I don't think the new minimap allows for the same tactical dept as the previous one, but I can see the intent of having a broader view of the field, which is nice especially when manouvering in the long range (that's why we had the full-screen much, which by the way has the problem of impairing your vision completly), but when the fight turns into a brawl it's just a blob of blue and a few red spots.
I think a good solution to get the best of the three map modes (old minimap, new minimap and full screen map) is as follows:
Start with the old minimap showing just the near field, directional arrows and so on,
Press B and the minimap pops out a bit occupying a bit more screen space and it displays the entire field new minimap style
Hold B (or press B another time) to display the full screen map
Much like the zoom operates right now, this would allow for a much deeper gameplay without sacrificing intuitivity. And it also shouldn't be too much of a hassle for the developers to implement.

By the way how can I play the game with the new mini map to train for the Comp. when the mini map is different from one to the other. Seriously..........
I have to agree, I feel I have supported this game, but this radical change to gameplay has made me rething my support.

Was never satisfied with it, always thought that the map could be much more efficient and now it is. With people crying that they cant see anything on it, do we even play the same game? Seismic works, uavs work i can see where the enemy is, i see if he is behind cover with the help of the minimap dunno^^
Also had the problem of orientation in my first 2-3 matches, but its okay now and its much more pleasant to play with the current map^^

why is it things that need fixing ..dont get fixed
& things that dont need touching get touched in worse possible way.

There's also the thing that you cant see the way the enemy is facing, easily fixable by just adding a triangle to signal the way the enemy is facing (eather his legs or torso, whatever works)
But whoever got thought that it was a good idea of having an ant sized map to replace the old one deserves the wrath of the community. Until it gets fixed.

Whoever created this map should be kicked out of a dropship leaving atmosphere. As in skipping across the planets high orbit, fall from a few miles up, and then crash into the ground, skidding along some kind of volcanic rock bed, (the sharp kind not the smooth kind) before they grind to a halt. After that they should be eaten by the local scavengers and then either regurgitated or excreted as solid waste from said scavengers. Then there should be some very slow decomposition in the hot scorching sun...

WHY DOES IT NOT ROTATE?
REALLY, WHY? I couldn't care less about always knowing where north is looking at my minimap, I need it to tell me where my enemies are in relation to me. But with this new map, I can't do it at a glance anymore. "Oh on the tiny minima it looks like he at my 5, quick, turn in that direc- Oh ffs no, he was at my 9. Woops. Silly minimap, can't be mad at you. Not.
do you enjoy reading small text like this, PGI? I know I don't. This is what it feels like to look at the new mimiap. Look at all this information I can fit in this tiny area! Wow! It's wonderful, isn't it? Is this what you wanted? Because this is what I'm seeing when I look at the mimnap, a whole lot of ****
Edit: I am not going to play this game until the minimap changes. It actually hinders my gameplay.
So on point!!!!
