them into the arms at least to consume the space within before tacking on the external holes? This is something we asked for fron early on so to see it makes us very happy.

On a side note: Also wondered why not butter bee the first time, so also ecstatic here.
Figured if doing an original hero why not mix a k2 and c4 arm.

Which of course has me eager to see the k2 and a1 arms.

Keep up the good worj.
(And give us Fleas; there's nothing wrong with 20 ton Mechs provided their hotboxes aren't perfectly straightforward (so its not like boom lots of lasers dead. Example Atlas or Victor or hbk iic with angled curvy boxes opposed to awesome, cataphract, Jagermech. In other words boxes interlaced and woven rather than "this is on the left so left torso")

Speaking of quirks, they were originally to encourage us to use weapons where hardpoints were lacking. Example if this arm has 4 energy and this one has one, the one would be quirked and the four not quirked.

The mentality of quirks in practice however has been oh, one missile and 8 energy? Supah energies!
2 energy and 8 missile? Supah missiles!

....is it any wonder that things got out of hand?
Quirk the fewer not the more.

Some Mechs with few to one of weapon type never get quirks and thus never use that single or dual hardpoint.

Quirk the few not the many.
For specific weapon quirks, assign to SPECIFIC limbs even on battlemechs so it's not like "er large laser duration 50%!!! Carry all the er large lasers!"
Nope, just on this Stalker center torso with one hardpoint.

this is bonkers. ignoring the missile box, the CT is SHORTER than a current CICADA. How small are all the mechs going to get???

though bearing in mind PGI is going for a standard volume to weight ratio, the Catapult will probably be one of the shortest Heavies.

maybe it's time to dust off the old Jester again

Talk about shrinkage. That is a pretty big difference in size. Making it a smaller target might make it a more effective mech.

Super stoked to see all the re-scaled mechs, I know the Cat and the Nova were some of the ones to change the most, but there's plenty of other chassis that could use a little nudge in the right direction. Catapult being smaller than a Stalker is long overdue but if it finally has good visuals when loading multiple missiles to the arms, people will have so many reasons to be happy :D

Yaeh and Quirks getting more and more hilarious.

I have an Idea for a new armor Quirk

Armor penatration -100%
or
Laser reflective Armor

Laser refelection +100% (hits enemy with 150% of weapon damage)

Quirks is like Cancer for this game!!

Holy ****, that thing got ALOT smaller. If thats the degree of the rescale, then the rescale might be ok. BUt if suddenly that 65t heavy is somehow smaller then a 45 tonner, then well...PGI, get a clue.

That new CAT looks sweet, and hopefully the smaller profile will eliminate their sitting duck status.

Huh.....for some reason that re-scale made me think of the olden days when use to cockpit Catapults on a regular basis......
Albeit then, it was cause of the head hit box.......now I think its because the mechs gotten shorter. That plus its nicely tilted forward CT puts the head in a "common area" to shoot when ya trying to core this thing from the front and makes it so more mechs will be shooting down on it, improving the chances of hitting it?????

Or Maybe it's just me seeing things?

Anyhow....Looks good, looks promising. Wish they'd have posted it next to another mech that's not getting scaled like the crab or something. Either way, maybe I'll least get to have some fun playing the game again with this patches changes......been to difficult to come up with reasons to continue the same old "buy a mech, grind a mech, alpha poke deathball a mech" last few month's...........

Please note that not all mechs will have the same size reductions if any. The rescale is based on a volumetric measurement of the overall 3D model.

The earlier comparison done by a member of the community was more 2 dimensional and is unlikely to be close to PGI's rescale.

We should also anticipate there will be a re-quirkening of mechs after the general resale is done.

The rescale and quirk changes are what so many of us are dying to see. If this new Hero is any indication it should be interesting. Maybe my Victors will get some structure love (crosses fingers). The CPLT hero quirks are an interesting comparisons to the current CPLT models. Close but slightly adjusted. It will be interesting to see if Clan mechs see more quirk love as well.
