Thank you Andi, this is exactly what I was hoping to hear from them. Score for the community, and more importantly score for the devs both for listening, and for not torpedoing their own game straight to hell. Well at least not for more than a day.

So... they release this steaming pile of crap and then can turn around in a single day and add (1) rotation, (2) grid legends, and (3) fov cone? Wtf were they doing before today?

I don't think I've ever been so pessimistic about PGI and the future of this game. I'm sure Russ means well, and I've never really felt strongly about him either way, but the guy needs to go. The fact that he approved the new minimap tells me that he never actually playtested it. It's just messed up.

I honestly feel whoever did the testing for the minimap wasn't asked for feedback (or asked to do a 12v12) on how well the information flowed with seeing the whole map. I don't hate the new minimap, I got plenty of wins today and didn't get lost. I feel this wasn't a misstep (or step backwards), but, more of a stumble. Maybe I just like giving the benefit of the doubt because I am not as cynical, but, I do think this minimap once the hotfix hits will be great. Yeah we lose the directional info of enemies, but, I relied on that much less than knowing what tonnage (and thus what likely the mech was carrying) when choosing to poke, chase, assist, or flee from a mech than what way it was facing.

Hell majority of the complaints I heard while playing today was it was zoomed too far out and people were misplacing their feet, so, since that is getting addressed (and I also was tweeting with Russ today to which he confirmed the vision cone was returning) I am not bothered. So, woo, exciting things coming with that look into future stuff with tag and uav's giving us directional information (yay a point to scouting with tag instead of LL's) as well as a point to the D-DC's command console and hopefully also the Cyclops. Possibly throw this onto the Rifleman and Jagermech since they also had advanced tracking radar (meant for AA work, but, eh, it makes sense to be a built in feature that just gives it to their mech only).

Just glad PGI didn't stay quiet about this until they rolled out a hotfix, that would have caused nothing but trouble.

All I want/need is the ability to zoom in/out and able to set a level of transparency.

Oddly, this is not my first game ever where the map does not rotate.

Well at least they are somewhat "fixing" it.... I think the 2000^2 is still a little too zoomed out, crowds are still going to be hard to tell specifics on and Seismic sensors in a brawl will be far less useful. People don't need to see mechs on their radar almost 2km away, we need accurrate information on enemies nearby. 1500^2 would be better.

I'm winning most of my games with the new mini map. So, it's an implementation that have some beneficial progress although there are some annoyance.

Please continue to work on the complaints until perfection is achieved.
