No tinfoil hat, I just think the history of these things speak for themselves. TH is for fielding soft ball "questions" from the NGNG guys and then a set up for Russ to announce a new mech. Since the mech for this 'cycle' (if you will) has already been announced, there is no reason for Russ to be doing a TH unless he has something else to sell us.
Consider P3, go look at the release notes. Regardless of what you think of P3 they did a really good job of explaining all those new features. Look at the community response in that same announcement thread. Certainly not ALL positive, but much of it was constructive. Now consider the townhalls that surrounded P3's release. Not only were the THs fairly disastrous from a community feedback perspective, there was very little substantive discussion in either of them.
So, given that history, I wonder what this townhall will be about because I don't expect "Russ to explain the reasons behind the choices they've made". When has he EVER done that?

It would be in PGI's best interest that NGNG not do so when ghost heat 2.0 comes up, because it at least would give them a glimpse into the potential rage that they will see in the PTS involving ghost heat 2.0.

That would definitely be a fun mech. Tiny front profile, 100+ kph with speed tweak, Endo+FF and lots of hardpoints (energy, missile and ballistics)
I would never pay money for it, but it would be a fun addition.

He did that during the first town halls, the ones that were actually well received, when he explained why PGI made a lot of seemingly dumb choices that were actually pressured by IGP, like the infamous gold mechs.
Listen, I'm one of the loudest voices when it comes to arguing that PGI has made a catastrophical error in limiting their interactions with the fans. We have a community manager that doesn't talk much to the community (and none of them ever have), we have vlogs that are highly irregular and seem poorly planned (questions are really weird, a lot of popular suggestions for cockpit items were ignored, etc), we have Town halls where players can't interact with Russ and Ask the devs was gradually limited and finally eliminated. We're left with Twitter.
To me, it's weird to even call it a Town Hall. From Wikipedia: Typically open to everybody in a town community and held at the local municipal building, attendees generally present ideas, voice their opinions, ask questions of the public figures, elected officials, or political candidates at the town hall.
Do you see any attendees who get to present ideas, voice their opinions and ask questions? Nope. It's not really a Town Hall meeting, it's more like a public interview, really. It's not even a debate. NGNG asks cherry-picked questions from their own members (who are a fraction of a fraction of the MWO community), filtered by moderator and Russ answers their questions and then says the things he's there to say.
So I'm not donning any kind of white armour here. But I do think it has some merit that Russ is going to explain all the stuff that is coming, even when you take into account all the criticism above.

I certainly hope you're right. I want you to be right. I want Russ to "explain stuff". I just am not very hopeful that he actually will.
Now, allow me to switch gears here and indeed put on the tinfoil hat...
Anyone else find it interesting that the announcement refers to "the new heat system" whereas Russ had previously referred to the "energy draw system"?

Topics include the Summer updates! Command Wheel,
BattleMech Rescale, changes to the Assault game mode,
the new Heat System, and much more!
Unfortunately, they forgot to mention how we're supposed to contribute with questions for Russ. Easy mistake to make.
EDIT: I will post cliff-notes in this thread, so... bookmark it, share it on facebook and add me on instagram.
Appreciate that, Alistair. They always hold these damn things while I'm at work; I can't watch them real-time, but it tends to be days before a summary goes up, if it even does. Will be nice to know I've got some small chance of having a clue what everyone else is talking about before July.

1. PVE, what are we going to get, co-op? PvE support in CW? PvE campaign ect. Rough ball park of when?
2. We know that there is few mechs left, and very few Clan mechs left. How many mechs are left before we hit the scum at the bottom and jump to the new barrels?

But really, this is why I don't care if they don't gather questions. They wouldn't answer any I really cared about anyways, aside what they're already planning to talk about.

Which kinda ruins the point in calling it a Town Hall this whole time since they just give soft balls or ask question they aren't able to fully explain when necessary (zero sum version of PSR question was a great example of that), but whatever.

You know, guys not named Wintersdark or Alistair or Quicksilver and stuff...maybe Piranha would be more inclined to answer your questions if all your questions weren't "When are you going to stop f*cking up and do all this sh!t I've written down in my sig-linked forum post that is literally the only way to save MWO?"
Yeah, Piranha's communication recently has been bad. They need a community management team that actually, y'know, manages the community, and they need to pick a direction to start taking MWO and stick to it. But no, I don't actually expect them to answer the biased, nakedly hostile stuff you guys keep throwing at them, and in fact don't even want them to.
Maybe act like reasonable human beings instead of diarrhea-flinging rabid monkeys and you might get further. Reasonable human beings can make points and express their dissatisfaction in ways that don't involve fiery butt emissions, you know.

I won't bother attending but will read the summary by a forum member no doubt.
