As a Clan player I'm used to mechs coming out with no quirks then using mechs based off hardpoint location, possible builds, etc. Last time an IS mech got released with quirks that weren't excessive the forums were in outrage and quirks were added in before release because of it.

I've been suggesting people get the Hellbringer for awhile now, ECM, many good builds, extremely versatile omnipod setup so it can swap to better weapons if some get horribly nerfed, good speed, good free tonnage, high hardpoints, decent hitboxes. The mech sits on either T1 or T2 depending on who you ask, so it isn't the spotlight when people call for nerfs. I've been using them since phase 2 of CW and still going, since they aren't 75 tonners they fit into drop decks pretty well even when tonnage changes up.

For the IS guys, the only thing the Black Knight had going for it were good hitboxes, speed, and decent loadouts, but it had almost no versatility due to only energy weapons, low hardpoints, no ECM, a handful of builds, and was usually considered good just because of its quirks. Good news though, I played it before it got its big quirk pass and before its hitbox change and it was still viable, should be fine still, just not so powerful that it cuts through clan CTs before clanners can get through its side torso without twisting.

If you want a versatile IS heavy look at the Thunderbolts, those things are tried and true, been around for awhile, have high mounted hardpoints, and a variety of builds. Jagermech has also been around quite awhile with its high hardpoints and variety of ballistic focused loadouts doing well for quite awhile just as long as you twist a little so your side torso isn't focused. Warhammer is a new addition that comes with quite a few more loadout choices than a Black Knight, including one variant that mirrors them, but it comes with higher mounted hardpoints.

I waited eagerly to see which pilots / units were to explode in rage over the (overdue) nerf of the main IS vomits

I can't feel any pity for anyone who chased the meta and bought the flavor of the month.

I buy mechs based on lore alone. "Is it something that my faction would have".

The meta of each mech may ebb and flow, but the lore for this era the game is set in has long been set in stone.

Other than the mess with the 35 tonners, I don't think I am going to be too badly harmed in this coming patch.

Oxide needed to be toned down, no argument here. My JR7-D though was already very fragile, and now it is only easier to hit. My Panthers may benefit, with being a bit taller overall getting their gun arm to clear hills that much more easily.

Focus on mechs that are good because of geometry and hardpoint locations, PGI will never screw those. BKs are terrible out of the box because they have crotch mounted weapons and so need quirks to be viable at all, making them super vulnerable to PGIs nerfgun of wrath.

SHD-2K for example, will always be a good mech, because it has goo geo, good hitboxes and good weapon placement.

Why do you think I was excited for the Shadow Cat and Huntsman? :D (Though I surprised myself at my apathy towards the Jenner IIC....) Now I just need a Nova Cat and Super Nova. :P

that literally counts for all the current crybabies.
in the end, you can cry all you want. those that adapt and just play mechs they want to, learned how to use them well and giving sh*ts about what is FOTM overquirked will always laugh at you.

even in a loss. because they know you gonna cry again. because all you can do is go meta or be bad.

Did I cry about anything ? Diis I complain = I just to0ld a Clanner that claimed we don't defend to shut up. And since we're at the point shall we have a look at some numbers ?

My unit has 44 Planetary DEFESE wins, we're do you think they came drome? I'm not taking this **** from some f*****g Clammer anymore.

Oh and by the way, I never see THEM defending THEIR planets, only good enough to farm Puggies? Too scared of facing a premade?

I would go on but the mods would just delete the post.

all the rage. so much rage. yesyes, let the hate flow through you. its good and healthy.
but seriously, a stfu is whine enough because not long ago, 12DG were asking us to help secure steiner territory.
we done as told, 12DG barely showed up.

i know 12DG is showing up again more often now which is good but there was some sort of truth in it.
i just had to smile.

i also have a funny story to tell about my time in 12DG but i wont now :>

You know, I can live with getting stomped by the top Clan teams. It's ok, most of them are nice guys and most of the times its even quite fun. But I just came out of a match with a mixed IS team against a mixed Clan team witha small Falcon premade.

And yes we lost as was to be exspected we had a lot of new players in the team, no biggie, But what pissed me of was the mocking and shittalking drom the 4 Falcons the whole match. Wasn't the only time happens quite a lot lately.

I'm done playing nice, not playing against a faction that seems to attract the biggest douchebags in the game.

I seriously don't understand how you people do this yourselves. Not just this game, but every multiplayer game I have played. People act like they have no choice except to play FOTM and then cry out in shock when it gets inevitably nerfed. Then they immediately cling onto the next FOTM.

I see more variation in IS decks than Clan decks. Clan is more like FOTY :D

Clan is MDD/TBR/EBJ/HBR for the most part. Some variation with a ACH or something depending on the deck (I use a kit fox lol).

People certainly don't have to play FOTM as IS. I feel it varies a lot more.
I mean you see AS7 / KGC / BLR / BNC / MAL / STK / ZEU and then that's if you drop in an assault. It's not uncommon to almost have one of all of those on a first drop as it's pretty dynamic. Of course they are all good mechs IMO and Clan really didn't have a super decent assault till the KDK, so fair enough.

Our four main heavies, play mostly the same, or at least can depending on how the omnipods are setup, even if the mechs aren't varied, their loadouts can very much be. Also now that the Kodiak is in we are finally seeing more assaults on the teams, went from all heavies to usually 3 Kodiaks per wave now.

I routinely hot swap mechs inthe drop deck depending on map and situation. BLK-6, WHM-BW, WHM-6R, JM6-DD, BLR-1G, TDR-5SS, JR7-O, JR7-D, LCT-PB, SHD-2K, Whichever the pheonix variant SHD is, ARC-5W, BJ-3, GRH-5J and a plethora of FS9, oh, and PNT-10K, RVN-3L (narc build)

All are moduled up and ready to swap in and out.

Clan side it is much easier to get the functionality just by swapping omnipods, which is a nice benefit really.

Oh yeah for sure. Omnipod is the reason for not having a lot of chassis variants :)
I have 4 TBRs in my mechlab, all with varying loadouts depending on the map I can change out.
