PGI hear me out please, plis pgi we need more new maps rather than remastering old ones. We still need more hot maps, we still need more urban maps. We apreciate your effort in realeasing new content/patching but i think we are done with remastering. Only maps that needed the retouch were old forest colony and river city. Also plis dont replace all the maps starts with dropships i kinda like it being varied. After frozen city i expect no more remasters okay? plis pgi u gota listen to meh.

sincerely, a concerned playar.

what about u guys do you want new maps too?

Considering every new map is worse than the original so far ... take your guess.
And they claim they can't add "reworked" versions as new maps because reasons. Dumb excuse is dumb.

I hear you and partially agree... That said, I'm also in the camp of players that like the remasters.

I'm also in the camp of players that would like the "original maps" returned to the rotation if anything to provide a wider variety of maps (rename them or something).

Different sized maps play differently. Variety is the spice of life!

I tend to agree, although for a conclusive opinion wouls have to know how much dev. time these "beautification" passes take vs. making a whole new map. For example the Polar Highlands textures looking much better compared to Alpine Peaks textures. I wouldn't mind a level designer taking the time to apply those textures to Alpine.

Otherwise I'd rather see them work on new maps. The only exception is Mordor, which sorely needs the central section reworked.

ye perhaps therma could use some fixes but yeah new maps would be better indeed. what kind of new maps though? urban, hot, jungle or tundra?

Maybe because nowadays fighting ALWAYS revolves around the big house in the middle and because 90% of the map surface isn't being used? Old River was a small brawl oriented map. New one became your generic mid-range vomit trash. Like the rest of new maps really.

I would like to see new maps instead of remastered ones. I would also like to be able to play on the original Forest Colony, River City, and Frozen City in 4v4 or 8v8.

As I´m currently playing Dune2000 I found on a pretty cool site along the C&C Classics, you get a like for the Dune comment Posted Image

As to the remastering, I think we are done with that. Russ stated they will just change small things on the maps and add polish and rework old object and terrain hitboxes. Like Forrest getting a big pass through the mountain to get rid of the one place to do battle. Same will be done to Terra, Viridian and Crimson.

Sure they could, its just a series of copy pasting and renaming files. I did it in Men of War to a map I made....made a winter version and a normal version. Even have the exact same map as a PVE mission, which is where I originally had it before tweaking it and making it into 2 different PVP maps.

Why do we need new maps at all? Seriously if you play the same game I do then you know a typical rotation is...

Frozen city-skirmish
Canyon Network-skirmish
HPG manifold-skirmish
canyon-skirmish
HPG- skimish
frozen-skirmish
canyon-skirmish

The only time we see variance is when those maps are not an option to choose and skirmish mode is also not a choice.

One could conclude that this game only needs skirmish on a tiny cool map and most players will be pleased.

I would like both.

And, IMO, seeing as according to Russ pretty much all Dept. were working on mech rescale for the last few months- i am inclined to believe I will get my cake and eat it too coming down the road here.

It is normal for the player base to clamor for more more more..... but c'mon man, mech rescales and the stuff they have worked on this year so far were pretty decent size undertakings for PGI. Regardless of if you think they turned out right or not, a lot of work went into the efforts.

IMO, some constructive feedback on what it is you like and dislike about the map reworks would go farther then saying " I want this, not this!!" because for every person saying that there is some one saying the opposite.

Actually, old River was a brawl map for those who were bad, generally in coordinated play it was a long range map because closing the distance was harder to do than it is now. If anything the new River City is more short range oriented provided you avoid the north/south edge open areas.

River City was a decent remake, so was Caustic, Forest however was really bad.

Ah, so thats why most competitive teams in RHoD and MRBC took SRM mechs on old RiverCity. k then.
The longest patch of open space on old River was 600m. Now we have 1.5km long landing stripe and 3km long open water on the opposite side, but yeah, sure, as you said now its much more short range oriented.

Just take all current maps, and set the ground level to be 70% flatter... As it is right now, I'm inclined to think the developpers find normal to see 300 meters tall cliffs every 80-100 meters everywhere (even in cities)

what I would like to see:

Huge flat city maps... like 25x25km flat city filled with destructible buildings/houses would be great

Huge flat forested areas where destructible treecover would hide most small, medium mechs, with only the taller ones showingon top of the trees.

(and don't tell me it would take 3 months and a lot of skill to fill out an almost flat surface with random destructible trees...)

then add the impossible... infantry/tanks that follows the mechs line (like 200-400 meters behind) to protect the advance...

And only has a size reference...an M1A2 abrams, weight near 65 tons... so even a 100 tons mech shouldn't be that much bigger than a tank with arms placed vertically on two legs......a locust being around the size of a car...

They also took poptarts and Whales, you could play the long range strat on old River City.

Old River City, the guys who spawned on the left side of the map got ***** more often then not from what I saw of it.

When did they do that? During the Whale/Clan meta, it definitely was not short ranged, and I question whether anyone ran short range during the poptart meta on River City either.

You can go and watch. MRBC saves all the old recordings. Season 2 and 3 is what you are looking at. RHoD season 3 and 4 but I don't think there is a lot of footage of that.

Season 2-4 would be what I'm looking for, season 5 it had changed over, but during MLMW it was still the old river city, speaking of which that would be another one to look at. Either way, range did in fact work on it, old River City was not only brawling, just like this one is not only range.
