I can't do this anymore. I can't tell where I'm going. I can't tell where the enemy is. I can't even keep track of my allies very well. I'm constantly getting flanked or ganked. My best games now are when I go hide in a corner with large lasers. I'll come back after the hotfix.

As for map zoom, sensor range caps out with all the expansion crap to about 1,000 meters.
Give us a zoom of 1,000 meters. That's all we need. I can hit B if I need to know more.

What I don't like is they've inverted the map and minimap... it used to orient in the same direction you dropped, now it orients 180 degrees from that, which makes in doubly confusing given the new scale as well.

It is kind of funny how PGI managed to turn something like radar ad absurdum. Last time I checked, this is still the technology that mechs use...wonder why fighter pilots around the world do not use that kind of "supermap/radar" that we have now...

Make it zoomable

Make it rotate again

Readd Torso/Leg indicator

Keep the mech icons

Was really considering buying a Huntsmen pack yesterday but....not going to happen.

Also old minimap showed the direction of a mech. That was very vital information. While it might be ok to hide this information for enemy mechs, this information was also good to tell what your teammates aiming at and if there is an enemy mech behind them they didn't notice. Thats all gone now

The new mini map is scrap. Tactical awareness is completely gone. No more fun to play the game with the new one. Bring the old one back and I will be back in game.

I was really excited about the patch, because I was finally getting my Phoenix Hawk. I was even thinking of buying the new Hero Catapult, and a Huntsman pack, and then.....

PGI HAD TO GO SCREW WITH SOMETHING THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE MESSED WITH!!!!!

The minimap is an ABORTION!!!!!! I have now played several games with it, it is confusing, it is hard to use to give coordinated to, it is USELESS unless you plan on driving your mech with your head down in the map, and not looking for the enemy. Now I am not buying the Hero Mech, or the Huntsman, and am seriously thinking of either parking the game until they fix it, or even requesting refunds on the other mech packs I have bought, because the minimap is GARBAGE.

Before, it had limited field of view, but you could glance, see a coordinate, and call it, now you have to look at the scales, and figure out your orientation. Put it back to where it was, because this new one freaking sucks ace.

Cannot stand the new minimap....bleh. Why fix what wasn't broken? I actually liked the previous version....unless it was considered OP in some way maybe?

I think most people already weighed in. I don't mind having the "whole map" as an option for the minimap... however, it's less useful than the old minimap 90% of the time. If you want to change it up, make a zoom feature where you can toggle between the old and new minimap. Otherwise I'd rather you roll the change back to the old minimap. Thanks.

I don't know who's idea it was to change the mini-map but honestly it was terrible. It would be OK if you could toggle between the two but this one map gives no info. Had a game up with so many things overlapping that you can't understand the map at all. Really makes me not to want too play. Sigh. Don't you have testers for changes like this?

Limit the Mini map to the sensor range of the mech, 800 m radius. Then with Targeting Computers, Command consoles, BAP, CAP, sensor range or advance sensor range. then with the Cyclops there will be something different for the sensor.

So that is 800 m to 1250 m range for IS mechs with BAP, CC and advance sensor range. Then a bit more for clan mechs with TC VII, CAP and advance sensor range.

I'm not sure if it should move and rotate with the mech, but it seems logical.

One thing some people will not realize is now LRM boats can target a mech and verify by the map if they can hit it without hitting "b" now.

The scale on the new minimap is not useful... it's too big. I've always used the minimap to navigate and have a good understanding of the situation of the battlefield near my mech. It was possible to move across the map just looking at he minimap... Now you can see mech 2-3km away but up close you have no idea of what the hell is going on. The minimap is an incredibly important tool for a game such as mwo... this "new and improved" version should have been tested by the comunity and rejected... rejected with extreme prejudice...

Just my 2 cents...

I cannot play the game at all now. The mini map is so small I cannot focus on the battle and readjust my vision to try and figure out what the hell is going on. Going to cover it and just watch the battlefield. As someone else has said, it is worthless, and right now I have a real case of motion sickness. This is so close to cause other people to get ill or worse.

dear pgi,

please put these new patches on the public test server first. you have enough fan boys (myself included) that would bug test if and give you a public perspective on these things for you for free before you onboard new stuff. would cost ya a day and a dolla.
