OK, this might be a little early but...
I just had my first five games done and I find it extremely difficult to use the new minimap as a navigation help. In fact for me it was seriously confusing that:

- the new minimap does not rotate relative to your mech bearing
- there is no field of view indicator as there used to be.

I found myself turning in all directions but not the one I wanted as I could not see at once what relative positions targets have to my mech.

It might take some time to get used to it but at the moment I am feeling most uncomfortable with it (and colse to ask to get the old design back with the next hotfix...).

I just noticed how important the minimap was for me as a source of information. I feel that at least 80 % of the information I could get from the old map is not given by the new.

I'll now be off for a few more matches and see if it gets better.

Yep, Now I am quite sure, that I want to have the rotating map and my field of view indicator back!!!

As announced earlier, map rotation and field of view cone will be back in a not yet scheduled hotfix!

Actualy, it is comepletely useless now. Too tiny to see properly and discern where the enemies are, or their direction of movement. It server only th emasic purpose, to see , rougly, in which part of the map you are, and by that mean to see wheter you are in NW or NE corner, for instance, and that's all. I understand that different symbols shoudl represent lance/tonnage, but I can't even see them properly, due to their tiny size.

Totally agree. BAttlegrid itself is okay, but the mini-map is in this form absolutely no help. I don't know, of what use it shall be to see the whole map in miniature. Reduce the map to somewhere between 500 and 800 meters (for example) and let it rotate again.

Please roll back the mini-map change immediately. The new mini-map is worse than the old one in every possible way. Causing players to be lost and disoriented should not be part of this game's design objectives.

I agree that the new minimap is difficult to use.


In order to get the ID of a point on the grid to call it out to my team, I now have to look 3 places while simultaneously piloting a 140kph scout out of a potential encounter. All the while I know that my allies must make the same 3 point check while they are potentially engaged in combat in order to interpret my intel. Not an efficient system.

It is also frustrating that we must now mentally reorient ourselves while driving in order to use the minimap.

Well I would not have thought that PGI could mess up this bad with a working and feature that did not need any fix. I guess I was wrong.

The battle map is now useless.

Is there an option to switch back to the old minimap?
I am with Cyrilis, the old map was a great source of information. The new one only waste space on my screen.

I was just playing a match and someone said that they are able to use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out on the minimap. I have tried every button on the keyboard and the mouse but it wont zoom in or out. can someone please tell me which f****ing key bind i need to use to get this to work?!!

I like the information it offers, but it is too small. Once multiple pilots are engaging in close proximity you can't tell whats happening. It's like watching pixels fight. If there was a toggle zoom key for the map that would be fine. But as-is it's too small to discern any amount of useful information. Seismic is useless now too.

I agree on the orientation lock and FOV. I can't tell where I am and have to spend time searching for it. Might as well pull up the battle-grid at that point.

Bring old minimap back. To save bandwidth dont bring back the direction of the enemy but I want the old one back. New one hard to see and disorienting.

I can't deal with the new one, it's so bad, it might as well not be there. I feel like I'm flying blind. Was looking forward to trying out my new P-Hawks, see the rescaled mechs and map changes, but this hurts. Seriously, it feels like sensory deprivation now because information that was there before and was vital to playing the game just isn't there any more. Taking a break from MWO.

If the intention of the new mini-map was to decrease the player's battlefield awareness, you have succeeded.

Developers. I KNOW you meant well with this map. I know you meant to give an overview of the map so commanders can command. But honestly? The old mini-map was an WAY better tool, during the fight.

Give us an option to use one or another, please. There was no need to change the mini-map, and the other one was SO much more tactical...

this new mini map is totally confusing to use in game.

it does not rotate with you, so when you were used to calling out targets based on the mini map, and looking on it for info (enemy left) that enemy can now be behind you to the right instead of on your left, because the map doesn't rotate to your point of view.

also confusing to navigate with movement. you face forward, but on your minimap you move to the back right for example. totally confusing to see where you are ACTUALLY going on the map compared to what direction you THINK you are headed.

PLEASE fix this asap!!!

I am usually pretty forgiving of you devs and I always came back to this game and put money into it cause i love it, but if this minimap isn't fixed i'm never playing this game again. It's that bad

Really that map is terrible. Much to small and no informations left. Have to buy an 40'' LED Screen to see something.

Please what was the reason for that? Everything was fine and is was turning with my sight.

Please put it back... No fun to play MWO like this.
