They talked about adding a minimap zoom feature during the last town hall, but it didn't make it into this patch. You can expand the minimap to a full map with 'B'.

SHORT: it is HORRIBLE.

Did you test this because it is such a bad gameplay item now.
Make 3 settings small normal (like it was) and large.

AND ROTATE.

Agree with all of the above. Minimap is now useless - It's easier, and faster, to spin a 360 (even in an atlas) to gather info that try and glean from that...thing...

Roll back on minimap please!

I've only played a few matches with the new minimap, but my initial feedback is not positive. I find it far too difficult to get the information that I want, when I want it. It's also more difficult to figure out grid references.

My suggestions to improve the new map:
  • zoom option
  • map rotation
  • better grid labeling, like the old map

in addition to the points above, the new minimap also makes seismic sensor borderline useless because of the scale and lack of orientation.

I don't know how such a gamebreaking change could go through QA in the state we got it.

Good Job PGI you need a reason for an hotfix and tataaa you got it. Give us the old mini map. The new is totaly confusing.

Dear PGI Team,
my english is not perfect and i don't write in forums. But i want the old mini Map back. I need the old mini map back! I spent so much money for seismic sensors and its all useless now. I never was aware of how important the old mini map for my gameplay was, until now... please please please give us the old mini map back! I would be so happy!

So I'm still patching and haven't tried it yet, but you're supposed to be able to switch the minimap between full and local I thought? Is there a toggle to switch between them?

I do not care if they are going to add it in the future, PGI excelled in putting broken content into a patch knowingly....AGAIN. This map should have never made it into the patch in the first place. IT IS CRAP.

Just tried a few matches with the new map, and it's honestly just plain bad. From what I understand, it's necessary for the new command wheel. Great. Yay. I can now clutter the map up more with symbols and clog the comms with unspecific information while at the same time losing out on immediate grid coords, my leg/torso direction, seismic, and more accurate distances between me and enemies up close. The decision to update the minimap was (theoretically at least) a good one. How you went about "updating" however was a terrible, terrible idea. Please, if you cannot bring the old minimap back, at least restore similar functionality - soon. Zoom it in to the old level, make it rotate with the player, mark our leg directions. Please.

I did it before. Remember the first version of UI 2.0? I walked away and came back when the mechlab ceased to be that horrible click fest. This is worse. Good bye until this is fixed.

No, its easier to see the whole map and not overlook enemies in back.
Does not help that still nobody looks at it for that.

But thats the only thing that is better. You cant even see the reds clearly.

get the map rotation back and its fine.. otherwise just delete the map entirely, its useless this way, everyone is running around like clueless chickens

Played two matches and have to agree with all of the above.
The mini-map is now absolutely useless, even worse, it is distracting.

How is it possible this abomination was greenlit for a patch ? A single test-match would have shown it's horrible.

Minimap is bad and of no use as it don't rotate to the direction your mech is travelling, i found it very confusing please bring back the old one many thanks,

Erk, just had a round with the new minimap.. Really doesn't work. It just displays the battlegrid - i can get that by pressing B!

Please can we have the old useful one back? If i ever need to see what is far away from me, i usually have time to press B.

without the ability to zoom in on the minimap it is useless. i cannot tell if im close to my teammates or not because everything is too small. it does not rotate. on the bright side w/o a useful minimap i guess 3rd person view is viable now.
