They should scale all the mechs to the semi's (18 wheelers) already in game. A semi is 40 tons, put a cicada next to it, too large right?

Or they should scale up the environmental stuff, but in general terms I agree; the sense of scale is way off, cars and buildings look ridiculously tiny now.. Also I want to be able to shoot chunks off of buildings, and make those toy-cars fly around by SRM'ing the crap out of a parking lot!

@The re-scale: as long as agility is also balanced it's fine. At least now there are reasons to take something <35 tons.
That being said, I notice a LOT less lights are being played overall..

I somehow also get this creeping feeling that my Oxide feels way more sluggish now, despite my brain telling my fingers that "only hill climbing is affected by movement type", so it can't be that.. or can it??
Anyone else noticed this?

Also - just to add salt into the wound - PGI decided in their inestimable wisdom NOT to rescale the most OP mech in the game - The Arctic Cheetah!

Honestly, for an experiment I stood toe-to-toe with a cheetah in a T-bolt and the ACH pilot didn't even bother dodging - I still got cored!

The hitboxes on those things are seriously screwed. When you couple that with the fact that they are now tiny compared to Wolfhounds and Panthers makes those makes completely obsolete.

Seems to explain why no one is using IS lights in FW but that brings it's own problems in Gather Intel.

You can't get away from the ACH's or Streakcrows unless you play a light and then you are cannon fodder.

Very frustrating.

After a few weeks and a few events, I've gotta say I think all the panic and salt about the resize was overreaction. With the sole exception of my completely ridiculous Oxide, I just haven't seen a falloff in my K:D ratio or my average damage in my mediums and lights. I'm not an amazing pilot and I'm not garbage, and I've been holding pretty steady with my FS9 and Wolfhound, not to mention the mediums.

Once you hit tier 1 or even tier 2, you will never want to pilot them again. They feel like your piloting mediums and get cored so fast that there just isn't a reason to put yourself through that punishment.

I personally haven't bothered to log in since the spider rescale because it's a walking coffin now. Due to various rescale blunders, nerfs, and other general BS over 2 dozen regular clan members have all but quit MWO and gone to The Division/Robocraft until they sort out this mess. /feedback

Holy cow, I've just got back home from a 3 month work assignment and got home (patched MWO) , grabbed some weaponised caffeine from the store and was getting ready to have a good old time in my lights .....

WTF!!??

Lights are now under armoured heavies and mediums!!??

Call a doctor! Russ and Paul have obviously contracted a serious brain disease and need help!

If you can believe it, there are players that are justifying what they did to those lights.. probably heavy and assault pilots every one of them.

As a(n almost) full time assault pilot...

PGI went way too overboard. (only the Oxide was OP pre rescale)

As I recall, 99% of pilots were absolutely shocked seeing the new wolfhounds, jenners and panthers (and FS9). It was unbelieavable, combined with the locust resizing.

PGI's solution to the outcry should have been *slightly* toning down the locust's quirks and *adjusting* slightly the (old scale) 35 tonners. They decide to nerf the locust instead.

Also, I can understand the hate against heavy pilots, but why assaults? They're just as much a skill intensive class as lights unless you're in a KDK-3/BLR-2C.

You cannot afford to stop moving in an assault, doubly (or triply so in a dire) so for anything under 65 kph, which is most of them. Your positioning needs to be impeccable, or your screen just disappears in a blinding flash of LRMs, dakka and pews and your heavy friends stopping your reversing so that they can get in one more good poke.

"T5 assault noobs, wtf were you doing the entire match. I am in just my shiny FotM 75 tonner and did better than you. Stupid matchmaker"

If I had a penny for every time a team left the assaults to fend for themselves so that they could chase that "lone" LRM onion in a full on NASCAR...Posted Image

Admit your sins pgi and reverse what you did to our lights. It's your only salvation.

Kudos for anyone being able to properly piloting an Assault and whenever I can I try to cover them with my ECM Mechs. The only one I can a little bit cope are the 70 and 80 kph Awesomes but with XLs it's quite suicidal. Feels good I was not mistaken that the Wolfhounds and Panthers and others were received as a little (as in "a lot") bigger. HPG Manifold turned a death trap playing the WLF as I did before the Patch. Yes, we can adjust. But can't I not simply don't want to have to? I feel stupid looking a Catapult way over the shoulder or not-so-much-bulkier-heavies right into the eyes.

Just finished an Assault on Crimson with you. I was the poor sod Griffin that got killed capping with you...

Anyway, I am with you on this one. They don't have to be to the exact size they were before patch. Some lights were chosen for a reason. But even halfway there would be way better than a giant *** 35t Wolfhound being blown to bits because there is way less to hide behind now and a dakka facial from a Heavy or an Assault just hurts too damn much to survive it.

Issues really isn't just only with lights, all mechs are too large. You have to scale with the stuff in the game, like cars, trucks, light poles, and buildings. Pretty much the only mech that is the right size right now after the resize is the locust, from there on things get worse and worse until you get to 100 ton mechs. The Atlas is 300% the volume it should be to scale correctly with the environment (that's only 30% shorter).

When mwo first came out it was supposed to be that lights were not just cheap mechs to start off with before you could get to the heavier proper mechs but that's just what it is now.

The jenner is now just an extremely weak medium size mech with very low firepower.

I use a Jenner F with 6 SPLs for 24 damage. Let's say I roll up on an Assault who is busy LRMing or something: One surprise hit with 24 damage, another hit because the Assault can't turn, maybe another hit facing me head on, then a hit in the side or back. So I've done 96 damage and this Assault maybe hit me with a glancing blow. Cycle most of that same round happening again, minus the surprise it, and we're got 168 damage on one mech.

I think you mean to say it has the firing power for its weight class, but lacks the armor of the heavier mechs.

How come a veteran obviously Kick-a$$ Pilot like you is Tier5? I am not trying to make a point here, I am really wondering.

You know it's bad when "T1" "quantum superposition" firestarters are now ranked below two of the Cicadas on Mr. G's tier list. lol Posted Image

Good thing I'm ahead of the curve and got STD engines in one of them already. Posted Image (Nah, it's just an experiment)

According to Russ, wins are what matters. You can be Superman and lose and not go up in Pilot Skill.

As something a unit mate always said,

eventually your K/D and W/L will get close to the same number if all the stats are from solo pugging.

How well you pilot is directly related to your W/L, as the size of the same space becomes larger and larger.

My overall K/D, as an example is 0.99. My W/L is also 0.99. Since I almost always pug, these are accurate.

Recent stats are something like 1.4 K/D and 1.5 W/L

Let's not forget, YOU are the common denominator in ALL your matches.
